0.14: Playful Platform (05/09/2019)
Miguel Preguisa replied to Adam Snellgrove's topic in Changelogs
??? <= Why did everything wrote turned into this? Normal text into, well, this after just typing and not entering any flags? Also, why can't I just delete it? This text editor on this forum is haunting me in dreams for a very long time now. Also, do you know yet if the mobile version of the game will have to be rebought, or if we will be able to "claim" it once we have it on Steam? Not that it would have stopped me from playing on the mobile though. My recently bought new phone, that's great for gaming, was a good purchase afterall :D -

A clear choice! Congrats -
I can see this being useful on servers a lot! Nice work

I was waiting for this ? This update looks very promising!

Great! I was really looking forward to it and it seems like a great implementation.

Avator Questions
Miguel Preguisa replied to FluffyKing Animation Studios's topic in General Discussion
The sharp edges with black eyes looked great and iconic. Low-poly jsn't ussuaIy improved by adding more polygons. It seems to me like if Minecraft developers flushed the 16x16 textures and made everything HD resolution. It won't be more appealing to the eye. -
Not sure if photoshoped but I hope not. It's an old screen of the game from the developers. It was featured on one of the first roadmaps.

Well, it seems like we are going in this direction... Can't say I'm happy about it. Ylands alway had "the feel" whereas the picture above seems like a very generic online game. I would prefer to stay classy then go jolly. Because this is the Ylands that grew on me. Not this.

Nice addition. I've already sent some request to those I know from here (and those I managed to guess their in-game name). I have no intention to join any clan right now but it's nice to still be able to "add them". Looks really neat! I don't really play multiplayer but it seems like it will help the chat. The old messages disappeared too quickly. This may be the biggest feature of this update to me. Because this will really change how the game is played in singleplayer Explore. We are no longer tied to the beach (who would do the job of terraforming the mountain in the middle when he starts?) and we are able to find nice fields anywhere. Also, I really enjoy some of those cliffs right at the shore. I will definitely build something around those in the future! There is one thing that I'm not entirely sure about though. Flora (or at least flowers) now spawn in clusters. In very sharply visible clusters. I don't think it looks natural or nice. It feels weird to see the section where only this one flower grows then walk a few steps into another section where only that one flower grows. This will be tested out today but I already can't wait to see what others will be able to do with it! Thank you. I like it tidy. This is great! It looks like a very comfy skirt, it acts like a skirt and no weird clipping is visible. I tested it thoroughly, I don't generally trust loose clothing items in games Now add a poncho! Okay, this is the second best thing about this update!

Can you maybe elaborate a little more?

What wasn't, may be

Nice idea! I'm all up for customized books, scrolls and anything like this. Paintings maybe? We would have to get "on read scroll" in the Editor. That would make a number of magical games possible

We had one, but it was a really freaky mirror It displayed only the character, so there were just you - a ghost flying in an empty void - in the mirror -
It may. But don't forget, that not all griefers are lazy. Even though I don't consider myself a griefer (whoops, I wonder how many blacklists I was added to after this first part of my sentence) but I once spent about an hour trying to get on roofs of every single house in some (I believe P1) multiplayer map. And I even managed to get on top of some castle using the sleeping pad as a provisory step which was very difficult (Actually, sorry about that if you had to clean my offline "corpse" afterward). It wasn't an easy task. It was an absolutely pointless task. It wasn't how the map should have been played. But I had fun. That's all the griefers care about. Fun. Beware not to make the spawnpoint "challenge" too fun or you soon won't have any pumas, leopards and panthers left.

I know that you have a lot of features and a lot to polish before 1.0. But I would still see the water as a major problem. We are unable to do pretty much anything near the water. If we try, we are punished. It's pretty to look at and that's it. Ylands without water are not islands. Last update was great for ships, but again - we should rather not leave them at all, which is quite a shame.

Even though that I love fire, I have to say that the nature mage is my favorite one! I think he's most unique and original. Also, I somehow prefer playing supporting classes

I don't have any experience with server maintenance but the first thing that came to my mind is blacklist/whitelist. Not a perfect solution but it should work. Or some kind of "test" before entering the open space with others. But it would take some time come up with a nice and working design of it.

As I'm not a part of the P1 nor do I use Disscord, this news are welcomed. I actually played an online multiplayer game in Ylands only once ? And it was pretty fun! Will we be able to view other peoples friendlists? Is the "friendship" going to be approved from both sides (like Facebook) or one sided (follow on a non-secured Instagram account)?

You want to play Explore, it's the same mode you were playing some months back, just with more features. It was renamed from Survive quite a time ago. I recommend having at least a quick look at the roadmap to see how much has changed. You can always discover it yourself or read through the changelogs, that's entirely up to you. So, Explore and Create changed just by the amount of features it has. But there is a (for you I believe) new thing called the Editor. It's a powerful tool combining some aspects of Create and, well, an editor. You get all the assets to your needs plus you can use visual scripting which can be really powerful too. Every other game that's not an Explore or Create is a game made in the Editor. Ylanders Jones is for example made by the Ylands team but it's a showcase of what the Editor is capable of. Another example could be the Firelord, this time made by a player (I believe you can find it under the All Games tab in the upper line of the main menu). If you want to help with anything else, ask right away! I'm also an ylander-veteran and I can imagine it would feel very strange to come back to the game after a long time not playing it

I was working just on this (actually, the opposite - on ice spells to defeat Firelord ) yesterday but nothing came out of it. I think some more tutorials on visual scripting would be welcomed because most of the time I try anything I'm lost ? And new tiles from 0.12 that redirect you to an empty wiki page upon pressing help don't help very much...

Hm, that's true. I thought I was too close to lava. I will check my other recordings to see if that bug has occurred any other time.

Where should I see the laser? Isn't it the red line coming from its mouth (not the chains)? I run away from it starting 2:22
