Not great news but very helpful. Sounds like it might work, so I'll run the driver update overnight. Thanks a lot.

John, my PC Specs are the following:

    GTX 760 1.5GB

    Intel Core i7 4770

    With 12GB DDR3.

1TB HDD, Running Win 8.0, plenty of free space remaining.

    Attached: DXDiag as .txt

    DxDiag.txt

Thanks again, I'll post on updates tomorrow.

    P.S.: Should I expect a Day-One patch tonight?

Your PC spec seems like there should be no issue, I would have to concur with the driver updates, failing that, any supporting software or technology that your card or operating system (windows 8) might require (windows updates or game ready technology).

I hate to sound like a sales-person as well! But you can get your hands on a free upgrade to windows 10, if you were interested in doing such a thing (expires at the end of this month) - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgrade

It seems likely that windows 10 may resolve any issues that windows 8 might face.

Just bought and downloaded the game on release, launching it instantly gives me an error message explaining there has been a crash and a crash report has been saved. I tried the usual steps, restarting PC, running as admin, verifying game files.

I am hesitant to refresh my Graphics card drivers (Just did that a few days ago, download takes too long due to slow internet and I don't have time for it right now).

I was told to disable Rivaturner, EVGA PrecisionX or MSI Afterburner. I don't know what these are, and my task manager is showing no such thing.

Attached, the output_log file from Ylands_Data (as requested by a dev on Steam forums),  WinRAR compressed crash folder.

Note: I was also asked to include an "output_log_clean", but there is no such thing in my game files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please run a DXDiag and post the results?

Do you know your PC system specs?

In Windows, select Start  and enter dxdiag into the search box on the taskbar. Select dxdiag from the results.
In the tool, select Save All Information for an easily shared format.

This is marked as resolved, yet I do not see something declared as the solution. I am having the exact same problem, so I'd like to know how you fixed this.

Hi there, this was resolved on an individual case basis, rather than a catch-all!

"After googling the error contained within the files i found the solution that worked. I had to shut down RivaTuner Statistics Server /  MSI Afterburner and the game launched just fine."

I will see if I can help in your thread.

  5. Hi all, somewhat trivial bug, but perhaps a fix for the future -

If you are sailing your ship/boat/raft, and you bump in to an animal such as a shark/seagull/vulture/horse etc - the animal acts as a greater or larger or denser object than your ship, and the animal is able to push or even throw your ship aside as if it weighed nothing at all.

I think if a ship hits an animal, that animal should go flying, or perhaps die?

However, I would quite like to be able to take a horse on to a ship - and sail the ship without the horse flipping it! The horse remains static as the ship begins to move, when the horse bumps in to the mast or another part of the ship that creates a blockage for its path etc, this creates an anchor effect. Also it would be nice for the horse to not die in the process if animals are made to die on impact!

    Thanks :)

Which port is used for the dedicated server? i do not have the option to change the port in the server manager

I believe there is currently no Steam compatible dedicated server available at the moment, if you are referring to the multiplayer functionality within the current Steam game client, you do not need to port-forward your connection I don't think.

If you do perhaps, it could be the Steam port of 28015?

I don't know what Optimus enabled means. ;)

    https://www.lifewire.com/nvidia-optimus-technology-834096

    "

    What is Optimus?
Optimus is a technology by NVIDIA that automatically adjusts graphics based on how you're using the device to better conserve battery power on a laptop computer.

Sometimes this is referred to as a hybrid graphics system.

    How does Optimus work?
Optimus transitions between integrated graphics and a discrete GPU automatically based upon what applications a user launches so you can utilize high performance graphics during gameplay or when watching an HD movie. When you're done or are simply surfing the web, Optimus-enabled systems can switch to integrated graphics to prolong battery life, which is a win-win for users.

What are the benefits of using a laptop with Optimus technology?
The key benefit of using a notebook with Optimus technology is better battery life as the system isn't running the more power demanding discrete graphics card non-stop. By automatically switching between integrated graphics to a dedicated graphics card, you'll find battery life to improve in mixed computer usage situations. Since the system is done automatically, it also improved upon previous hybrid graphics systems that required the users to manually switch between the two graphics systems.

    "

    - If your laptop is Optimus enabled, in Control Panel - Power management - are you using a high performance profile setting?

    Hi Guys!

i started the game, everything went fine till i destroyed my first loom and wheel to move elsewhere on the island. Cant interact with either of the new ones, also not with the new build smelting furnace. And when i harvest f.e. iron, no ore appears until a few minutes later they all laying where they should appear in the first place. Cant interact with fire or horse either.... maybe huge lag? I don't know...right clicked on furnace and waited a few minutes...nothing.

Still a great game, looking forward to no bugs! :)

    Regards

One possible work-around you could attempt, to continue on with your game, would be to load that game in to the editor, and delete your character (this has worked in the past for similar issues).

You could also spawn in some things to replace your inventory in the process.

After saving the game in the editor, and upon reloading the game, you will likely be prompted to create a new character, and your things *should* work again.

Also submitting your game logs etc via the game client link prior to doing any of this, may help the developers address the issue and resolve it faster!

Not sure if this helps, no idea if this is Ylands related or your system related, however in the meantime prior to a Ylands official commenting, some things I would try -

    Restart PC

    Restart Steam

If still giving this issue -

    Uninstall and reinstall the game.

If still giving this issue -

Check for the latest DirectX and game-ready prerequisites are installed.

Check for driver updates for your GeForce GTX 760 and / or your Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3680.

  10. Hi all,

So I built a ship in the editor and painted it navy grey, all worked well, saved the ship as a composition file, all worked well.

I then created a new explore mode game, loaded back to the menu, then loaded that game in to the editor.

I then pasted in my ship composition, however, the navy grey colours that I had set to it, and that show up on it pre-spawn (the preview), become randomised when I spawn it in to the world.

By randomised, I mean they are any odd colour combination it feels like.

I repeated the process, and this time, with a new explore mode game save, the colours were different!

I repeated the process several more times, each time I create a new explore mode save game, it spawns in with a new set of colours.

If I spawn it in, then delete it, and spawn it in again, it is the same random colour for each map - almost like the explore mode save is choosing the colours!

Hope this helps and it can be resolved, as my navy grey ship, doesn't look so good as bright red, pink and brown!

I can film a video if needed, the ship is on the workshop otherwise.

    *** Edit ***

Okay so, it seems that, if I spawn in the composition in a new editor scenario (not an explore mode) - it spawns in with no paint at all, except for the original large ship that I built it on.

Further still, it only seems to spawn in correctly, on the very same scenario that I built it on - suggesting that the paint colours are being stored in the scenario, and not the composition file, thus it going haywire as soon as these two factors are separated.

    *** Edit ***

Another possible contributing factor, the original ship was a composition created by my other account! I just noticed. Only the Large Ship object itself is showing up as under that account, the rest is showing up under this account.

Making a video to explain this better.

  11. Just released on the workshop ready for Steam release! https://ylands.net/asset/93

The Big Bertha! She's a houseboat, and she's massive! Complete with 40 (overkill) engines, setup on a self charging system, with 3 floors and an observation deck, you could build your entire town on this beauty!

There's also some very handy booty in the chests!

why i have no Stem key :)^^

Steam Keys were sent out to those whom had purchased the game, prior to sales halting awaiting the Steam release (in approximately 16 hours).

If this is the case for you, a Steam Key should have been sent to the email address that you used to register the Bohemia Interactive account with.

It should have been sent some weeks ago, is there no email?

It seems like you have been effected between the gap of the old game client being discontinued, and the new game client releasing on Steam (in 18 hours). I can't imagine anything other than waiting till the release on Steam will work for you now, I'm sorry to say. :(

Absence does make the heart grow fonder though so... :)

    Hello,

I'm designing some buildings now in the editor, and I noticed that when the part count goes up the editor starts to struggle. When deleting an entire group of blocks, only half of the blocks get deleted when you try to delete them, some blocks are unable to delete at all. When grouping a quiet large amount of blocks it can freeze the game for 5-10 minutes. My PC specs are quite good and should be capable of handling this easier, also the functions don't require much calculation I believe (just simple grouping and deleting actions?). The builds aren't that big. Some blocks that are impossible to delete I simply drag all the way under the surface to make them "disappear", but this isn't the right solution I believe :D

Edit: Also notice that this behaviour is inconsistent. When reloading the map and repeating the same action (deleting the exact same group of blocks) it sometimes works flawless, and sometimes gets messed up. I haven't been able to find out what causes either situation.

I've had the can't delete issues occur for me several times on larger builds, though I'm struggling to reproduce it at the moment. I think it's in one of my streams so I will see if I can find an instance of it. Secondly, if I spawn in something large like a town, and then spawn it again on top a couple of times, then try and highlight all blocks to group them, my system also freezes up for about 10 minutes!

There was a version on Steam for a short period of time on Tuesday and the day before where the issue manifested for all players. We found out the cause and fixed it.

The version that is on Steam since Tuesday evening does not suffer from the issue in the same manner anymore.

So logs from Steam version 37772 and above or from the launcher version are of the most interest to us, but all logs are welcome.

If any of you is still experiencing this issue, please let me know, we rolled a fix that will allow players to manually toggle an option, that will get rid of the problem at a performance cost.

The reason we do not want to toggle the option by default for everyone is that we are unable to reproduce the problem ourselves and the affected players seem to be in minority. We basically need your help to help us find out the cause.

We need the logs from the game sessions where you encountered the issue and ideally also DXDIAG of the machine you play on to identify what is causing the issue. We would be super grateful to those that experience it for checking whether it happens every time or just sometimes, DXDIAG, and sending us logs before enabling the toggle.

I and anyone else trying to use boats in multiplayer are still having this issue >.<

Here's how you reproduce the problem your selves, or at least something related to it - this is not a minority issue at all, unless you also consider ships and multiplayer to only be interacted with by a minority of players, which would be incorrect.

I will show you one way to trigger this issue consistently, but please note this was originally posted in great detail, three weeks ago, prior to Steam release, and the people experiencing this issue are now widespread, not isolated, and these are game-breaking bugs.

Okay so, I first try to trigger the 'earthquaking' while in single player (by hopping on a raft), and it doesn't happen, then I enable multiplayer, and test the raft and it doesn't happen.

I then host a multiplayer session and join to it as a guest, and repeat the test - and the earthquaking is triggered with this method consistently. After triggering it, as I climb up the hillside, I am constantly falling under it and flying above it. Last time I tested this, I completely fell through the ground and fell to a frozen death!

I also tested horses as a guest in multiplayer, but they work okay (a bit odd walking but not triggering this effect after getting off a horse).

I'm not entirely sure if something other than boats in multiplayer can trigger this, but it's possible something like harvesting a plant or tree for sap etc, could be linked to it? As I've had it happen to me as a guest on multiplayer, without ever touching any boats. Most recently on a hosted version of race yland game mode, there was some kind of invisible sink-hole in the track, that seemed very similar in behaviour as I walked through it. I can only guess that all these issues are tied together somehow, it sort of seems like it could be somehow related to the weather and waves system, as it started happening at the same time these systems were introduced, and there is some strange interactions between waves and large boats (not floating etc), that can be observed by using an anchor on a boat, as a guest in multiplayer. This video is unlisted, and can be deleted once sufficiently observed.

The bug can be observed at 1:42. At around 6:45, you can notice that after sinking the raft, the bug continues up until the moment the raft touches the sea-floor, at which point the earthquaking stops.

Again, you can find more information about these particular bugs, in numerous posts throughout the forums, most of us are experiencing them, they are not isolated cases, they are game-breaking.

People play explore mode in multiplayer, some of those people build a ship, boat or raft and will thus encounter this bug - to say those people are a minority, is terribly inaccurate. As it stands, I can't play Ylands as a game, because I do multiplayer, and I do explore mode, and I do building a ship to explore with. So I've just been waiting patiently all month for a fix for this, so I can play again :S

I wanted to build a naval battle game mode with the new engines - but I can't because ships are bugged in multiplayer :(

    Hello,

Thanks, for my part, all is right the migration was done without any problem, it was very simple !

Just a topic about the multiplayer server i have tried yesterday, after playing maybe 20 minutes, the ground began to move, i think there is a problem, i hope it was possible to play on that server test and that i didn't make a mistake ?

I'm so happy to see the game on steam, and to see the following, the largest world, more Ylands etc. Because i hope, but i'm sure that ylands will be THE "must have" of 2017 and 2018.

    See you soon !

    Hi there,

this issue is currently isolated to the multiplayer version of the game, as far as I can tell.

It is most often associated with boats, however, it can spontaneously happen in other instances as well.

I've tested boats in single player, and they are just fine, I think this issue may be isolated to 'guests' rather than a host of a game session, similar to the energy issue in multiplayer not displaying for guests correctly.

I'm in the process of filming it now, will post shortly.

    Hello!

I'm hoping to get a discussion going (also with the rest of the players!) about block limitations. I've tried to find the limit of what's possible for both the game and the editor when building my Modular Stadium:

Whether using the play area or not, high or low graphics or not, the game will keep stuttering when moving/driving around, probably when loading blocks. The result is that it's not really doable to have a race in there. My PC specs are i7 5700, 8GB of ram and a GTX 960M. Definitely not the best, but not bad either. The play area is definitely very useful though! I also have no idea on the actual part count, but be advised that the roof is made of 1x2 slopes and 1x1 blocks, double layered.

Anyway, my point isn't to say "the game isn't optimised", my question is, should this game be more optimised? Are the devs already working on this? Should we even be able to build this much? Ofcourse there is gonna be a limit to what is realistically possible and maybe I have went over that limit already with this stadium. What should we be able to build? A few houses? What will happen when groups of players build cities and literally fill an island?

I'm curious to see how both the Ylands team and the rest of the players think about this :)

    Adrie

I found that I had to abandon the idea of the Racing & Resort game mode I made, primarily because every time you came back around the island to the 'resort' side of it, it would cause some lag and stuttering as it loaded all the blocks in, which was likely going to be the case, I just didn't think about it in advance of building it!

My second attempt - Race Yland, is almost flawless as far as smooth fps goes, primarily I presume down to the 'play area', and the fact that the only blocks consist of a tower that is generally too small to cause and loading issues. I think one thing that could improve this in the future, would be that of bundling of blocks together in to larger blocks, as you mentioned earlier. Effectively only having to load in one giant block, instead of thousands of individual blocks etc.

  21. Hi all,

So is there any way to subscribe to your own workshop creations? I would like to be able to run a game mode that I have released to the workshop, however, it does not show up in the client's list of game modes (via Steam), and as I cannot subscribe to my own on the website, is there any way to import them from one Steam client to another? Since the Steam migration, the file system does not look the same! So I'm unsure where the game modes are being saved.

    I've checked in - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ylands

And in documents\Ylands - but this only seems to show compositions.
