Steamship - Intrepid

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

What with 1.0 well established I've decided to give my Victorian Steamship an overhaul! I've done a lot of research into the Pullman Private train carriages of the 1800s and I think I've done a good job in my attempt to recreate it. This is my personal vessel that I use on the majority of my exploration maps. With the arrival of Vehicle Blueprints (at long last) I can now build a more basic version online! I'm also introducing a number of little scripts such as a fuel capacity indicator next to the helm as well as a number of quality of life features.

Here's the original design I made back in May 2019: https://ylands.com/community/topic/24732-victorian-explorers-steamship/?tab=comments#comment-74512

Here's some screenshots of my personal ship: The Intrepid!

I've made good use of the new window sizes to allow for much clearer views!

4x Steam Engines are located at the rear of the ship. They're housed within their own compartment under a lockable hatch. The chimney is for decoration!

This is a straight-line view upon entering the cabin. As per my previous design, the area is broken down into sections.

This is the study area. It hasn't changed much from it's last design. I have embedded a book cabinet into the wall next to the exit door to save space and to look neat!

Opposite the study area is the new seating area. I have continued the style of embedded furniture by fitting sofas and cabinets into the structure of the cabin.

The bedroom area is located in the forward half of the cabin. It features an embedded wardrobe and a few basic pieces.

Every Victorian explorer needs a portable armoury! How else can he push the boundaries of discovery by shooting at everything that moves! I have a fully stocked armoury including ammunition storage. Note the lights above the door to the Helm Room.

Finally we come to the Helms Room. The new Anchor lever is perfect for saving space. I will eventually add a lot of script-controlled displays in here such as fuel levels, navigation etc.

....And that is the end of my tour! I love how this ship evolved from the basic one I made 5 months ago. It functions very well as a mobile base and a fancy talking point! I'm experimenting with the possibility of evolving my Victorian interior design into luxury vehicles such as train carriages and even some form of airship capable of Island to Island flight.

I'm loving this SO MUCH! ? It's fantastic! The interior is so beautiful, especially the embedded furniture and the way the sections are now...sectioned off by that archway. I did like the skylight though, but it probably makes sense not to have one if it is to Explore, because you don't want you window to break and then have rain coming into the living area ?

P.S. Can I share it on Social Media later next week? ?

Of course, I’d be delighted if you would!

Once I’ve perfected some of the little script features I’d be happy to upload it.

Thanks for your feedback guys! I've still got a few scripting kinks to work out. Due to your brilliant support however, I have decided to publish this vessel for all to enjoy! I've even spent a little more time tending to the interior upholstery! Enjoy guys!
