  1. I absolutely love the new music in the game, sailing and exploring become a lot more enjoyable because of it.

However I have to say the combat music is becoming more and more jarring everyday I play. Often it triggers when there isn't an active combat situation, e.g if you're indoors and an animal is near, or if you sail and a shark chases your boat... Then I've noticed sometimes when the combat loop starts, it wont stop even after killing whatever animal is near you causing you to re-log. Not only that but the combat music itself is naturally jarring with the loud noises and it being such a short loop with no real variation.

I feel like all the new music additions are great, however combat really sticks out as the worst part of it, it's gotten to the point where when i'm sailing I just point in the direction I want to go and tab out to avoid hearing it start/stop because of sharks when instead I could be listening to the incredible sailing music.

I don't know what can be done about this, but an option to disable just the combat music would be amazing, in a game like this combat isn't really a big part anyway so it's a shame to have such a jarring piece of music every time a wolf or shark is near.

Hi! Here's a little update you may find interesting.

With the upcoming version 0.6.2 we managed to update DS to work with Steam. In the upcoming days we will be contacting those who have asked us about DS in the past and provide them with instructions on how to get and use it. If you don't hear from us in a day or two after 0.6.2 has been released or haven't contacted us at all but still want to give it a try, let us know via PM.

This is great news, please definitely get in touch with us, we're a community of 30 odd players at the moment and we'd absolutely love a dedi.

I would prefer a key-binding to turn the light on/off manually instead of the automatic system. Apart from turning on too late and off too early while on the surface, when it turns night/day, i had it turn off and on deep underground (with no open sky above me) repeatetly too. Its also problematic when mining close to the surface during day when the light turns darker (HDR effect kicks in) but you still have to go a bit deeper/farther until the light turns on, until you are left in (almost) pitch black.

The automatic system might be a nice idea, but i would really prefer to have manual control.

I'd absolutely prefer a keybind for it.

  4. So we started a new save and the map that has generated is a little interesting.

Our main Yland is fine, however just off shore we're surrounded (in most directions) by Ylands that are the seafloor with weird elevation, so all of these Ylands are barren with Sharks above water. The second issue is we sailed out and came across a real Yland, however it's underwater so can't be inhabited.

Not only that, but surrounding our Ylands the weather systems are a little messed up, we have snow in random spots (20m radius) even though you end up too hot if you put any fur clothing on.

In all likelihood we're going to use the editor and move what we have built to a new world, I just wanted to report this as it's really unusual.

Damn, you've got an army of ylanders there :D

Absolutely! We're a bit of a Hivemind, one of us buy a game and the rest follow. Same thing happened with Astroneer (as I said we love this type of game and have really high hopes for it!)... I just hope with all my heart they don't give up like we all did with Astroneer:

Ah ok, the editing helped, the way you wrote the sentence before meant something completely different :)

We are working on the fixes as fast as we can, I can't really say more than to please be a little bit patient :)

Yeah sorry about that, it looked like I was complaining about bug fixes! Definitely not my intention.

And don't worry I am patient, I love sandbox/crafting games even if they are a little buggy at times and I absolutely love Ylands and I can't wait to see where it goes in the future:

My fear is these guys wont be so patient:

It would be nice if you could make the energy streams invisible, or at least only visible when your character is holding the Energy Linker.

Agreed, I feel like it really ruins the aesthetic at the moment. We're currently using crystal shards and a ton of lanterns for lighting and have powered off our energy until we can hide the streams somehow.

  8. Yep I had the miners helmet and it's awesome, there is also an awesome variant available though I wont spoil it.

I finally got lights/street lamps up I just need to do something a little more creative with the energy streams as the bright green light connecting them is a little unattractive.

Why would an update make it unplayable?

Currently players are experiencing the following issues:

    - Can't join a world since the recent spawn patch if you were in a "dead" state before the patch was implemented, you get to 100% loaded though the create new character screen does not open. (This only occurred for us immediately after the patch yesterday)

    - Inventory is unstable after an hour or so of playing requiring people to rejoin constantly.

    - Ladders teleporting you randomly.

    - Ships sinking if you walk into anything in First Person mode

    - If you leave the server on a ship you'll spawn back in the ocean away from the ship resulting in shark deaths.

At this time, only the 100% join issue is totally game breaking as you need to create a new world to get passed this, however creating a new world isn't really a solution as people prefer longer term games. My concern is that combined with the other bugs is going to turn a lot of people away, especially if it's next week at the earliest that any of these will be addressed with a patch.

There will be a small update next week with some fixes :)

    Next week?

This means that the game is going to become increasingly unplayable for a lot of people until then which is disappointing after convincing 20 odd people to buy the game :(
