Why not include computer games in there that had nothing to do with video? My first 2 computer games were Adventure which was the all text precursor to Zork and a very primitive star trek type game which only used keyboard characters as the graphics. I also played one of the first online multiplayer games on the GEnie network which was an AD&D game hosted by live dungeon masters using their own scenarios. I wanna say this was all around 1984 1985 or so. If you want to count the game console for Pong that was around 1978 or so and i had one of those. I also had a few small items published in Commodore and Ahoy computer magazines and another published in Lou Sanders Tips and tricks for commodore computers. I still have the 10 dollar checks in a scrapbook somewhere around here. LOL

Do Ylandium engines recharge from the Recharging station?
Onedown replied to Hattrix's topic in General Discussion
Sorry I just read a clarification from Ane, they aren't changing the crafting time back to one second with the potion, the bug she was referring to was using 30 grain to make it. But I hope they reconsider and change it back to the really magical 1 second. It's discussed in another thread. I apologize for inadvertently misleading you.- 19 replies

RESOLVED [YLD-8856] Craftsman Potion
Onedown replied to TheSparkPlug's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I guess i'll have to stick with the 6 kilns and 6 smelters method then. A Shame. -
Both of the examples you showed as preferable to you were pretty hideous to me. Everyone has different ideas as to what is aesthetically pleasing and I hope everyone is able to find games that please them in this way. There is no reason to belittle people for what they find pleasing there is too much of that in the world today. And I sure hope the moderators can recognize and chastise posts that belittle people.

The one thing that I noticed about colors and textures is for instance the wooden beam (just one example) appears to have 2 colors and if there is a way to actually paint both of those colors I could not figure it out. I'm very familiar with the scam that was landmark, they never could figure out how to render any of the builds past a pretty close distance if you moved just a claim space away everything turned into one huge giant melted crayon looking mess that was only appealing to the biggest and most ardent fans of the game, all 16 of them. That's not fun and i believe that's why they cancelled everquest next saying they couldn't make it fun. Imagine a AAA game developer who couldn't make a game fun. I think so far the Ylands team is doing a pretty decent job balancing game with graphics. We won't know how well they did until 1.0 I suspect.

Do Ylandium engines recharge from the Recharging station?
Onedown replied to Hattrix's topic in General Discussion
The charcoal is made in the kiln where you make glass, it's just 1 piece of any of the following, bark, sticks or wood pieces. when you make it i'm not sure how they prioritize what the order is so if there is any particular one you don't want it to use up you should store it in a chest. Using the crafting potion ( not sure what the ingredients are off the top of my head ) allowed us to reduce the time from one minute to one second, essentially as fast as you can click. However the crafting potion is bugged at the moment and Ane has said it will be fixed. The crafting potion works on all of the workstations to the best of my knowledge and memory and its the same potion for all of them.- 19 replies

Do Ylandium engines recharge from the Recharging station?
Onedown replied to Hattrix's topic in General Discussion
once they fix the crafting potion you'll be able to make around 3 to 4 hundred charcoal a minute. I've never exhausted a full bucket of charcoal, I save the coal in a separate bucket for making steel parts because you can't use charcoal.- 19 replies

Do Ylandium engines recharge from the Recharging station?
Onedown replied to Hattrix's topic in General Discussion
No, i'm sorry I wasn't very clear, the charging station charges them. I have a charging station connected to a small generator very close by. I was just trying to show how fast the whole cycle is and neglected an important part. To be more clear here are all the steps I use. Construct, and place your engines, charger and generator. connect the generator to the charger. place the largest power pacs in your inventory. trigger the charger which charges the packs. equip the packs. charge your engines. recharge your packs for next time and put them away in a chest nearby so they don't take up a inv slot. I hope this is more help and more clear. My large ship has 4 sails as well as 4 ylandium engines and switching between them is very easy, just follow the tooltips that appear when you grab the helm. When i'm able to play without the problems i've had with the game in general i'll try 2 or 3 ylandium engines instead of 4. The steam engines won't be a bad option either once they fix the crafting potion since you can make charcoal really fast with them- 19 replies

RESOLVED Oar from Raft stuck in my hands after getting off it (multiplayer)

I've had problems with the compass toggle becoming confused as well as the toggles for the ship anchor and even sails once being confused as to what state they were in. -
Do Ylandium engines recharge from the Recharging station?
Onedown replied to Hattrix's topic in General Discussion
Last time I played after 0.7 the only way to charge the ylandium engines was the larger power pack, not as easy as being charged from the charging station but not game breaking for me. I just kept 4 packs in a chest, when i charged my engines naturally they depleted and 10 seconds later they were recharged and within another 10 they were back in the chest waiting for the next cycle. Since I didnt know they used to be able to be charged with the charging station I didnt feel put out or feel any inconvenience. To me 4 ylandium engines was a little too fast because it makes it harder to spot floating debris when going that fast and i have had a hard time spotting it anyway. In order to charge the engines themselves hold the pack in your hand and highlight the engine you want to charge and you get the option to charge it.- 19 replies

Got a problem, specifically painting.
Onedown replied to Migelthesloth's topic in General Discussion
Get a program called autohotkey. You can easily write a script to plant seeds while you sip coffee or whatnot if you know a tiny bit of basic programming. I have found this very useful having disabled hands where repetitive clicking is impossible for me. You can also easily write a script to harvest the plants after they grow. if it is allowed by the devs I will share the very basic scripts I used for this purpose but i won't post them without express permission from the dev team. These scripts in no way allow unattended gameplay as the stack limit of 100 seeds requires a restart every time the stack runs out. Autohotkey is a godsend for people like me who would be unable to enjoy a lot of games without it and best of all it's free and takes up only a tiny amount of system resources. -

Free deconstruction (pick up) of blocks in a single player survival game
Onedown replied to McYland's question in Suggestions & Feedback
In the single player exploration game I don't see any downside to having at least one protective barrier available for each Yland in your world. I think it would be really cool to be able to easily build an easily changeable base on each yland. I don't know what the implications would be to the MP part of the game because I haven't and probably wont play that part. Maybe the devs aren't willing to diverge the sp and mp in any significant manner. -
RESOLVED [YLD-8856] Craftsman Potion
Onedown replied to TheSparkPlug's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
The way the crafting potion used to be added a lot of fun to crafting and seemed really magical. I think the devs should reinstate it the way it was because as you stated all you need are multiple crafting stations and I have only used one crafting potion since they changed it and never even thought about making another one. My last game had a 6 kiln building and a 6 smelter building which both took up a lot of space within my barrier. The main object of a game in my opinion is having fun! Please make the crafting potion fun again! -
Pegi 7?? Really? People! Ylands is described as "pegi 7". Did you know that?
Onedown replied to ComR's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Personally I like a great mixture of game types and Ylands ( at least as much of it as has been playable for me ) fills a peaceful niche of exploring and creativity that I hope to play again once it becomes fully playable for me. One thing I have always loved about PC Gaming is that I can have more than one game to fill my entertainment needs. I've only bought 2 early access games in my life this one and another similar game where the game company out and out lied in advertising, demanded that paying customers were obligated to report bugs and do their preliminary legal screening work for free and then shut it down when they were done milking their player base. So far the Ylands team has been very gracious and open. Compared to the other game company they are virtual angels. It sounds like maybe you should not be buying early access games. I generally do not condone paying for things before they are finished but the Ylands experience for me has not been horrible, not as enjoyable as most complete games I buy but still not horrible. -
RESOLVED Remove the energy streams completely.
Onedown replied to Captain Monki's question in Suggestions & Feedback
I think the whole energy system could use some love. With building games we all need ways to keep things nice and neat looking. I like the idea of being able to see the energy links but the method is not that great. The system should provide easy ways to keep things neat looking. The street lamps should have the nodes up high overhead. The nodes themselves on everything should be much smaller. Every device should have a built in splitter or a power out node as well as a power in node to facilitate chaining things together. If the system is designed with neatness in mind I think the energy streams would lend a very nice ambiance. -
The detail is needed for finding raw materials. frequently when i was playing I would buzz a whole island with the prop pack and then once all was revealed I could look for the resources I needed as the different ones have different colors. I'd hate it if that went away.

Ownership and permissions `probably should be a thing. Im not sure if its planned or not but it would be good. I havent played multiplayer because it seems geared towards groups who already know each other to try and avoid griefers. And reports of griefing have been pretty clear on steam.
