You mean that it takes more space than what the grid shows?

Exactly! This wouldn't be bad per se but it's not centred on the grid either, it's only on the left side where it sticks out.

EDIT: It's also bigger on the backside (only the hitbox, not the model), since I am unable to place the helm against a wall. I can however place the helm first and then build the wall.

there is a small block hovering in the air below the flying cube (looks like a iron/steel strut thing). is that important in finding the key(s)?

I've found a similar thing a few hundred meters away, looked like the roman letter I?

  3. When trying to do some physics test (make a dry dock) I tried to drop a boat hull on the ground. Instead of falling all the way in the big hole I made it stopped at what normally would be the water level and did floating animations there. The hole didn't have *any* water inside or flowing in at that time. See attached screenshot!

  4. Hello guys,

Wanted to test how water physics work and make something nice in creative but for some reason the game keeps crashing. This happened quite a few times when I was " terraforming", both using explosive kegs and using the terraformer. I basically tried to make a huge hole and then let the water flow into it. Most crashes appeared when igniting the kegs, some just random while flying around. Also when I tried to build a ship hull I couldn't see the water below me (a quite big square, about 100x100m. As soon as I went to the next square I couldn't see that one but I could see the one I was above before.

I can't attach the Savefile so I'll try to send it to Ane instead.

  5. Nice update we've got here, the way boat hulls work is really an improvement! I've got a lot of feedback, questions and suggestions as well:

    Overall feedback:

I'm really happy with the priorities of the development. I've played a lot of early access games, a lot sandbox survival but also DayZ standalone and I can't stress enough that prioritizing is key. It's nice to see that dedicated servers and the way boats behave got some love. After testing the game I've found that a lot of mechanics are working which I thought weren't.

    Questions:

    • In the funfair I couldn't find the pharaoh's name, can you give me a hint as to where to find it?
    • Is there a way to transport water? I've seen the lake/dam which you had to blow up, can I for example fill a bucket and empty it somewhere to create a lake?
    • Do boat hulls displace water?
    • Is there a way to repair ship hulls? And can you lift ships after they have sunk?
    • Is center of gravity accounted for in ships?

    Suggestions:

    • More people per server, so we can start having some communities!
    • "Infdev", infinite growing maps based on mapseeds.
    • "Lego" boat hulls! I already said it last time I think but at the moment there's so much space/volume wasted in the boat hulls. This could be either just a "bath tub" or a full modular design with different bows/sterns and middle parts so you can choose the length/width and modern/old styling. In case hulls actually displace water this could be below the waterline, if not it could stay above. Also, the modular hull has the advantage of having low sides so you can have windows low in the hull:

    • Afbeeldingsresultaat voor lego pirate hull
    • Simply more blocks to work with! Inverted triangles, a lot more smaller blocks, more color variations etcetera. Also some flatter/longer slopes to make more detailed hulls.

Thanks for the nice work again!

  6. If you try to write on a blank sign that's placed on a ship, whether it be against the hull or any block on the ship, the sign disappears as soon as you confirm the text.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Build a ship.

    2. Place a blank sign anywhere on the ship.

    3. Try to write something using a knife.

    4. Confirm your text.

    Severity: Minor

    Repeatable: Always

  7. The distances at which objects won't be rendered anymore or are rendered at a lower Level of Detail differ greatly depending on the block type. Because of this the rendering of ships or buildings at larger distances get really ugly: For example all the slopes and windows on my boat won't render, first you only see the normal cube blocks, stairs and railings. When getting closer the rest of the boat will render as well.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Build a ship or house, using a large variety of blocks and block types.

    2. Move away from the ship whilst keeping an eye on it.

Severity: Minor - It's unpleasing to look at things from a distance, could get more troublesome when Multiplayer and ship PVP becomes a thing.

    Repeatable: Always

  8. Currently you can easily missclick with the annihilator when building a boat, effectively destroying your entire boat. This is extremely frustrating as you simply destroy an awful lot of work in a split second, either by mistake or faulty hitboxes. Please make a popup that asks whether you REALLY want to destroy your ship.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Build a perfectly nice ship, preferably spend at least an hour on it.

    2. Misplace a block on the hull.

    3. Missclick when trying to annihilate the block, hitting the hull instead.

    4. Cry

Severity: Extreme - Makes you lose every little enjoyment you get from the game if this occurs to you.

    Repeatable: Always

  9. There's a problem in creative mode with 2 table lamps: The smallest one is not visible in the item list. If you place the lamp that looks like a man holding the lamp, you randomly get the one with the man holding the lamp or the smallest kind of table lamp.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Go into creative mode

    2. Place a few of those table lamps that look like a person holding a ball.

Severity: Minor - Does not prevent game play.

    Repeatable: Always

  10. Try the temperate biome, that's where I usually find mine, on the places already mentioned!

edit: I just checked a "create" map, the resources  per island are random there, regardless of biome.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions! You guys are the best :x

I'll make sure the teams knows about them when we decide the content of the next update.

To add to that: active feedback from one of the community managers like you and even the developers really makes it far more satisfying to report bugs and come up with great suggestions! It gives the feeling of being heard and that the time invested by the community is being appreciated. It could be as little as the post you just made, the sneak peeks or responses to the bug/feedback topics :)

  12. I'm not sure if it's luck or actually true, but on all my 3 maps the ore location has been related to the island biome. Are you playing on the explore or create scenario? As "create" scenario's would only have 1 biome I guess you would be unable to find all the materials. Could anyone confirm that ore are biome based or biome exclusive?

  13. Tame horses constantly jump over a fence, even if you make it 2 blocks higher it will go over. Tested this on level grounds. I believe a normal fence should be high enough to contain your animals, right now it looks more like a cage :/  Maybe make it so that horses, once tamed, will jump lower when nobody is riding them?

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Put a horse in your fenced field

    2. Wait

    3. Watch your horse escape

Severity: Minor - Does not prevent game play, yet very annoying.

    Repeatable: Always

  14. As soon as you walk away quite a bit from your fields and go back you find your horses walking around all over the place. Height is not the issue as the fence is 3 large fences high. For some reason most hogs do stay in most of the times.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Have tame horses inside a fence

    2. Move away from the field

    3. Come back and go search your horses

Severity: Minor - Does not prevent game play but very annoying.

Repeatable: Doesn't always happen, just a lot of the times.

  15. The angle the sail is at on the boat is not always correct. I think it has to do with the change of wind direction, because when you get out and in again the direction is usually correct again.

Between crosswinds and having the wind from behind the sail angle is correct in general, if not for the bug mentioned above, however when sailing towards the wind the angle gets smaller again when it should get bigger, and should rapidly turn when you cross the wind direction (I hope this all makes sense!).

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Get in a boat, sail quite a bit until the wind direction changes

    2. Sail some circles and see that the sail direction is wrong

    3. Get out of the boat, get back in, see that the direction is corrected.

Severity: Minor - Does not prevent game play.

Repeatable: Not 100% reliable, as it's reliant on changing wind directions and it's a combination of a bug and a design flaw.

  16. I still haven't found out how the spawning of materials works yet, also haven't had an island without any iron. It's usually on the top or halfway the big mountain (in case of explore scenario's). For other materials I build a boat like you suggested :)

  17. I hope you guys don't take all my critique personal, so far I really enjoyed playing this game and the potential it has is huge. I can't wait to see where this is going!

    Top priority:

-Indeed I'd like to play larger scenario's with my friends. There is very little fun in doing this game solo. Being able to play with friends will get many more players into this game.

    0.19:

-I'd like to have modular boat hulls, so you can have multiple bows, sterns and middle sections. It would be nice if we could choose the amount of middle sections, up to a maximum ofcourse, so we can choose multiple length/width combinations. Also we could have both more modern and more classic bows and sterns.

-The ability to build below decks/below the waterline: I hope building below deck will be in upon release, since I feel this is one of the key features to make building a boat enjoyable as it gives way more options to build realistic looking boats. Building below decks is easy/possible with the current state of the game I believe, building below the waterline requires some changes to the way water behaves. Currently water goes through the bottom of the small boat as well.

-Sail performance: It would be nice to have the sailing performance based on the actual ship/sails. For example square rigged ships sail faster with the wind coming from behind while lateen and bermuda rigged ships perform better with crosswinds. This concept could be further improved by taking the ships weight and hull type (for example the modular hulls I talked about) into consideration.

    More block options:

-Currently I miss inverted triangle blocks, both in normal slopes and the flat slopes. Also more sloped options would be nice.

-More options for different block types: the flat slope corners are only available in sandstone and regular stone. It would be nice to have those on other materials as well.

-More colored variants of blocks: maybe have more wood types and all the blocks available. For example the oriental wood has 6 long beams at the moment while regular wood doesn't.

-A paint system: the option to paint for example wood, so we can have more colorful boats and houses. Currently many materials don't blend together well due to the color palettes used.

-More options for glass: Angled/sloped glass panes, uneven and even width glass panes etc.

-Double doors: Currently the doors are not exactly in the middle of a block, and they will swing in opposite directions, therefor making double doors isn't possible right now. Flipping one of the doors upside down is possible with a few of the doors at the moment, but the doorhandle will be slightly lower/higher.

General things that don't work 100% well, mainly visually:

-Textures/block sizes: the current block sizes and their textures make it quite hard to make good looking houses: for example, the bricks are only in 2x2, so you can't make uneven width/length houses. If you instead choose to only use small 1x1 cubes the textures start to look repeating in a weird way.

    Things to consider:

-Currently there is a limited amount of islands per map, and therefor a limited amount of space resources, mainly in the form of stone. It would be nice if the world would be "infinite" like for example on Minecraft, where new islands would generate when exploring. If you were to have a server with a large group of players the islands would soon be packed and there would be a fight over resources and free land.

Have more options in the world generator:

-Have the explore scenario editable via the world generator.

-Currently the size difference among the islands is too small. It would be nice to have some really big islands and some really small ones, placed on variable distances. In case of the "infinite" world you could have island groups/formations.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I hope it helps improve the game even further!
