I was curious to know if you guys still have programmable machines in the works? The thought of having a machine to program to mine or cut down trees for me is such a nice one to have.

That is still planned, yes :)

  2. Hey! Welcome to the ylanders family!

The trial is an old version of the game, so the issue with falling through the terrain should be fixed in the Steam version :)

Optimizations are definitely planned, and so are hosting dedicated servers! That will be added sometime after the Steam release!

Hi, If still needed, i can provide with Swedish translation too!

Just one question. I dont have the game.. Is that a problem?

    Please reply!

Well, having the game definitely helps... a lot. Otherwise you're just translating "blindly" without context and without knowing the game exactly. So that would be a bigger challenge :)

  4. Dear ylanders,

Ylands is a game that we intend to work on for many years to come. We have tons of ideas that we want to implement, but before we get to those truly special and unique ideas, we need to have a solid foundation to build on. That, for us, means Ylands 1.0, and that is exactly where we'll be when we leave Early Access.

Ylands 1.0 is planned to be released in summer 2018. Before we get there, we need to fix a lot of bugs, properly balance several game systems, and improve game performance and the multiplayer mode. But we'll also add some new features that we feel should be part of version 1.0.

When we originally released on Steam Early Access, we anticipated that it would take about 5 months to graduate to a full release. Since then, we decided to increase the scope of the game, and we now have a clear understanding of what it will take to reach our goals for Ylands version 1.0. Therefore, we can now confidently say that Ylands will officially release in Q4 2019.

Please note: even after that, you'll still receive regular, free updates and not much will actually change from your point of view.

In case you want to know more about our Early Access, feel free to ask on our forums or read our weekly Dev Diaries and Ynterviews where we regularly talk about upcoming updates.

  6. Hello! Good to see you here, it's never too late for the Ylands party! :P I'll try to reply to all your doubts:

    1. Does the game have secrets and things like chests and loot to find?

Definitely! There are various Random Encounters you can come across during your adventures, like a pyramid with treasures or an abandoned cabin with books. Even underwater!

There are even whole games that are all about riddles and stuff to find! Like Santa's factory: https://ylands.net/asset/6

    2. Will resources respawn or do you have to travel to different islands to find new resources?

Each biome has different resources, so it may happen that you'd have to sail to other yland to find a specific resource (or even go into a cave!).

    3. Are there different weapons, clothes etc you can craft and do those have increased stats. Or does it not matter which version you craft of an item?

Yes, definitely. It's not the same using a wooden axe than one made of iron. Same goes for armors/clothes.

    4. Is there some sort of end goal to the game or smaller in between mile stones you have to pass along the way. Or is it pure your own creativity?

It depends on the game you're playing. In our Workshop you can find different games, and all of those have different goals: https://ylands.net/

When it comes to the Explore mode, the goal is to survive, craft new and better items (until you unlock more advanced stuff like energy or alchemy), build yourself a ship to travel to other places and find new resources etc.

Nonetheless, our plan is to add an ULTIMATE GOAL eventually :P (we'll share more info on that later in 2018).

    5. Is it possible to have battles at sea with your boat (cannons)?

Yes, it is! Check out this video here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9e0EDQ1zGw&t

    6. Is there an in game map? And if so, will you be able to see an icon on the map of where you died?

There is a map, yes. Right now there is no such icon, but we'd like to add it in the future (along with other map improvements).

6b. If there is a map, is it possible to put pins or stickers on it for guidance? For instance, you can place a star on the map when you found something interesting, but need better equipment, so you want to come back later. The star sticker is a reminder as to where the exact location is.

We'd like to add that in the future.

    7. Are resoures just up for grabs for everyone, so first come first serve? Or does every player have the possibility to pick up the same resources at the same time?

I'd say it's more of a "first come, first serve" situation.

    8. Are there currently players from the EU? Otherwise this game could become quite lonely xD

Sure! We have some Dedicated Servers running for those of you who don't want to play alone :)

I hope that was helpful. If you have any more questions, let us know!

  7. Right now it's up to 10 players. The size depends on the game you're playing - for example the Explore mode has 12-15 ylands per map. Also, since it's procedurally generated, the ylands are always different.

In the Create mode and in the Editor you can actually choose what kind of yland you want to play on (arctic, tropical etc.) and its size and yland count.
