Friend connecting on same pc with same client has randomly now been changed to be recognized as a different person.

His character didn't die or anything but he was forced to create a new character and was spawned on some distant island we had not discovered yet and when I list account privelages(/lap) it lists me and two other people both by the same name but with different ids. Is there anything we can do to make it so he has his old character file, id or to get him back home or at the very least make sure this doesn't happen again?
