How many islands are in an exploration world?

I've made an exploration world with a few friends. We've found 6 islands (other than the one in the center), and we've gone in every direction, but there has been no other islands. How many islands are there in each world?

6-7 Ylands. We're planning on expanding this in 2nd half of 2020.
