Only glitch in the game that has helped

I've had the glitch before where it shows what is at the bottom of the sea in several areas before but this is the first time it helped me find a wreckage. It didn't have any markers such as things floating above it so I would have never found it. I didn't do anything to make this happen.. It just does on my map in a lot of areas.
