    Multiplayer issues

yes we are in a sharedgame. How can we prevent having our character reset if we die? it seems very random as most of the time we don't get a complete reset just respawn at the nearest Yland. But the offline death that followed with a complete character reset was the straw that broke the camels back. Thanks

    Multiplayer issues

I was given a link to this post from my recent post because of problems my wife and I have been facing that has been making us want to quit the game until they are fixed. All the things I'm going to list are from a MP sharedgame explore private non PVP world only two people play on. 1. Dying while offline. This should not be possible in a non PVP server. especially if caused by "starving to death"? as this seems like the only explanation i've seen others die from while offline... This is bad enough as it is without any way of knowing why, how and what caused it and or any information given on how to prevent it. This all in a non PVP private world with only two people. (A little google searching shows this is a known issue for nearly a year...) 2. Complete character reset away from where you actually died. The dying offline is bad by itself and is a major problem but now couple these two things = Game breaker for us. If we're adventuring around and we die from a fall or an animal attack or even starving to death from lack of food, we end up spawning at the island we died at or closest to. I've died so many times away from the original spawn yland and never got spawned back at the original spawn. I've seen this as known by players since 2017 or longer? 3. Free placed items causing ship to not move. A dresser was freeplaced onto our ship to store all my stuff that was laying at the bottom of the ocean from my random offline death and this dresser caused the ship to be unmovable. we literally had to remove everything from the ship to figure out what item was keeping our boat from moving. And the only reason we figure out to try that was from a youtube video with the same problem from almost a year ago. This is a known issue and a year later still an issue? SMH These issues have been around a long time and when coupled together make out to be a giant game breaker because they aren't preventable and or even self inflicted. Dying offline in a non pvp server AND Character reset has me all together wanting to uninstall the game. if death = great punishment meaning character wipe because you failed at surviving in the game then I get that and I'll play within those rules of the game but then there needs to be a way to prevent this from happening when needing to leave the game while away from original spawn. I'm all for "realistic" survival but seeing how if I die from a bear at a yland across the map from my spawn I've always spawned locally not reset.
  3. I don't mind losing things if its a legit reason even if its my fault. But when the game glitches punish you further and further that in itself are game breaking for me. Especially since the problem I just had and explain in my original post has been a known issue they said they were going to fix earlier this year and it still hasn't even been addressed. Maybe I had the perfect storm of problems all at once but Dying while off line = character reset on a non pvp mp server is a deal breaker for me especially because the game does not explain what is needed to prevent from dying offline in any way and when you die in game your character doesn't reset either so nope can't overlook it. Thank you for sharing that thread.
  4. the ship was never moved. only decorated. I've died a lot before this and always spawned at the island I was closest not across the map back at the original spawn and without my map. The ship wound up being stuck from a free placed item my wife put a chest down to put all my stuff in it that she picked up from when I died. When the ship was unlocked it took off and kicked both of us off the deck into the water and didn't stop until it ran out of coal...... So many broken glitches all happening at the same time I'm about ready to uninstall until some of these are fixed. Especially the dying offline and spawning across the map = unacceptable especially if we can't change the spawn location or it isn't consistent ant in which some times you die and it puts you on the closest island with your map and sometimes at your first spawn with nothing and no recipes unlocked? I kept in mind and keep in mind its being polished but I found out these have been issues for nearly a year and keep being an issue? yeah thats not good at all.
  5. TL/DR I guess my main questions are why did I even die offline in the first place? And why did the game start me like I'm a brand new character on the server I started??? My boat was stuck because of a freeplaced item... Once the boat was freed with anchor up and full speed ahead it threw both my wife and I off the boat and took off until it ran out of coal... This buggy glitchy game is almost more annoying than its worth playing.... Last time I played on my server with my wife I logged off on my boat off the shore of a different island than my starting island, in fact quite a distance away from my starting island. My wife continued playing without me for a couple days on that island our boat was parked at. two days later while offline I some how died and all my stuff was on the ocean floor beneath my boat.... I wasn't able to log on for another couple days and when I did I was spawned at the main island with not even the map I had on me, which when I had died before always spawned with me... So now my wife and my boat are very far away and I have nothing on me to even get back to them and the really bad part is the boat wont move under her control... This is just.... Almost game breaking for me. My ship randomly spawning on shallow land or on my dock instead of next to it where I parked it. No. My ship randomly wanting to not be in the water. no not even that. Trying to dig my ship out of shallow water only to have the water continue going more shallow making it nearly impossible to dig out. Nope that wasn't even too horribly bad that I didn't want to play the game. Now this... THIS me dying offline in a safe place and getting spawned all the way back to my starter island with nothing and my boat some how wont let my wife control it. Yeah thats pretty bad! I wouldn't have even known it was my starter island except my wife had gone around the entire island she was at twice and didn't see me. I then started looking around, died from a mob of wild cats, only to find my original town... Yes yes I can remake everything because all my work stations are here, but that is not the point... EDIT! It started me as a new character... No recipes revealed... nothing.... And now I've made it back to my boat and with anchor up neither of us can control the boat? It wont move front or back. It tries to and acts like its still anchored without the anchor down...??? (so frustrated) The water is very deep. The boat will reverse for a very short distance then act like its going up a ramp and stop. Going forward it does the same thing, almost acting like its still anchored to something but with nothing anchoring it nor any land preventing it from going back or forward..???

    Sharegames FAQ

Did this ever get answered because I can't find any topic on this and I'm currently not able to edit or find a way to save my Sharedgame so I can edit the world in editor... As it is now the sharedgames don't even show up in the Editor.
  8. What do I do if my Explore games don't show up in editor?

Digging out my ship and water levels?

playing multiplayer with my wife. we found a way to raise the water back up but it is very time consuming. You have to be at waters edge with the shovel that levels the ground. you have to be two levels higher than the water and use that item on the waters edge and it slowly brings the water back to level, it seems one square at a time... a bucket needs to be added in which we can grab water from somewhere and fill in other spots or the water mechanic needs to be tweaked a little so that it flows into spots dug instead of air pockets being formed when dug out from deeper water.
  10. I couldn't find anything on this or maybe I was searching the wrong things. My ship got stuck in my harbor and while digging it out the water levels dropped and made it more stuck than it was to begin with... How to raise the water level back to before digging out my ship? I apologize if this has been disgusted and some how I missed the topic but I thank you in advance for helping.

    Item ID and naming?

ahh okay just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thank you for letting me know that is how the game is in its current state.

    Item ID and naming?

That actually doesn't help at all because what you described doesn't seem to be something I see in our games? You mean once you've used material to make an item you then can rotate it and see its angles... Can that be done before wasting materials on items before making something you aren't sure is the item you need? When we left click on any block in the crafting menu it does not give us a 3D image that we can rotate or look at from different angles and when searching "Wooden Block" we get countless different shapes and sizes with no other description to help determine what size and dimension the blocks are aside from some looking square and others looking elongated. Print screens provided to show what I'm seeing. Some of the videos I watched had quite a few different names for some of these blocks but now all of them are just "Wooden Blocks"? that does not seem easier to search for the block you need if you need something specific sized and yet can't tell unless you build it what size it actually is or if its a triangle shaped or square. Some of these you can build and the picture / sprite indicates its square then it turns out to be multi angled block >_< Am I missing something or is this how it is right now?

    Item ID and naming?

First let me preface this with I'm new my wife and I just got the game last Friday and absolutely love it! The main problem we're having is identifying items to build with. We're playing survival mode and trying to construct things like a boat or a house but can't properly identify any of the wood blocks. I feel like I'm missing something. The wooden blocks all have the same names, even after building all of them at least once. We thought making them would name them differently, but that didn't work. We watched videos on the game from a year ago and see lots of different names for blocks that are just now called "Wooden Block" and when mouse hovering over them they moved and showed a more accurate view of the block before building it. Now most of the wooden blocks look very similar and or we can't determine their actual shape what so ever. Is there a setting we're missing? or is it because we are playing in survival mode? or is it that the game was reverted from 2017 to where it is today? Thanks in advanced
