  1. Version : 0.9.0.51083 Platform : Windows 10 Steam Bug : Lanterns placed in Stone Arched Window cannot be picked up. How to reproduce : I built a wall using 2x1 stone blocks and added a stone arched window (the one with the rounded top). Some time later when the wall was hardened I made a standard lantern and wanted to see what it looked like in the arched window. I could not get it lined up how I wanted it using Free Place mode so I used "G" to Fine Free Place the Lantern to get it in the middle of the ledge. I then quickly discovered I could no longer pick up the Lantern. I suspect it is "inside" the bounding box of the arched window.

    [0.9] Account Link Error

BUG : In version 0.9.0.51083, clicking the Link Account button on the Home tab gives the following error...

    [0.9] Account Link Error

OK, so presumably anything we have done on a MP 0.9 map is inaccessible to us until it is resolved? Should I just pick a temporary name and start over for now?

    [0.9] Account Link Error

Hmm, hold on - it is now telling me my character name is taken. I can't back out of that screen either since the Name field is mandatory. I had to kill the task in Windows. Coming back into Ylands takes me straight back to the "Pick your name" page and locks me out of the game.

Perfect - working as expected, thank you. See below.

    Are we there yet?

Now you see Kimbuck, you made a mistake up there with the pointy stick... it was the wrong tool for the job. You have to think about what would motivate Ane and the team. Perhaps some Ylands custom image candy from Lofty Pursuits, or maybe some premium artisan coffee beans? A lifesized Ylands avatar made in premium chocolate?

    Adding outriggers to the Boat?

I have been struggling to build a small trimaran using the Boat and I wondered if there is a trick to doing this or if the game has been changed so that only Ships can be built on? I have been looking at posts such as Adrie's Shipyard and also the Survival game where Whane the Whip has created his Mark III Catamaran but despite them saying that they used the Exploration game and didn't rely all the time on the Editor, I cannot replicate this now in 0.8. When I try to attach bamboo beams (or the medieval window) to the side of the boat, I either get the red outline saying the block has to be attached to something solid or a placeable outline that then gives the "not enough space" message. Any clues?

    Adding outriggers to the Boat?

Just what I needed, thanks. It is very fiddly but it works.

    Adrie's Shipyard

I am struggling to make a trimaran based around the Boat in Exploration and Creative. I can't get outriggers to stick to the boat when it is balancing out on the removable pier as shown on the first post. Does that trick still work?
  10. BUG : When placing one specific type of stone pillar in Creative Mode in third person I noticed that the "ball" on the top of the pillar is drawn behind the body of the pillar itself when viewed from above. It only happens with this one stone pillar. It only happens in third person camera. The pillar is drawn properly when being placed in first person. All other stone pillar types with top decorations display properly. Ylands : Steam, Windows 10 PRO Version : 0.8.0.47255 See image below.

    Making a new exploration map-type.

I find the diving and respawning resources choice in the first option interesting and I expect experienced players might too but would the one biome restrict building styles by preventing people from finding certain plant or tree types? However as a new player I would personally prefer the barriers because I would not want to struggle learning the build system to discover someone had pickaxed through a wall simply for the delight in spoiling what I had made. If it was a totally private/whitelist server, I would lean more towards 1 but if it was a public server, probably 2. Maybe wait till the changelog for 0.9 is published? Apologies, RegEagle - you asked a simple question and will get fifty different answers!

    Abandoning NA 15 ..moving on..

I don't know if server admins have the ability already but it might be useful to have a Summon Player command. If the spawn started filling up like NA15 did, you could build an oubliette in a quiet spot and summon the abandoned bodies there. Just in case the player did come back, an unlocked way out would be appropriate but for the griefers, a jail cell or crypt could be used instead.

    Abandoning NA 15 ..moving on..

Thanks for the welcome and it was certainly nice seeing the arrival area you had created. I know you struggled with bugs and griefers but a few of us did appreciate it.

    Playing the game fairly

There seem to be about 4 regulars and the odd part-timer like me, plus of course swarms of short-term visitors. It is knee-deep in bodies and standing underpants models around the spawn. Hopefully it will only be a few days till a reset but playing on NA15 would be better than playing nothing.

Sorry you have had all this trouble... a public "probation" server and a private "trustee" server is definitely something that should protect you. I will try to introduce myself on the Discord later once you have set up and I can come and learn from you then. At the moment I have very sporadic playing hours - not least because of the time of year. The afternoon sun falls full on my screen and I can barely see what I am doing till it has set. I'll come and chat once I have sorted that out.

I wonder if these players are coming from Minecraft where there is a high degree of griefing (and even whole youtube channels dedicated to it)?

I will hopefully come over to wherever you are running when 0.9 is out to learn as I could use some advice with construction and exploring once I have achieved iron goods. Do you prefer folks to use a microphone or is chat usually enough? I do have a mic but it is rarely connected because the PC is in a shared room.
  18. BUG : Vultures can spawn and rest underwater VERSION : 0.8.0.47255 PLATFORM : Steam (Windows 10) ISSUE : While traveling to an Arid Biome, I found one Vulture standing on the floor of the shallow water under the ocean surface. Every couple of seconds it would flap as though trying to take off but would not emerge from the water. All the other Vultures on the island that had spawned on the land were flying as normal.
  19. BUG : Blue Pigment has incorrect label VERSION : 0.8.0.47255 PLATFORM : Steam (Windows 10) ISSUE : While exploring a Discovered Building (Red and White Lighthouse) I came across a stack of blue pigment and it was labelled "_BLUE PIGMENT". The leading underscore was not expected and is probably a spelling mistake.
  20. I am a new player to Ylands and would like some advice on what priorities you set yourself for the early game, specifically to do with shelter, storage and protection from animals. I understand how to look around and find surface resources (clay/flint/iron) as well as collecting plants for seeds (flax). I have managed to survive long enough on the first island to just break into iron tools but I don't know what I should be doing as far as base building is concerned. In the early game, do you tend to move into (and repair if necessary) an existing structure or do you just scavenge the ruined buildings and strip them of any useful resources? If you are looking for a suitable site, do you prefer having your back to the sea? Is a large flat area more useful? What about a hilltop for visibility? Do you tunnel into a cliff? Do I need to worry about walls or fences to prevent roaming surface predators from encroaching? Do herbivores eat my crops? Do I need to plan for a roof over crafting areas? Is cold during the heavy storms an issue? Do you tend to construct watch towers from which to snipe nearby predators or do you just charge in spear waving? Thanks in advance and I appreciate the help.

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

Thanks for all the tips, folks. I am currently still on Single Player mode so don't have to worry about anti-social issues obviously.

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

Much appreciated, thanks. Can predators climb stairs or cross player-made barriers? I have a location with a huge dogpile of three or four wolves and can only take them on one at a time at the moment. I was considering a raised platform but when I first tried engaging one from a Discovered treehouse, it simply ran under the platform below me and stayed there, moving around to match what I was doing above and I couldn't see it to shoot.

Flax Bundle still found in containers

It was this one... the roof slopes down to the back. You enter through an iron door in the back right, go up a ladder, across the middle bit and down another ladder into a lower room which may need digging out. I found the Urn with the Flax Bundles in there. There is some nice stuff including an iron spear, some potions, gunpowder kegs and even an Alchemists Chest (sadly not moveable). I have not managed to get into the top floor left attic room yet as the ladder was missing.

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

Cheers - I have noticed the cats and bears roaming a little but the wolves just like to pile in a heap and sleep all day. Do herbivores damage your crops at all or can I ignore them too?

Great - if you have too many choices, let me know and I'll take a picture.
