Ships build able on dry land.
WijkagentAdrie replied to Silwercastle's question in Suggestions & Feedback
In the first post you can see a trick I use with small boats to work around the problem of moving boats! I place it on freeplaced beams over the water, and after I'm done building I simply pick up the beams Larger ships have anchor levers and don't really need this trick. -
Large Ship Width OCD (DEV/Design Team)
WijkagentAdrie replied to SpartanLand's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah sails could be 3x3 and 5x3 as well. Although I also like to have 4 wide doors since my windows are usually 4 wide as well. Also fix the way the default ladders are attached, they are not symmetrical. (The small ship ladders are actually even worse) -
Weight doesn't impact the ship speed at all! I also tested this and it will be in the video Other things that don't matter are for example the direction of the sails. You can place the sails upside down, sideways, flat etc., it all won't matter!
-
You can switch between normal placing and freeplacing with the V button There's no grid/snapping so it's quite tedious to make large structures that way!

I can confirm all of this, yes you can mount it on vehicles (I highly recommend putting it on a car as it's a mobile destruction device ) and it does fix all your problems in general, including animals.
-
They are rather unforgiving yeah How did you get there? By building a stairs or did you fly up there? I usually make a cannon to get rid of the coils But be careful not to destroy the rest.
-
To be fair there's no real need to go crazy! I noticed that with about 240-320% the speeds are already very decent and usable
-
For a quick preview: Each large mast gives 100% speed, each small mast gives 60% speed. The maximum amount on a large ship is 550%, the maximum amount on a small ship is 450% So on a large ship, 5 large masts + 1 small masts (560% total) is the max, on the small ship 4 large masts + 1 small mast (460%) is the maximum! The direction of placement doesn't matter.

Heya! I'm almost done recording my first youtube video on ship speed! The ship speed is based on the amount of sails you put on the ship In my video I will explain how much masts will give you how much speed.

My first attempt at a house - with a viking inspired touch
WijkagentAdrie replied to hallie's topic in Community News
Looks cool! Have you got any interior pictures screenshots? -
Heya! These are fairly common, or at least easy to find The things on top are pretty dangerous, and will kill you if you get near! There's usually some treasure inside There's multiple ways to get to it, and there's multiple ways to get the treasure out. If you need any more hints feel free to ask!

CANT REPRODUCE [YLD-7979] Ship not moving forward
WijkagentAdrie replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Currently ships have more "power" when sailing backwards, since you usually get stuck when sailing it forward. You can try to sail it backwards with a large turn to get it out to the open sea. Another option is to dig it out which could take you some time unfortunately. A 3rd option you could try is to make another ship hull and try to ram/push it out backwards (that is, sail backwards in the shallow waters with the new ship). I recommend using a small ship as I believe it's not only smaller but also not as deep as the large hull, but I'm not entirely sure. At least it's cheaper to use. And finally my last option would be to use more sails on your ship. 1 sail is incredibly slow. Maybe adding 2 large sails could give you enough power to get it going -
DEV ANSWER URGENT: Ylands.exe logs privacy sensitive information
WijkagentAdrie replied to Skully71's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Should/can we take our old logs we uploaded offline? As in, have you guys got a backup of them so you can fix the problems? -
This idea has got my attention as well, I never used linux but all I know is I pay quite a few € a month now just to have windows, so if Linux is cheaper/free then that would be more than welcome!

How many islands can you find in a single game?
WijkagentAdrie replied to marcosgijon's topic in General Discussion
More like that as soon as you go to the edge of the map, new islands will be generated. This for example happens in minecraft world generation, where the world is generated as you go, not the first time you create the world. This way minecraft maps can be nearly infinite big, solving the problem of running out of certain resources. -
Heya! Have you had a good look around the coast? I usually find loads of them! Sometimes they even look like sand or dirt, just try to dig them If the spawn island is indeed empty be sure to move to another island! I recommend this anyway as griefers rarely take the time to go there. The easiest way to go there is to make a wooden or a bamboo raft (some logs or pieces of bamboo + ropes) and take some food for your trip! Adrie

I believe it's already hinted/confirmed that players will spawn with a semi complete barrier, which only needs a few parts to become operational. Any additional barriers are quite expensive to craft to limit the amount everyone will have.

First of all, congrats to the entire Ylands team on finally releasing on Steam I'm happy to see good overall reviews and sales. Where possible I've tried to explain the monetization in a fair way, but I understand that a lot of game developers have been too greedy in the past. One request I can make for the upcoming updates is to really try to push the MP updates and fixes. The earlier we can start to have Ylands communities and dedicated servers, the better. Some questions for 6.2: With the release of the barriers, will there finally be an easy way of deconstructing our own placed blocks?

I've found a few rendering issues/bugs: First of, the sleeping mats stop being rendered when they are still in vision. I believe that it takes the rolled up version to "check" whether it still needs to be rendered. Here are some screenshots to show what I mean: I was slowly looking up, and when the "rolled up position" of the sleeping mats is no longer in vision, the entire sleeping mat disappears. The second issue is layering with ice blocks: The angle at which you look at ice blocks makes ice blocks that are behind other blocks look like they are in front. See the screenshots:
-
The issues with the sleeping mat are also common with sails, I think actually with any block that can have it's model "altered" by some form of action. I believe the easy way to fix this is to take the "large" variant of the model to calculate whether it should be rendered or not.

I expect that with the multiplayer updates there will be ways to enforce a more PVE oriented game, maybe with certain PVP parts In the mean time I advice you to just get some food and build a raft ASAP to leave spawn island. Most aggressive players only stay at spawn island for their 10 minutes of fun.

Heya! To get started you need some tools and some items. I advise making a basic stone toolset, so an axe, pickaxe and a knife. Later on a hammer and saw are handy as well. Some of the crafting items are key to most recipes. Examples of these things are rope (made from grass), wooden planks, wooden poles and later on nails. Some recipes need certain crafting stations (cloth is a good example, which needs a spinning wheel and a weaving loom). If there's any specific questions feel free to ask!

Don't get too greedy! (In-game store)
WijkagentAdrie replied to SouL Prisoner's topic in General Discussion
Although at first many other Ylanders were skeptical as well, the devs have come up with pretty good answers to our (quite harsh)feedback as you can read here: I believe that the actual prices are very fair for what you get. If we take €5 = 1000 Coyns, then 1 Coyn is only half a eurocent. Especially the consumables are cheap, seeing that you can soon buy 10 chairs for 20 coyns, each chair is only 1 cent. The emotes and weapon skins are more expensive, but I feel like they are more of a novelty. Besides this, it's a way for content creators and server hosts to earn some Coyns as well. I'm currently renting a server to host a 24/7 dedicated server as soon as the server packages are released, which costs me quite a bit of money. If people really like playing there and they want to contribute, instead of spending IRL money they could support the server by spending Coyns, which they could have earned by selling mods or compositions to other players It's more of an ingame economic system than just a pay2win store to be fair. I believe that if you got time and creativity on your hands you could end up having all the things you want without spending any real life currency If you got any more concerns please be sure to join the discussion in the FAQ topic! Just type /cmdlist ingame

There's no admins on the official servers. On your own server you as an admin can use /kick "name" or /ban "name" to get rid of those players.
