computer 0 Posted June 22, 2017 Ylands looks interesting, but it seems to be running on unity engine. My fear is that it will not support as many players, ai and the size of worlds that arma has to offer. I understand from the interviews I've seen that the MODS that are talked about, are mostly scenarios, different maps and maybe scripts. But will there be mods similar to arma, where there are new 3d models, textures and full out overhauls? Will some of these be done through the in-game editor? Will there be a possiblity for 4k texture mods etc. ? I've spent thousands of hours in the arma editor and scripting in arma, how much different will be the scripting in Ylands, will it be mostly Java ? How much will be possible for ylands through scripting? Scripting has been my favourite thing in Arma, just because all the things I can do with it. Spending hours experimenting with silly scripts or enhancing the gameplay.
Aleš Ulm 1725 Posted June 23, 2017 Hi, it's true that we won't support as many players as Arma does (as for maximum world size - that is too early to say because the game is not yet fully optimized) - but that is not really our intention. As for mods - yes, the support for external models, textures, sounds etc. will be coming in couple of months (also the "visual scripting" in the editor will be improved significantly )..
