    When seagulls   come back ...will the  air  sharks  fly around  after them ??

    and   what about  the ones that  sometimes end  up on land ??

    I htink  having   animals on a boat will be one way of  protecting  the  boat  from thieves.....    just park the  boat  where there's  sharks  :) .. they   gather around and  act as  guards ....

    I had a ship  stolen ..unfortunately i parked it with part of the  stern outside the barrier and they simply placed there a new  helm and anchor, effectively removing  mine  under the barrier!  They  then  sailed my ship out to sea and  dismantled it,  scattering  bits on the ocean  floor.   Their idea of  "lulz"

    My response wast  to make another ship outside the barrier...but  i didn't use  a ships  keel  ...just  made "cladding"  to look like one  ... hahah ..it was a dummy ship and   yes...a tesla  coil was  connected to the anchor  switch.  In the following 4  days  it  fried  3 wannabee  hijackers.    The  bodies had  nothing on them when they dropped,  they were all new arrivals.

    But then,  i am there for the game and  fun,  i  don't want to become like these "once-lers"?

    These are  people(? ) who arrive solely  to  see what they can destroy  or   disrupt   then  immediately go offline never to return. They do  not want to become part of the game  etc,  they  just  "think" its  clever to be  an  a$$#0!3, ... and  its all they can do.

    Sadly,  we have  had another player leave our friendly server  for a while because  one  such social misfit  raided   his  base and took everything worthwhile.

    I am used to it  now ...  i expect to find  my  storage  broken into  and items  stolen and replaced with   grass, stones  resin and  wood  pieces etc...   and its  always  why i  hide a  predator in the foyer areas of  my  dwelling ? ..or  fit a hidden Tesla  coil somewhere!

    I have had some "idiot"  clean out  my help area stores    and then  either   dump the contents  at sea or  bury them somewhere.......  so that's why i   don't  make  such  areas anymore.

    All  my  doors/ships  are locked...or  have  keys available, because if  not, some  pea-brain  will  make a key and  lock it  for  you.  I have  even had to replace workstations that  have  been  padlocked  by these  nit-wits ...not a big  deal if they are under a barrier,  just a waste of a few seconds of  time.

    I am sure the  biggest  storage  files  on some  servers  are those that have the   ID  numbers of banned  trolls and such.

    But then  what  else  can you expect from people in the world these days?    I used to play in a community  band, and   at every public  performance  there was always   some half  brain  who tried to  lob objects  into  the   tuba players instrument ...and   surprisingly  the  worst places to perform  were in the  campuses  of  universities where the  future intelligentsia  would  act  like  spoiled   pre schoolers...

    Unfortunately,  its  something   us responsible, sensible and  socially acceptable people  will have to put  up with ..?

    OOH PLEASE  introduce this!  Its needed ...  i hate  stepping over  bodies on my doorstep or  inside small  open  buildings/workshop areas ...  some  come in ...run  around  then  they NEVER return. It can be a  form of  griefing..?

    My Pc was first assembled  in 2006 !  its  still the  " same " Pc   ...( like the  Maori  axe ...has had  3 replacement heads and  5  replacement  handles  ..but  still is the same  axe ? )     When i first  got it, it was " built"  by  my other half  from rejects  at a computer swap-meet. Other nerd  gamers had upgraded and  were selling  at discount prices their superseded  bits and we started off with a  huge case ..that could  accommodate a lot of  stuff.  The original  cpu was an  amd  dual core ...bees knees for the day.!

      As a result ,  over the years in stages  i have out in a new Motherboard,   Intel i3  upgraded  cpu ...  added an  external 2 Tb  HD ...(inside the case!)  beefier PS  and a Nvidia 750 gtxi video card...  plus  other  bits.  Having all the room  allowed for  extra  slots  for things  and  also an additional  fan for  cooling.    Getting to the stage  though, where another upgrade will  be needed  .. but  the   $$$$'s  have  yet to be found...

    One  day  ?

    Hi Baz...  We are still at it ...maps  last longer now, and better  fps,  but   you are right ..there will always  be  asshats, and the  ban lists are way longer than the list of  sensible  players :)

    With the only  open servers  being  heavily  moderated, and nearly all the other  MP servers  privately  run, the  playground for the asshats  is  shrinking.

    Guess they will have to  go back to playing   donkey kong  or   my little pony ....:D

    P1 PVE is  surviving and  thriving ...   do  drop in ...ignore the  once-ler corpses  around  spawn... they will get  dumped  eventually, but  they   still pile  up there like coke stuffed lemmings...        you can  hit  us  up on discord. - The hard core  is  still there  B|

    The P1 PVE servers try  to provide a non  toxic,  non violent and friendly gaming experience,  with emphasis on exploration,  co-operation and  creativity.

    Unfortunately,  most of these words are to big and complex  for a lot to read and understand .. but to those that do, here is what you  will find, and what to do if you decide to  join in  and want to become part of the community.

    You will   arrive at a  spawn point on a suitable  starting island. There will be signage with instructions and  directions.  It will be in a  predator free  safe  area,  an  illuminated.  Do not  try to take the lighting,  its  made un-pickable!   There will be  predators  outside the safe area!

    Close  by will be an   area  with some   chests containing  basic  resources, and a place to  sleep at  night.  Of  course  you will be surrounded by   the  lifeless  bodies of the  "Once-lers"  ...those who log in , look around  and then  log out never to return.

    There "might be"  available  some  dinghy's  for  you to use to escape to another  island, ....   "might be" is the   main phrase,  as it is  not  uncommon  for  some people  to  think its fun to  take the boats  offshore,  abandon them  then swim back  to repeat  what they think is  funny.   They  soon  discover when they  abandon the   boat, that  there are effective shark patrols  that  cull  these  type of   fools.:D  A lot of the bodies  at spawn are  of those who found this out the hard way...

    What to do  on arrival at the spawn point : 

     look for and read the signs for  tips  etc

    Locate  any  help  chests and take  only  what  you need ...  do not be a pratt and  take  the lot   or  fill them up with  junk stuff.  ----- Its possible  that  help chests will be empty  or filled with things like  sea  shells   grass, or sea urchins...:/  ....  Welcome to the reality that there are  social misfits  here as well as in the real world! :P

    Sleep when  requested ...      use    <enter> /who to see who is  online  ..if they do not have a 0   .but   100 or  998  or   such in their details, then these people  have some form of  admin  rights... and if  around,  they  will help and  give  advice.  They can also  ban/boot you if you are nasty and troublesome.  Remember, if  you come in to  cause  trouble, the admins  can peruse  server logs  and  you will  get a perma  ban  from the  server!

    Get your  dinghy ready  and   stocked with  food...( bananas  corn  or  whatever) and  look for   seagoing  birds  and set out.  There could be   some  help stations nearby  with facilities to  make a  map or  basic  tools etc...   use, but  do not   destroy.

    DO not   rob other peoples  stores, or  if you see a place  under construction,  interfere with it  or the   owners  belongings  or materials   etc.

    Please,  do not  build on  spawn island.  .it  becomes  laggy after a while and  you  will soon regret it ,  especially  after  other anti-social new arrivals do their best to wreck   and  steal everything   that   they can. 

    Join  discord and  the  chat  channel .. and  find out  about restarts  and hints as to where there are good places to  build. Sometimes a group will gather  as an "expedition" to explore caves etc  or to  build  some  facility, like a  mooring pier ...   join in!

     

    Unfortunately,  after about  10  days,  a map  can become unstable and   lagged,  and everyone will need to  restart over...  so    use your  blueprint  camera  to   save your favorite  build for when  that happens . Usually there is a discord  discussion  prior  to any decision being made,  and all active  players  alerted  and  given a  time and  date.    If you have  earned the communities respect  as a trusted and  creative player,  when  arriving at a new map  you " might" get  a   spiffy   set of  neon clothing and a few  extra  items to help you start out,  ie  keys to an area  where  you can get   maps,  basic tools   and  stuff..   but  you have to earn it  :)

    But  most of  all,  when you are  on  P1 PVE   server ...  Have  fun!        see you there!

    Quick workaround to felling  trees and  removing stumps ...also   stone lumps ...     .... use a revolver!    -   :D 6 shots will fell a tree..another 4 to 6  will  cause it to break into logs......  and   4   will remove  the stump!B|

    Also 4  to  6  shots  will  turn a lump of  rock into  a pick-able   stone.     Not  the best way to  remove  things,  but more  accurate and you can avoid  hitting   other things.

    Besides ...its  also fun   :D

    After   about  4  "yland days"  the    cube  goes off.... you get the  hungry ..freezing  or  drowning or   too hot  messages.  

    Although its obviousl;y a glitch,   its no  big  deal  because   I only   use the cube to establish the basics  and get  quickly  established .......  then its  not   used and i  often  store it  in a locked safe.

    This is  my current   project...its a dock and    ship   with  anti theft    additional measures

    The  ship helm and  anchor  are padlocked ...but i have placed  large   wooden wing  doors   near the  helm   that when  locked, they are  horizontal.  the  dock  has lockable  doors  either side of the  exit ..which   will foul those    horizontal doors ...preventing the  ship from reversing out of the dock.

    make sure  dock  sides are lower than  the  doors     else the  ship will  react  violently  when you  "open" the   side doors  .. ie  lock them  horizontal.   :D

    The current PVE1   map has lasted a   very long time!   Obviously the  improvements and  optimization are having an effect...   and  0.12 indicates  more   improvements are possible.

    But whats the issue now is that spawn island is overcrowded with  buildings..... some   abandoned.....and also a  flotilla  of  ships ... a lot  not   finished  and   creating a pool of  lag.

    With discussions of a  new  map starting  'next year' ... thoughts are  on how to make  thing  better...

    Sooooooo  after a strong  coffee, and  some chocolate treats   :D my other half  replaced his   Santa Hat with a thinking  cap and  came up with  some suggestions.

    Already BB recommends that  people be encouraged to move  form spawn ASAP.    and that would  also  help to weed out the  "one-timers" from the serious creative players.

    The   ideas from my side of the  'think tank"  are as follows..

    1) make spawn island hard to build on, and as  small as possible, with no  clay or  iron or cloth making resources.

    2) Place there  under a barrier, a help area  surrounded by  basic  food  ( ie  bananas)   and some sleeping areas,  with  flint,  stone   and  grass for basic  tools.

    3)  Place Conspicuous Notices around about  the rules of the  game, and  requesting  serious  players to  join the  discord   group to get advice on  where to find  resources etc.

    4) A  row of locked  chests behind the  help area,  each chest containing  basic  materials to build a  dinghy,   and  basic tools  ..  food  and a fishing rod  -and a map  advising  which  directions to  travel to find an alternative island.

    5) Upon joining  discord, the  serious  player who wants to  continue ,  will get a  code from one of the  admin players to allow them to  unlock one of these chests  to get the materials for  one  ship.

    What this could   achieve  would be the the one-off  players would  not be able to  leave  spawn ..unless they   survive the  plethora of   predators  outside the  safe  area   to gather enough materials for a  small raft..  and therefore convince other players they are here to craft and  create and  not  steal and  destroy.

    Maybe  this would  work ?

    Bought as an Xmas gift for my other half  " Railway Empire"   ( Hes a  railfan   nut-and  bolt .. has a man-cave full of the stuff..)

    We are currently looking through  that game   ..he wants to  use my  computer with the  bigger monitor and the imagery looks  cool  with the bigger   graphics  card and    spare  memory.

    Let this be a warning  to those who dare to infest  the P1 server games  with names that are  not  PG rated!  :D

    If you  choose an obscene  name ... you  might  end up  appearing as  " Sugarplum Fairy"  or  "Peachy Sweet-cheeks" ...which might  clash with your macho looking outfit of  helmet and  sword!  :D
