    Ylands Boss Script Fight Test

Is there a way to win the fight? I couldn't get the boss health to decrease. But otherwise... really cool! It was fun even trying to dodge all the different attacks. And I especially liked the lava effect. You should also make people burn next to it Maybe there should be something like play arena so the boss doesn't attack you on the other side of the bridge?

    0.12 Update first impressions

One thing that I hoped is going to get better and it ended up slightly worse is the 3rd person camera regarding cars. In 0.11, the camera acted how it wanted to. But now in 0.12, the camera follows the car exactly, but very very slow. Which means that if you do a lot of quick/sharp turns you lose the ability to see in front of you. You always see the car from a side. Which is quite impractical for me, because skilled driving in tight spaces is my hobby right now in Ylands and I don't see where I'm going ? My usual race times on testing track dropped from about 30s to about 36s (may not see as much, but I drove that simple track an uncountable number of times and worse than 32s used to be failed try for me)

Looking forward to it! I may have some nice holiday-time next week (Easter and exams day on our school for others) so I will definitely find the time to test everything out

Will you share it also as a composition?

    Ball Physics + Bouncing!! ?

Wow! You're a magician for sure ? Quickly somebody (who doesn't have a billion things to learn by tomorrow), make a ball game!

    Ball Physics + Bouncing!! ?

Can it be hit mid-flight? And even if not, big thumbs up! I can imagine making a nice minigolf out of this

Hello Everyone, can I get a TL;DR on Ylands?

I will try to describe it on the four main game modes there are here: Explore - Very similar to Minecraft here but in lowpoly. You have a few deserted islands on one of which you're going to spawn. Then you work your way from basic tools, materials, and workstations to advanced technologies. You get to explore the cave system, build your house, make yourself a big ship and map the different islands with different bioms. Quite a few people enjoy playing this gamemode with their friends. Nicely done nature, different on various islands and not just visually. A lot of different items to your liking, both tools and decorations for your future home. Create - Basic creative mode. Flying, no damage and all assets available. Editor - Here's the true magic of Ylands (even though I prefer singleplayer Explore of them all). Create your own games in the Editor using both all the assets from the game and the easy-to-learn, hard-to-master visual scripting. @Igor Q. made some nice compositions out of this system here - you can read the descriptions to see what is possible. Custom games - After you are happy with your created game, you can, of course, share it with others. And that's where Ylands is headed - Create and play! Right now, there's an ongoing competition for game creators inside the Editor. Go and take a look The games presented there are rather simple but in the future, you could possibly make a big RPG or adventure game in Editor. These are some of the more time-invested games here and here . I hope this helped. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask And enjoy your stay here!

With all this postponing, is it still imaginable to hit version 1.0 this year? As you said, every update is bigger and bigger but also slower and slower. This update was/is being developed five months. Which is quite a lot (in comparison to other Ylands updates, I myself don't know anything about developing games) and 1.0 will probably take even more time. So... is 2020 more probable? Is there a 0.14 on the roadmap ? 0.15?

Yes, I want to see your work too ?

Is the update on track to be released in March?

Nah, I can't play today. I would be too envious of you ? Let it sit one more day ?

    [NEW]Useful Text Functions

[NL] - start new line <b> ... </b> - bold <i> ... </i> - italic <color=#FFFFF> ... </color> - colorize text between tags, color is HEX format Or at least writing this somewhere where everybody can find it. I doubt that many people read the Ylands wiki.

Beware not to fall into this territory like DayZ But I have to say I'm quite excited about how 0.12 looks now. Fighting will look more cartoonish now but that may be even a plus. Anybody ready for a rematch in the Gold Rush?

The 1st of April maybe? ? That could be interesting... ?

    " Once-lers"

Always have one lever put next to your locked doors on a display connected to Tesla coil instead. Pulling it may not open the door but the outcome will definitely shock them

20 days? ? The last card game I created took me about 20 months ? I still think that slow sloths are superior to all!

    RESOLVED Hunger system

It is like that, isn't it? Eat berries and boom - still hungry. Grab a stack of cooked meat and you're good for few days.

    Old faces

Developers always want the game to be one experience. When they decided to scrap the old look, we must move on. But who knows, maybe in the future there will be "nostalgia" mods similar to other games. You aren't ? What is there forum for if not for chatting about ideas?

Editor: allow digging in Character mode

It worked like a Create scenario and the changes stayed in the world but with Editor overhaul, it became just this character mode. I also use it only if I want to see player proportions, his field of view or test his jump abilities.

    Old faces

Yes, that's my old look. Long time no see I may like the old ones a bit more, but now there are the new ones these would look out of the place. The new ones look more detailed and more... cheerful? The old ones were more stylized but I can imagine not everybody liked them more So I believe it's safe to say they won't be coming back.

    Old faces

You mean that we would look like grandpas and grandmas? I would have to be an extra old whitebeard then But now really, I don't think many people would appreciate having their characters magically turn old. Also, you would separate "us" and "them" which is something no Ylander aims to

Cancel movement of trees ¿is possible?

Isn't there a switch for Dynamic Foliage in the settings? That is the only option I can think of right now. But you'd have ask every player to manually turn it off

Arrays - how do they work?

I'm slowly learning about all kinds of different game logic components (thanks to @Igor Q. tutorials too) and I got a feeling that arrays could be really useful. But I don't see where are the situatios that arrays are made for. I tried to look up what are they used for but all I understood (hopefully) is that they somehow "group" objects like variables or entities, vectors etc. Is there anybody willing to ELI5 to me? ?

Arrays - how do they work?

Thank you too! In learning the Editor, there's never too much. Too bad I won't have access to it the whole next week, we are going skiing, but I would love to test all the different ideas in my head right now PS: I believe there is a typo, isn't there? "... the first item will have index 0, second item will have the index 2..." shouldn't then the second one have the index 1?
