Editor Tutorial Series (videos and requests)
SyxtySyx replied to Stephenw1992's topic in General Discussion
Not sure overlapping/ clipping has as much to do with it as just the number of objects, and rendering the visible textures that are RAM taxing. I'm not a computer wiz either, but I do know that say a small square building block in this game does not have 6 textured sides, it has 12, because the inside faces of the cube are also textured. If your computer is trying to sift this texture information at the the time it is visually rendered, and there are thousands of objects with too much information to process all at once... just my figurings. -

Dood! I'm not smart enough to follow this toot even trying to step-by-step from the video. it would take me longer than free placing all those blocks lol. You are a logics Guru! -
Lots of windows make it easier to see while sailing.

No, and stop kicking the back of the seat! Don't make me turn this car around young lady!

Tom's got a thing for Jane and wants Peter out of the picture.

I decided to paint this one up a bit and make the masts taller since the ship was so tall.

A day with nothing to do, Ylands and a box of matches

You utterly blow me away with each creation. Simply masterful! -
Basically, don't litter. If you die... go find your stuff. Destroy stuff over dropping stuff. And for now... Build minimally.

No, you can only engage propulsion on one vessel. That has been thoroughly tested I believe.

Forty Big Bettys and eight Bumble Bees... and only one Pooper. I may have a mutiny on my hands.

I hooked two ships together to make like a cruise boat, there is an obvious quarter block gap that opens an closes while underway. I think I can hide this for the most part. My biggest issue is that even with six engines, this thing crawls about reverse speed trying to drag the other ship. Have you experimented with this?

This is my Houseboat explorer. Supposed to resemble an old tug boat converted into a pleasure craft. Still some detail to finish. Tip 1 : Building in Edit Mode... If you desire power on your ship when the engines are off, you can hide a wind turbine in the hull with just the power node exposed. Some of the lights on this ship are powered this way. The switch on the aft controls them. Tip 2 : I use a lot of (Pier Supports) in my builds for detail and for a smaller dimension building block. Steel Rods, Large Steel Rods and Poles work well for detail as well, but Pier Supports are not pickable after placed. I also use Small Wooden Shelves a lot for window sills. Enjoy. Edit: it has lots of storage under the deck boards... Storage design and some hull aspects borrowed from YYZDANIEL's boats. Check out his work.

I try to respect peoples property on MP. I often use someone's stuff if it is available to me, but then I return it or replace it at first priority. I will always ask if you are online first. If you are to survive in a short lived multiplayer server, you must make friends... at least a few lol.

Finally added to the workshop. I went and made a bunch of stuff unpickable and indestructible. *Note* From my experience, compositions with energy circuits have to be reconnected after migration from file. You may have to fudge with the energy bits to make them work after downloading.

I'm not happy with my hull design or the mid deck cabin. I wanted to raise the center masts a bit and had to fill the void... I ended up covering the stair hatch and adding a cabin stairwell entrance. Tons of below deck storage the entire floor of the lower gun deck is built with wooden boxes. I hid an extra large mast in the hull horizontally for optimal speed without crowding the deck. 20 guns in total 8 bettys above deck and 12 bumbles below. I haven't done any interior decor except for what is shown in the below decks.

Opinion: This game is not ready to leave early access

Hey, the Devs said they are shooting for August or so to move from EA. Give them a chance to work it out. They seem to be tackling many bugs with every update and hotfix. Anyone who has ever had to comb through thousands upon thousands of lines of code will tell you that it is time consuming and sometimes frustrating. I have faith that they will make headroom. -
This stylish little sports car boasts dual inverted coal power plants with custom exhaust, manual transmission, bucket seats, sports steering wheel and advanced windshield wiper technology. Built on a small chassis, this compact sports car is extremely nimble on the track. But be warned, this is 'NOT FOR OFF ROAD!' With it's low profile, it is liable to get high centered on a sea shell. doing doughnuts on the dock

Added some mirrors, windshield frame and more trim. Also changed the top of the rear quarter-panels a bit and added some reinforcement under the rear chassis. You can really see the exhaust system in the last picture. This Delux Edition Is up on the Workshop.
