Olá Ylanders!

We are nearing the big update 0.14. and all of us here are very excited for all the cool new features coming to Ylands. But you have (and quite rightly so) voiced your concern about still existing bugs and new bugs, that could potentially come with 0.14. and what is being done about them? I know that in the past it could’ve seemed nothing is being done about bugs and other problems, but that was more down to a failure to communicate with you, the community. That is why we want to share with you our plan into the future concerning this.

Ylands 2019-08-30 13-08-20-43.jpg

Update 0.14. is the last update before release, that’s going to be “feature-heavy”. After its release, all our manpower and resources will go predominantly into polishing up the game and fixing, what needs fixing. Especially update 0.15. should be full of fixes, that some of you were waiting for quite some time. Many of the bugs you reported are being worked on even though it wasn’t acknowledged on the forums and many more have gone into the process of being fixed in the last couple of weeks. And while bug fixing wasn’t a complete priority in the past, this was due to trying to put all the features in first and then fixing all the problems connected to them, so nothing new messes with the final product. But now it will become a priority and we’ll do our utmost to get everything ready for the planned release later this year. So keep reporting those bugs, especially after 0.14, because we’ll be on a crusade to fix them all ? And don’t forget those output_logs, because they really make it much easier to quickly identify the problem and fixing it. We’ll also come up with a way to thank the most dedicated bug hunters in the future, so look out for that too ?

One of these bugs was for instance YLD-18419. The community reported, that they were having trouble connecting to dedicated servers and that an “Unspecified Error” kept popping up. First we thought, it would be a backend error, but after some more digging and after studying the output_logs it became clear, something was wrong with the game code. After that our programmers' dove in and found the miscreant and fixed the problem. Yesterday it was tested and given the green light and so this bug is now ready to be fixed in the upcoming 0.14 update.

Now one of the big ones is, of course, the problem with the servers and their short life-span. This is connected to lag, slow down of game after a period of time playing (especially in multiplayer) and sometimes it affects even script. This all is down to the optimization of the core system. Our programmers are coming up every day with ways of rectifying this and we are looking for the right solution. Especially after 0.14 this will be the highest priority and some improvement could be present in 0.15 though hopefully even after that we’ll be able to even further improve the performance of the servers.

So in conclusion, we are working on all the issues reported but had trouble communicating this in the past. After update 0.14 we’ll be focusing all our efforts on polishing up and repairing the game. Send in bugs and output_logs, it helps us a great deal. And problems with servers are very high on our to-do list.

So stay strong and mainly stay classy Ylanders!

Will Ylands gets a feature in the future to be played offline?

Will 0.14 be before Christmas?

Is polishing going to be focused more on the single player rpg aspect or multiplayer aspects?

Definitely ? In fact you won't have to wait much longer... *He said mysteriously*

Both, and by polishing we mean fixing and making everything run smoothly and hopefully without a hitch ?

Not possible at the moment and I don't think it's in the cards, but I'll check on Monday with Aleš ?

It does make sense that you want all the features in before major fixing. Glad to hear fixes will be priority from this point on. Can't wait to see what-all this game becomes at launch. We are in the home stretch, I wish you all the best.

I really hope we have the time needed to fix em all before you start marketing the game. I'll have to send @Houp @Rudy.cz and others food to keep them going on their no-sleep journey :P

Great news.

Specially that "you don't have to wait much for 0.14" ?

Also if you'd like to see our "Documentary" about Bugs, visit our Facebook page ?

https://www.facebook.com/YlandsGame/

In the video you forgot one important step. Creating new bugs while fixing the current bug that you will find later! 99 little bugs in the code. 99 little bugs. Take one down, patch it around. 127 little bugs in the code...

That sounded... uhhh kinda aggressive. If they were little bugs, they were solved by now?

fixing a programming bug is not black&white when you have to run through thousands of lines of code.

I have faith in them ?
