  1. Let me say I purchased the game about a year ago, way before it was even on steam, I enjoyed it so much that i bought 3 extra copies for my friends. We played for weeks, and being in pre alpha I had so much hope that this would turn out to be an amazing game. After a few weeks, we had basically done it all, so stopped playing until some more content came, this was over a year ago..

I understand that the devs are working on the game, I just feel they may have gone off track, with updates such as "meaningful music" or this new scripting editor, I believe players want to actually play the game and content within the game, not worry about editors and awards the game has won, sure you can show case that once you have a fully functional game, I am sorry But i have to agree with RacerX at this point, the game has many untuned bugs to say the least, the multiplayer lags and doesnt function like it should, I tried to play a little last week, and no new content really added into the game, still the same small islands, with the same buildings, creatures, domes and scenery.

I notice there's a few righteous fanboys on these forums that attack anybody that doesn't agree with their views, you need to understand though, there is plenty wrong with the game at this time, and if you see my other posts I've given my personal views and what needs to maybe get added into the game, but it seems the devs are occupied with things to please the minority who praise the game on every little post or update (good or bad) that the devs seem to make.

  2. So being a player for quite a while, way before it was even released or announced on steam for that matter, I was playing Ylands.

I was so intrigued with the game so much that i bought 3 extra copies just for my friends and I to be able to play together. The excitement of building and gathering just to be able to move to a next island gave us purpose to keep playing, alot of fun was had, ships and boats were built, then after a few short months we just all sort of stopped playing.  Why?

Well a few things come to mind, but mainly one of the core issues with us was that every island although looking a bit different, was more of the same, resources were the same, what you could build was the same, just nothing really new and we thought to ourselves, man this game has soo much potential, I wont talk about the bugs and the connection issues, i just want to talk about the core gameplay.

    1. Islands should all be different, but necessary, having different materials so you can advance to the next one

    2. Have raiding.. military bases comes to mind, raid it, get the gear, get the cool items! in fact, have a raid that requires you to attain a certain material, that you need to advance, so you can build that helicopter or a rifle..

    3. I've been playing Pixark for the past few months, and while its a fun game, it got stale quickly because a lack of purpose.. after taming and building there's nothing really left to do, i dont want Ylands to go down this road, I believe there will be quests? but make them mean something, not just go collect that, or kill this.

    4. Space race? what if we could build up and travel to space and find new planets to explore and build on, with all new techs and armors..

These are just a few of the things I thought of, I see so much potential in this game, just don't want to see it go to waste, and reading a few of the steam reviews, things are not looking very good. I can see the devs are passionate about this, so here's to hoping we get the full potential from this awesome game.

  3. In my opinon having resources respawn wouldnt be so great, it would take away the need to explore to other islands, it also makes you think about using your resources carefully. If you want a solid multiplayer experience, the best way to go is to play with a few other friends, that way you dont have to worry about all the stuff you just mentioned.

  4. Just wondering will add creater cube still remain in multiplayer games in the future? I feel it will take away alot of the adventure in exploration mode if people are allowed to use it

Sure thing, we're here but I have to say we are at loss as to what could be the cause of this - I've never heard of anything like that before. I can't think of anything the game could do to affect the system as a whole. The issues has been passed over to the programmers so maybe they will be able to come up with some ideas. In the meantime could you provide us with the game log copied after the game kicked you out? Thanks!

Sure can do that, where would I find the log?

  6. The idea of pirates are great, there's so many possibilites you could do with this, for instance they could have a strong hold on the island where you and your friends would need to gear up and raid it, and in return for completing the raid get amazing loot!

Man its exciting thinking about it!

  7. What I mean by when the game kicks me off the internet, i mean literally lol, my web pages wont load, my steam goes offline and all my other online apps stop working such as mumble and all the rest of it, until I quit the current game and go back into main menu (game is fine until friend tries to join then all this happens) then everything starts working again, its the strangest thing. I can feel when my friend tries to join it has a major lag spike or frame rate drop.

So we play most nights, and most nights we start new games, I go into main menu, multiplayer, host game, put a password then he joins, and other then the frame rate drop as soon as he joins the game runs fine.

As i mentioned the one time he was still in game and i made a propeller pack he started lagging immensely he said, we didnt think of it at the time, then a few times after i explored without him and made propeller packs while he wasnt there and when he tried to join it was doing the same thing, so i suspect it could have something to do with the propeller packs, or the exploring to new islands. Generally the game will work fine if i dont play much without him and we continue that same game.

  8. So this has happened a few times, after we finish playing, i carry on exploring and build a propeller pack, then when my friend tried to join the next evening, the game kicks me off my whole internet and my friend cant join and we have to start a new game.

I am not sure if its because of the propeller pack or because i explore new lands without him and the game glitches

A few ideas to make the game even more awesome.

1º - Pirates - This game needs to have NPC's with more AI. Pirates should be a way for you, before going on a journey, prepare yourself. Ships with cannons and stuff like that.

2º - Robots - You should be able to build robots. For example, robots that could help you get your building materials.

That would be crew members operating in a ship cannons to hit pirates that would attack you.

3º - Treasures. You should have maps, treasures with gold diamonds.

4º - Sunken pirate ships should have also treasures and materials.

5º - When your ship went down in a fight, the world should be persistent and all your stuff should stay on the bottom of the sea. That way you should be able to explore the sea.

6º- Sea structures. Common it's obvious.

     Regards

Those are great ideas! Even building robots like Terminator like robots would be awesome!

    Hi guys,

from what you're asking it seems that many of you see coyns as something that we will be charging everyone for everything - which can't really be further from the truth :). I believe that many of you won't really feel the impact of the monetization system at all.

Since there are actually several topics we're discussing here, I will create an official structured FAQ about monetization that will be regularly updated to answer your questions - I'd like to have it online sometime tomorrow (I will let you know in here when that happens). In its first version, it should (hopefully) answer all the questions you had so far in here.

This thread will obviously stay open indefinitely so that you can keep asking additional questions and whenever there's something not covered by that FAQ we will discuss it and add it there for everyone to see.

Hey Ales, on a bit of a different note, I hope the planned update for the end of the month will have some new items and crafting (other then the cars and engines) in exploration to mess around with, been holding off playing so I dont get everything done at once :)

  11. Guys i am sorry i understand where you guys are coming from, I really do, but i don't think going this route is the best for the game, i mean part of the charm of the game is creating your items from materials found in the world. It takes away that feeling of hard work and fun factor of finding stuff if you can just actually buy items.

The game is amazing, it has such charm.. and this is coming from a guy thats played everything from Quake, Dota, Starcraft, Diablo, gaming for 28 years, and i can tell you now this game is special!

Just hope buying items doesn't become apart of what this game is meant to be.

You can't live on your propellor pack either can you? You can't have any workshops on there, you can't carry other people, you can't carry cars on it etc. :) The list goes on and on!

Yes, it takes a some of  the social aspect out of the game, dont get me wrong, i love my propeller pack, especially while playing alone, but in multiplayer it should be limited somewhat, or else everyone just constantly using their packs, all i am saying is have a heavy fuel charge on them thats all :)

Propeller Pack will allow you to fly, but not carry cargo!

It certainly is better than a raft or a tiny ship, but if you can build a large ship, you can carry a lot with you, such as crafting stations, a home, and all your acquired loot!

Thats true yes, I was just meaning the exploration side of things, its sort of the "easy way" out if you will method of flying over the ocean.

  14. So I was wondering what the current discussion is on propellar packs? It seems once you get this you wont need ships and boats to explore.. which i believe can dampen the experience as i think the boats/ships system is awesome.

Are there maybe plans for the ylandium to run out when flying or other measures to limit/consumption propellar packs?

I hope you had a good time exploring so far. Your progress so far looks impressive, how many hours did you put to get this far? But most importantly, there are plans to expand the Exploration much beyond of what it is now so even if you feel finished this time, it may be very different few updates along the way.

I love hearing this, to be honest my friend and I are not fully crafting everything in a hurry because we are having so much fun, don't really want to explore everything at once, there is so much you devs can do for the exploration its incredible to even think about it.

Would love to be able to change the weather using a console command. When it's really foggy it's not 'stream friendly' so this a kind of selfish request

Again, maybe for creative mode but not for exploration.

  17. "  Allowing us to edit the exploration mode is a massive thing for me personally. For example in creative you can edit the number of POI's on islands, island size etc.

I don't really agree with that, thats what exploration is all about, you have to make due with what you are given and survive on that, i wouldn't like the idea of editing and changing what we can and cant do in exploration.
