Here is what I did and kinda cheeky. When you start a save, spawn in and immediatly leave. When you go to continue there will be a picture of your map instead of a picture of your character. I screen shot that and then explore my island. I get the shape of it then go back to the screen shot and find what island I am on and then from there I know exactly where every island is so I don't go on the hour sail... If the map does not show when you try to continue just erase your progress which would be nothing anyway and the map will pop up.

Her is how my biomes are setup on the save I am playing now. See how they are all remotely close to each other. On a boat that has 2 main sails and a small sail I can bounce from island to island in about 5 mintes. If the water starts getting darker then there is not an island even close. I usually will circle my island till I see seagulls that are very faint. I sail towards then and just adjust my ship to the direction they are flying. My first try I sailed for over 2 hours before knowing ths and just restarted. But at least this will give you an idea how the island are setup. Every map is different so don't take this as how yours is setup but they all fit in this same rectangle

I don't think you can make them indestructable. They just will take a ton of hits to break them.

None of my ships I currently use have a wind indicatior and they work just fine. I don't think it is needed for the ship to function. I have it on another ship and I am always in the wind anyway so I just left them out on my other ships.

does it work after you restart the game? That seems to be the almost fix all for a lot of things.

Tesla coils are pretty nonforgiving. They are a defensive tool and 99% of the time will kill you if you get close to them. Don't know if that only works in multiplayer cause I know a lot of people that have died from them.

I went though 6 or 7 saves till I found the right situation to spawn in so you are not alone.

I think it is the contrast of colors around the ore that cast it to have a pinkish hue. Mine onthe rainforest biome has a pinkish hue as well.

Saltpeter is white on the map. Just look at the map and the island you are on and if you see very small white patches on your map. That is saltpeter.

I've never seen lost.. so I guess I'm uh... lost.

Can you move the ship at all? I know you can break mostly everything it just takes so time to just keep hitting on things

That is what I had to do multiple times is jsut restart. Sometimes if it doesn't show up to craft you can just switch to your inventory and back and (sometimes) it will finally show to craft it.

Look on your map. It shows you were the deposits are. Each deposit has it's own color. Like Iron is dark gray and clay is the darkest of the tans. I think there is a couple tan color deposits.

I haven't ran into that problem yet but I have been playing just about everyday. How long till you start dying after not playing?

you don't move when you sleep on the ship. Islands usually are no farther than 15 or so minutes away. Follow the birds. If you can't see due to night or rain.. sleep till it is sunny out. It will save you the trouble of sailing for hours. I sailed for 2 hours and just gave up and started over. You just went to far. If the water is dark blue there is no island even close to you.

I was under the impression you can make it off the hull cause I have seen people's ship that were posted that had them on platforms. Maybe they used a certain type of floor that mimics the hulls floor

I would really like to see a key on the map. I have been reading through questions and like myself didn't know what deposits were what on the map. Also I would like to be able to mark on the map. Check a point where you found stuff to come back to it later. You have pencils to craft you can make it use one of those per mark on the map.

I was thinking on the key to show where deposits are. I have been looking for sulpher and saltpeter forever and on the map it does show me the deposits on the islands I just don't know which one is which. Some colors are so close te each other.
