ship stuff by zarwil

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I posted here, so I thought I'd post some pics of projects I've had going on. I haven't played much lately, but I don't want to completely remove myself from this community, so here's some stuff :) ❤️

Frigate (unfinished rigging and interior)

A slightly more black-pearl-ish hull I've been working on:

A chinese junk-ish thing which was never finished:

Aside from this I also started a P1 legion on discord devoted to ships a few months back, along with @Harry Pines and the other lovely people on P1, where I was hoping for people to share assets and help each other build cool ships. Unfortunately since It was created, I have barely had any time to promote or run it, so it's been quiet. If you're interested to join, the discord channel is open to everyone and you don't need to be a member of P1 to be a part of it. I'm planning on sharing hulls, and assets for others to use.

Here's the link to the discord server: https://discord.gg/jFQVuw5

That is...MAGNIFICENT! Really beautiful work. Looks very similar to USS Constitution ? When you're done with it, I'd love to share a picture on Social Media of it on the High Seas with some of these 'being made' pictures ?  Truly spectacular.

@Adam Snellgrove Of course :P

I should also give cred to @Harry Pines who has been quite involved with interior work and some miscellaneous stuff. This project was dead and buried before he tagged along :P

Long time no ship

No worries, still here :P

Exploration craft (~90% finished):

Intended to be built for explore mode,  so it's made with only blue-printable materials. (hopefully basic blocks are craftable in explore?? anyone?)

Also making something larger for explore mode (~40% finished):

And as usual an old ship (~50% finished):

Sleekest hull yet (curved horizontally), with pretty nice aft gallery.

Wow really nice! We are hoping to make an ocean-only explore map as part of our big server change (see #news) in P1 :D

@zarwil The ships are so beautiful?

I do them calmly, I already have 1 and a half...? Someday we can change some boat hulls ?

So it turns out they are not craftable by blueprints... pretty infuriating since I used basic blocks for all the windows and a bunch of other shapes. Please @Adam Snellgrove can you talk to someone about this? What's the harm in having additional building blocks in explore?...

This was the result of a blueprint capture lol:

Extra things in explore! I dunno mate you might be asking a bit much.

Your ships are fantastic, and should be the ships that you can buy in game ;)
Keep up the amazing work and hopefully you get some luck with the blocks being blueprinted

After yesterdays failure I was determined to make something that's usable in explore, i.e. "blue-printable".

So I made a small sailing yacht suitable for a first ship in explore mode.

Ylands_200323_042547.thumb.png.d63424908d74522422c0590837e69761.png

You can find it on the workshop here: https://workshop.ylands.com/asset/3614

You can find The blueprint file in a zipped archive the attatched files below so you can avoid the hastle of creating it yourself.

Simply extract the archive and place the EXPLORER 1.ybp file in:  Steam/userdata/<steamID>/298610/remote/Blueprints

_____________________________

Blueprint cost:

So, yes, clearly much more expensive than a plain ship due to the custom hull, but then again you can't build something like this in explore.

It has one large mast and three small masts (two are hidden inside the hull).

Ylands_200323_042743.thumb.png.bc878e7a6d991d2483197dd36c84b333.png

Easy access to the shores with a rope ladder (You'll have to add this yourself to the blueprint in explore mode).

Ylands_200323_042835.thumb.png.1aa131aab27f376a7c10cfd5aa1be654.png

The storage compartments in the front can easily fit four chests each. Aside from this you can place chests anywhere you like.

Interior is a bit tight, but you can fit your bed and trophies and anything you like to make it feel like home. Space is 20-something in length x 10 width x 5 height.

That's all for now :P

First things first: what amazing ships zarwil!!! LOVE THEM!

Second: I've talked with the designers about the blocks @zarwil and they promised to look into it and see, what could be added into Exploration. They're hoping as much as possible if not all ?

I had the entire day free today and spent my time trying to create something similar to this schooner:

2007-17485.jpg.29dd4a88b4712ccf83b4b6644dc91ea3.jpg

Unfortunately, there is no way to create the rigging of a schooner with the sails provided in Ylands, so I altered it to make it a brig? I guess. Not confident with the terminology lol.

Here's the result:

Also, since this is exactly the type of ship a pirate would use, I made a pirate version as well xD

Zarwil, I love the ship of yours that I downloaded as a composition. Too bad I cannot add anything, like beds, to the back 2/3 of the cabin or the deck above. Also too bad that the ship seems to grow strange huge woody-like growths all over the front of the ship. See image attached. This is happening in a legacy exploration game. I have seen this happen to another ship I downloaded as well. What a bummer. Now I cannot use the ship. Dang, the screenshot would not correctly upload. I going to try again with smaller image. It failed again.

@Jstuts  Ah sorry man I used seeds for some detailing in the bow of a couple of ships. I didn't know they would actually grow in explore hahah, I thought they had to be "planted". If you want to add beds and stuff you could still do it from the editor, like how you placed the ships. If you want to get rid of the growths, maybe remove the seeds as well from the editor. I don't have any plans atm to rework older ships :/

Hahaha! That is so funny, about the seeds! I don't know if I can fix it in the editor either. Because--and this gets to the other problem with the beds--I cannot seem to place beds (in the back 2/3 or the cabin using the editor either. The ghost-bed-to-be-placed stays red until you move it to the very front of the cabin and if you try to place it under the windows you get an error message something like: 'this is outside the vehicle boundaries'. Same about trying to place anything on the upper deck. In the editor I cannot seem to select anything. Ships and other vehicles just aren't like other things at least when they come from compositions offered. I tried and tried. No good. Any way to get a good ship that works?

I was able to make a new local composition by first putting your composition on map, going to editor, selecting it, and commanding a new local composition. Then I could actually select the seeds and remove them. I could not do this directly on the ship that was placed from the download itself, even in editor. And, no luck still on placing beds, either in editor or game play.
