Dang Sandy. Sorry to hear about the barrier loss. Hopefully this will be fixed in 1.6 This should be high on the list of priorities, also high on the list should be transporting tamed animals to different regions and adding screwdrivers, knifes, axes and chisels to the toolbox....and fixing social so you can tell where you friends are

It also cracks me up if you are freezing underwater and equip a lit torch you aren't cold anymore LOL

I'm with you on the lighting especially. For some reason it seems darker now, and scuba helmets are pretty much useless underwater. I don't even think the light works down there. It worked in the last version but now I am swimming blind at night.

Also if you click the little cogwheel at the top for options it takes you to an option to delete all progress, including all islands you discovered and all player progress. Maybe the barrier gets replaced when you do that?

I mentioned to Adam about maybe having the possibility to unsummon the barriers like the ships. That way people could still only have the one barrier but set it up in a different place if they like something better. He seemed to like that idea. Maybe they will use it for 1.6? I know they are re-working the barrier system now.

On a side note I think a few items that are only available in editor should be craftable. I get the fact this is a cross platform game and too much data doesn't work for phones.....but many of us play on computer....(hopefully xbox in the future) some of the items on my list....pitchfork, crowbar, steel weapons, bolt action rifle ,machine guns(actually all guns...except maybe atlantean.) Plastic, chocolate and cheese blocks. We got milk now. so it can be done. Just add cocoa plants and maybe petroleum for plastic to be craftable at chemistry stations. The reason a lot of compositions in workshop is made of plastic blocks is it's kind to colors. some people want plain walls they can color themselves without the various shades. As of now many of those compositions are not blueprint friendly. Other items crude swords, wood armor, busts, things that can be crafted easily in the real world. Ladles, dishes, pots, umbrellas, etc.
Thanks for making the comfy armchair craftable! Everybody loves those. And now Pillows!!! awesome!!

Now that all my gripes and grumbles are done, I will focus on the positive. You devs truly did an a amazing job at making exploration better, I know working with Unity isn't exaclty an easy task, but you have delivered on some promises made long ago. Kudos!
It is also quite refreshing playing for days on end with all my progress saved....yes there were some glitches, but for the most part it's getting a lot better.
I feel encouraged now that I know after all these years focused on editor, that you got back to the tooth and roots of the game. At it's core, it's a great survival/crafting/ sandbox that allows people to be as creative as they want with the resources they have available, I am seeing so many people posting pics now of their adventures in exploration. let's face it...the future is exciting and overflowing with all the possibilities.
I was not trying to sound negative in the above post,,,but once I finished and read it again,,,I felt maybe I was being a bit harsh and quick to judge, I assure you this is far from the truth. I love this game! Now more than ever before!

So I have been playing 1.5 for a while now and here are my suggestions for the next update.
First I would like to commend the devs for making explore feel like an exploration game again. The world feels bigger now.....but there's some issues.
Goats and sheep....everybody wants them but good luck finding them anywhere except temperate climates....In reality you can find them on almost every climate. Some people don't want to live in temperate climates but like milk and wool. This leads me to my next suggestion.
Tamed animals......let them be transported to other regions....I would like a pet wolf in my tropical home...but it's not something that can be done now. Many people would like to have a goat to milk or a sheep to gather wool....not do-able at the moment.
Resources....since when did copper become rarer to find than gold and iron and ( zirconium)? I will give you devs props for allowing all resources to be "findable" ....but for some reason copper is rarer than diamonds now.
Atlanteans, elves, crab people, wendigos, wood golems, etc.... where are they in 1.5 explore? I found 3 encounters with elves (different islands but same encounters) but none of the other stuff. No Atlanteans, no crab monsters...nada.
Editor...it's high time you allow people to make blueprints directly from editor.....now the only way is go to editor, then go to legacy, then set up a barrier, then get a blueprint camera, then get screwed because you cannot place the blueprint table in the actual game....I mean really????!!?? WTF??!? FIX THAT.
Blueprints...well I just said my gripe. Cannot place the table now. Thanks for making it a pain in the arse.
Chat.....wow...I cannot even express how broken that became since the last update....People like to talk...you devs seem to think it's better to get your messages 3 to 7 days late?....I mean dang...it's broke. Why did you screw it up? it worked fine before Bohemia decided to allow missed messages.....now you are typing and it changes who you are chatting with....so an old friend messages you back asking what the fark you are asking??? All because you were typing to another person
A few other suggestions that are probably low on the list...toolbox needs to accept screwdrivers chisels, knives and axes...although you claim you are working on it. Sharks, seagulls, catapults, and all those lost traps...need to come back. How about a lunchbox? we got tool boxes now. Also I am pretty sure people want cows and chickens (dogs and cats can come later)
That all leads me to my final suggestion....random encounters. Make it more random. Every Yland does not need 8 random encounters. My main complaint about the random encounters is they are not random at all. If I see the bamboo lean-to one more time or the campfire with aloe and pink fur boots I am going to scream! I have seen those well over 200 times since 1.5 was released a few weeks ago...I am enclosing photos of other "random" encounters I have seen over a hundred times so far. I don't call them random anymore...I call them "expected" ....what I mean is you don't have to have all these encounters on every dang island....you don't even need to have caves on every island either.....just make it actually....random...and rare. There is no challenge to the game if everything is handed to you and you can expect 8 random encounters to give you everything....now I leave with with random encounters that make me want to scream "not again"!!!!...Keep in mind I have seen all these random encounters over 200 times each.....not so random.

My little home is on a tier 1. Yesterday A mutant alpha brute bear tried to kill me there. Almost succeeded! It threw me off because I was only expecting tier one 2 shot kills. This alpha brute took almost 10 shots!

It's definitely something the devs should look at when they get back from the holidays.

Here is the post.

I saw a video posted here last week of a couple guys showing a glitch where they moved a certain way and walked through walls. It was before the hotfix but it wasn't mentioned as something they fixed. I'ts a head scratcher. There were a couple guys a few months back that were coming onto different servers and somehow getting inside peoples locked homes with barriers on. They knew how to exploit some sort of glitch by digging way underneath the barrier.... Check freecamera and see if there is a hole somewhere closeby that has been dug outside your barrier. It's possible it could be the same 2 guys, although they tend to take everything that is not nailed down, and I mean EVERYTHING. They got in my house, killed all my animals, took all my food, books, paintings, rocks, bark...yes... bark...LOL . They were a nuisance.
-
could they possibly been above your barrier and dropped the explosive from the outside? I don't think they would get the message "terrain cannot be modified" if they were outside the barrier....Honestly though if the barrier was on it shouldn't be possible. Sounds like something that needs to be included in the next hotfix or update.

SandyT My game name is the same. Spiritchaser28 Send me a friend request and I will invite so I can give you some seeds.

Yeah I spent a few days trying to find tea on far east. Luckily Mello had some seeds and I planted some at my house, but it took several days for them to bloom. If anybody else wants tea feel free to hit me up. I have plenty of seeds and leaves now.

Journey to the 12 is also not an explore map. It was a custom Archipelago so initially the character did not come with the barrier before they added it. I think it was allowed at one point as an entity to place in the inventory and Spyler and Christal saved it for future use. It could be one of those items that becomes useless in the future like Bear traps, catapults, spike traps etc. What I mean is if you make a custom archipelago today, you won't find the barrier generator in the list of entities.....which is odd that they would not include it in the editor.
I know they have plans to overhaul the barrier system in 1.6, so most likely the old barriers on Journey and Origins will break.
My main point here is I believe barriers should be allowed as an entity again on all custom maps in editor. Many creators really want that feature.

Something else I have not tried lately since the water update was actually capturing the ship blueprints on water. I always found it easier to capture on the land. But maybe that makes a difference now?
-
Hmmm I made a blueprint last night and tried to make the area as big as possible but got the error (too far away from blueprint when I was inside the area, and too close when I did get too close to the ship)....maybe I will try making the area smaller and see what happens

I know you folks at Bohemia are on vacation. Happy Holidays! Hope you ate a lot of food and had fun.
When you get back from your vacations, can you all take a look at making a hotfix for placing blueprint tables? Can't seem to place them anywhere without the message saying the table is to far from blueprint outline even when it is right next to the blueprint. Ship blueprints seem especially problematic now. I spent close to an hour trying to place the table in every possible place it could go. the table was always red no matter how close or how far I moved it away from the blueprint. I know from talking to other players that a lot of them that use blueprints are having a difficult time now.
That's my main issue with the latest update aside from the crashing issues I mentioned in another post.
Thanks all! Figgy pudding is bad for you! LOL Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

And yet again. It seems to happen most the time when I am either exiting the game or exiting a map and going to another.
-
It also becomes unresponsive and sometimes crashes when I am traveling to another map....it will start to load then game just stops responding. Here are 2 more output logs. from 2 separate sessions.
-
The crashes and glitches are getting worse. I crashed once while I was in the process of building a ship. Game just suddenly closed without warning. I didn't think to save the logs the first time because it had been saving my progress when it happened, but this time it did not. It did a weird rollback. Everything I had added to the ship blueprint was still there, however I was missing about 60 Ylandium crystals and 600 iron ingots and 200 sisal from my inventory. I checked where I had previously placed them before the crash and they were nowhere to be found. In my inventory were duplicate items of things I had already put up. So suddenly I had 2 sets of samurai armor instead of 1, etc. I wrote it off as a bad glitch and continued to build my ship then it crashed again. Same thing, duplicated inventory. (Now 3 samurai armor sets) Ship still had everything I put there. But Crystals, Iron and other missing items never returned. I saved the log from the second crash this time. Another odd thing about the second crash was a friend who was helping me left to go to his island map to make more cloth and it had rolled back to the point on his map that he suddenly had the 240 cloth he just gave me before he left.

Hmmm If they know the password they should be able to join at any time. At least that's how it worked with the old explore. Unless they do not actually own the DLC.....did anything change since then @Adam Snellgrove ?

Since they made the toolbox I am wishing for a lunchbox.

Getting ready for new images: icon creating site
in Editor Suggestions
Posted
I still believe having all the basic image files stored on the user's computer would make the game run a lot smoother. I dislike going into inventory and crafting menus and waiting for the images to load as they are downloaded each time. I know this would require a larger installation package, but it would be worth it.
