Do you want to be part of the community translation project and translate Ylands into your language? Then you are in the right place! The official languages of the game are English and Spanish, but it would be nice to have it translated to as many languages as possible : )

Here's a few details to take into account:

- Since it's a community project, it's non-remunerated and the reward is the proud of having your texts in the game : P
- You should have an excellent command of English and the language you want to translate the game into (ideally your mother tongue)
- It's necessary to have an account on Crowdin (it's a free and very easy to use localization management platform)
- If you are not sure you'll be able to work on the translations regularly, please do not sign up, as we want to avoid having inactive members : )
- New text will be added to the game with every update – at least once per month (the current amount of words to translate being 3863)

If you are interested, please reply to this post stating your mother tongue, or just send me a private message.

UPDATE 05/10/2018

A few months back we introduced French, German, Italian and Russian as official languages for the game. Since we plan on adding new official languages in the future (still not decided which ones), we're stopping the community translations for the time being. Thanks a lot to those who contributed in the past and to those who were interested in translating the game into their languages

J'ai regardé plusieurs vidéos youtube pour essayer de comprendre la partie scripting et j'avoue que j'ai pas mal galéré.

Primo... Beaucoup de ses vidéos ne sont plus d'actualité aux vues des différentes mises à jour faites sur le jeu et la je m'adresse également aux développeurs pour le coup qui devraient refaire leurs copies.

Secondo, se serait bien de les faire en français, car pour ma part, lorsque je regarde une vidéo en anglais, j'essaie de déduire ce que je vois et de trouver les correspondances en français sur ma liste de tuiles, mais je n'ai pas encore saisie le résonnement des tuiles car sur les vidéos elle sont certe expliquées par celui qui filme, mais pour un spectateur comme moi, je loupe surement des informations très importante qui sont exprimées oralement et me manquent cruellement lorsque je veux faire la même chose.

Donc si quelqu'un se sent de s'y atteler ce serait bien.

Because we want to make easier the life of those of you translating Ylands, we are releasing a feature that should allow you to see in real time the progress of your translation. This way you can check in the game right away if the word you translated fits the in-game context or if the term you are using is too long for it to fit, for example. This is available as of today's update (09/03/2016).

So what do I need to do to see my text in the game right away?

1 - Go to the Ylands project in Crowdin, select your language and click on the 3 dots next to the file you want to check

2 - Click on "Download Translations"

3 - Copy the file(s) you just downloaded (Base.nl.csv for the Dutch version, for example) and put them in Steam\userdata\<steam_id>\298610\local\Localization (if the Localization folder does not exist, create it)

Now the game should load your file(s) instead of the original ones.

4 - First of all, add the "--translator" parameter in the launcher - right click on the Ylands shortcut and open Properties and add the parameter in the field "Target" (without deleting what's already written there).

If you're running the game on Steam, go to your Steam library, right click on Ylands, open Properties, click SET LAUNCH OPTIONS button, enter '-translator' (without quotes).

In order to see the Russian texts, you need to add the "-testrussian" parameter.

5 - If everything went well, the next time you launch the game you will see a message letting you know that your texts are being used

6 - If you switch the language to yours (Dutch in this case), you can see the progress that has been made so far

Let's say you wanted to check the word "Hoofdinstellingen" and you are not happy about how it fits.

7 - You go back to the file (Base.nl.csv in this case), you change the word to EENHOORN (or whatever word you want to use), and if you exit/relaunch the game (after saving the file) you will see the change there

Take into account that for the changes to really apply to the game (and be loaded with the original files) you will have to make those changes in Crowdin.

Note: the files need to be deleted/re-exported after the game is updated with the new version.

With the new update, some words are not translate into french version (in the picture).

Center Map = Recentrer la Carte

Close = Fermer

Now that we have some languages as "experimental" translations in the game (remember that you have to use the "-translator" parameter), feel free to report here any issues you find with the texts in the game: wrong translations, cut-offs, untranslated texts, or any suggestion you might have in general.

You can also do this for Spanish and Czech, even if they're "official" translations, of course

i have a question for future update about translation.. I'm living in south korea. my mother tongue is also korean language. so i'm not good at english, i'm really bad of it. i can only understanding and write very simple things. and not all my country people's good at english. just some people's good at it, but some people's don't. and I don't think Don't need to translate the game in korean for right now, but some of the people's don't think that. they're really need it so bad. but i think it's very difficult and hard things for you guys. So what i want to know is, there is have some future plan or considering about future update that able to see other language in game, include korean.

and that's all. I hope you guys don't think I' m rude. i just want to know that you guys have a plan or considering. and if you guys have, i want them to know about that.

i really love this game and I hope this game will be famous even in my country when it release in future

Need one example? ok, here goes, "Vacuum Tube" in French is now a "Vacuum Cleaner Tube"... when it should be a "Tube Of Empty" (literally).

• Stick -> Branche (Because the translation of "Stick" and "Pole" were the same)
• Pole -> Bâton

(French to french)

• Plant de Lin -> Lin
• When the food is roast use "Cuite" not "Rotie"
• Bouts de Bois -> Morceaux de Bois
• For the basic "Log" use "Bûche" and for the small piece it's okay to use "Rondin"

I know it's not a lot of words but it's a start and sorry if I made any mistake I'm still learning English...
