Question: Why can't I invite my friend to my island?

I have a friend in my social network, but when I try to invite them to my map, it says it is an incompatible version. My version is the Steam version and my friend's is the Windows version. Why wouldn't they be compatible? Are they different? Thanks,

Hello there Sandy,

To share your game with a friend on a different platform you need a Rented Server.  Steam is otherwise using Steam Cloud which is not compatible with the Windows version. Hope this helps.
