Glad that I can inspire someone. There are endless possibility, not including the mods that will come in the future. Even in limited state like now, we have lot's of possibility, especially on land structure. Did you touch the game logic yet? "It's where the true power of Editor come from" xD

I have been working on Vehicles since my Lighthouse project. I know that it is easier to copy/duplicate groupings on land than on vehicles... that is what makes vehicles a chalenge in a way. My lighthouse is powered by an inverted wind turbine under the structure.

you can have infinite power in your land structures by planting inverted wind turbines under them in crawlspaces. This is of course, edit mode building.

I do do a lot of survival building as well, but so does everyone else.

  2. I had to resort to fishing poles as my dingy hoist jigs.... not optimal. We need more building tools it here. Sure it is fun to get creative with what is available, but it would be nice to build with some solid (unpickable) materials.

well done sir! it looks just like tug boat irl, really awesome detail.. #musttooktimetoplacethoseonebyone xD

Hey thanks, You are definitely one of the builders that inspire me and give me ideas and stir my creative sludge. We are in the infancy of what we will be able to produce in Ylands. just wait and see what people come up with in the next year or so. As the developers hone the aspects, and the community grows, the limits become endless.

  4. This is my Houseboat explorer. Supposed to resemble an old tug boat converted into a pleasure craft. Still some detail to finish.

Tip 1 : Building in Edit Mode... If you desire power on your ship when the engines are off, you can hide a wind turbine in the hull with just the power node exposed.

Some of the lights on this ship are powered this way. The switch on the aft controls them.

Tip 2 : I use a lot of (Pier Supports) in my builds for detail and for a smaller dimension building block.  Steel Rods, Large Steel Rods and Poles work well for detail as well, but Pier Supports are not pickable after placed. I also use Small Wooden Shelves a lot for window sills.

    Enjoy.

Edit: it has lots of storage under the deck boards... Storage design and some hull aspects borrowed from YYZDANIEL's  boats. Check out his work.

    Awesome. We need glass triangles.

Or at least 45 and 60 degree panes. I'ts a pain going into edit mode to achieve the beauty this game offers... plus it feels like cheating lol.

Sneek peek at my new boat.

  6. In edit mode, you can place several glass panes , then group them by Ctrl+ right click, and then hold V while you rotate the  whole group of glass at once.

This works with any block or object. Just connect them and move or copy/paste them all over the place.

  7. I have been playing on your server Whip. I was playing as Capt. Ben Betour. I was building a ship, but i was running in place withe 2 second lag spikes every 5 minutes and it got to hard to play.

The only time it was playable, it seemed, was when there were only 1-3 people on the server.

Is this a known bug? How does it bug your saves?

I heard someone say it in a YouTube... can't remember who. The problem I ran into was that with the energy stove in the vehicle, when I saved my work (edit mode) and then opened the work again, in either play mode or edit mode, a lot of my progress was reverted like paint and there were blocks and stuff that I had eliminated, back in place... often occupying the same square as a later added object or block.

The only way I was able to fix it, was to bust the stove in "play mode". Who knows, maybe if you place one in play mode it will be fine, and only the "edit added" ones are buggy.

    I'll try to test that.

Nice! I just wish there were 2x2 hatches so you could cover smaller gun ports.

Yeah, here I just nudged the cannons over to the center of the 3x3 and set them on top of some horizontal pier supports.

Nice! Watch out for monster polar bears ;)

I take it that you have read the Dan Simmons Novel and guessed that I had as well. Or did they finally make a television show based on it? I have only read the book so the ship is wholly from my imagination and my recollections of what a Spanish Galeon would look like. I realize that the H.M.S. Terror was a British vessel, but I really set out to build a Pirate style ship, and the name jumped at me. Cheers.

  11. Added more detail and refined The Terror a bit. There are no decent railings that go up stairs, so i had to get inventive. I think it looks better than before.

I added a foremast and a rope with flags on it and a ladder up the center mast to the crow's nest. I died the second time I fell off of that thing, and all my items flipped the boat over. I placed some walking planks along the spar for a nice high dive into the water on a hot day.

Lately I have been building other types of ships and vehicles... I may have to build a new pirate ship now that I have figured out how to build a little easier and developed some technique.

I'm currently working on  a Steamer/Tug type ship, on top of the Motor home I built Today. Someone needs to take this game away from me lol.  I have been playing/building around 30 hours this weekend... conservative estimate.

Hmmm no offence, but when you make small compositions that take less than 1 minute to make, you should pack those compositions together, then you just filling up the workshop. Thats just my personal opinion but i don't think its right to have the first pages  filled with small compositions that are made easily in 1 minute and then big compositions that take long to make be behind everything.

let's see you make one of the boars on a spit, or the lean-to... not only could you not make something like that in a minute, but I bet you could not do it at all. No offence.

  13. The Camper I made was too Small. Now we are camping in style.

I made the mistake of putting an energy stove in it and it bugged my saves. I had to destroy it with a hammer before i could get a stable save.

This is a "coal pusher"  I put a regular stove in it, and it has spotlights for headlights lanterns embedded in the ceiling. I used a canvas for the sink with a pipe and some inverted spikes for a faucet.
