Hello, I think that this is type of bug/glitch in game.
I found a way how to rob merchants. You can´t take these item´s on picture 1 by hand, but you can use your Demolition hammer (I tried stone and iron hammer) to disassemble item´s which are on table and near blacksmith picture 2,3 and then sell it to him and it was succes (I try too indian merchant and its possible too, for sleeping pads are much more - 70 golds/piece), only steel ingot disappear at night when you have that steel ingot it inventory - when you place it like decoration with button V, It will stay placed.
On picture 5 I tried it on NPC, which can answer you questions at starting location and mushrooms was added to inventory too.
I also figured out that when I use these Demolition hammers on - Small, Medium and Large stones, bird´s nest and iron/clay/flint deposits they will dissapear on one hit, but nothing give you.
