How to bring back alpha players in 6 changes.

Yes exactly. It should be buffed again and then made harder to get. And my apologies for referring to it as a "endgame" item, what I mean is: A powerful item like zirconium. I called netherite armor in minecraft endgame stuff even though it doesn't end either. My bad. Half of the stuff I suggested used to be in the game. The old GUI, First person, and the old propeller pack, the physical map, alpha music, and more.

Yes I 100% agree. I used to say that they tried to mix roblox, minecraft, and ark into one game which makes poop because when you mix too many colors you get brown. That's true. Yes true. I feel that their biggest mistake was trying to mix 2 types of communities together, with the editor and the exploration in one game. I still don't even know if I would come back to play if they added my 6 suggestions. I just feel like ylands isnt what it used to be, but i cant seem to put a pin on what exactly is wrong with it. I just miss the old ylands.

How to bring back alpha players in 6 changes.

Hide the recipe behind fighting a boss, make the materials harder to get, change what materials you need, add new materials that you need, changing how you get the materials, etc. I agree though that some parts of it are tedious, but several other games have made items hard to get but still fun. Minecraft with the elytra, valheim with getting any new type of armor, ARK with getting TEK gear. They both hide the recipes and OP items behind bosses. So maybe that's a turn that ylands needs to take. I feel that if other games can make OP items hard but fun to get, then ylands can too. (Without making it tedious)

And on top of all of this, you can see that the devs are doing something wrong since: https://steamcharts.com/app/298610#All You can see here that the game has progressively lost players since alpha. With most peaks only being players coming back to see updates and then leaving again.

As I mentioned above, the propeller pack should be OP because it should be an endgame tool that you worked to get for tons of hours. It should be a tool you use when you want to build since you have already done everything else to do in the game. Hard and tedious have different meanings. Tedious - too long, slow, or dull; tiresome or monotonous. Hard - with a great deal of effort. Hard things can still be fun. Them nerfing the propeller pack isn't making the game harder. It's making it more tedious, which isn't fun. They should've made the propeller pack harder to get instead of making it worse. Yeah I like the new music too but the old music just really hits back home. ❤️

How to bring back alpha players in 6 changes.

This was one of the many reasons I stopped playing. Don't get me wrong the new music is good but I would like to see the old music and the new music both in the game. Yeah, and compared to the alpha gui, this one is waaay worse See here's my point: The propeller pack is WAAY too easy to get. Back to the thing with making the game harder. What they should do is have a very OP propeller pack at the END of the game. It should take at least 100 hours of gameplay to get it, not 3 hours. Yes when they started abandoning exploration, lots of people were telling them what they were doing and instead of telling us they were going to fix it, they released 3 more updates for the editor. And every single one of those updates, they said the next update would fix exploration. Never happened. I just feel that I am not exploring any more. I can simply go to global map and then select what biome I want to find, then go to my map and see what island is level 3 and then look at the island indicator get all the zirconium i could ever want. It is just too easy. It doesn't feel like a survival game.

    Ocean Content

    1. Fish in the ocean that you can see and kill. 2. Different types of fish in the ocean. 3. Add sharks back 4. Maybe octopuses as a animal in the ocean? 5. Kraken! A hostile mob that will attack your ship while you shoot it with cannons. But it will only attack you near level 3 islands. It also will play its own music and not just the regular combat music. This will also add a reason for cannons in single players. Thanks for reading!
  10. I was on the server with him when it was happening. It is a server timeout, not the whole game crashing. It happened randomly and it was literally about every 10 minutes. Sometimes he could go 20 minutes without getting kicked. Next time we are in contact I will tell him to send you the output logs.

    Suggestion and bug

Suggestion: Its really annoying to have to click abunch of times to smelt large quantities of items/ores. So could you add a craft more option for stations too. To make our lives easier. Bug: Also I have just made an entrance to my home but for some reason I get stuck on air when trying to enter it. I kind of have to jump a few times and strafe to get in. Its pretty annoying. Heres the entrance. Theres nothing blocking it but you get stuck on it. Thank you for reading this

Dev Diary #160 - Building in Exploration

@Adam Snellgrove Also to add on the the island generation suggested by @zarwil Are you gonna work on better cave generation? As of now they look pretty man made. It would be cool for more dramatic caves!

Dev Diary #160 - Building in Exploration

Yes! This would be awesome. Me and my friend can literally speedrun endgame items in about 30-60 minutes. The game is really too easy in my opinion. A little more challenges would be pretty cool.

    Sailing/Finding islands

@ocnoglittle Thats an interesting idea. That along with my suggestion of having to craft a map again would really increase the chances of getting lost at sea. Which would be pretty awesome!

    Sailing/Finding islands

I remember when in alpha when you would start a new game. You would get some sticks, flint, wood, or anything you find necessary. Then you get a campfire going, you got some clay so you make furnaces. You make food and cut some trees down. You pick up the logs and before you know it you have your own little place you can call home. You find a cave and you get some iron. You get cotton to make a bellow. You make yourself a forge and get some iron tools. You slowly but surely make yourself a nice huge boat! You can leave the island and explore to find some more resources! You get on your boat and you sail into the ocean blue. You don't know where anything is and you have no map. You see some birds so you follow them since it must mean there's an island. Land ho! You anchor your ship and get off. You make a new house. Then you realize you don't have a map! You lose your old base and hope to one day find it again. You settle down on this new island and eventually get a map and go out to sea again. Then you find your old puny little cabin you built a few weeks ago. You feel happy! You love the sailing! The ocean calls to you! This was in alpha. Nowadays you get beginner resources and then you get yourself a raft and not a ship since there is hardly any iron on the starter island. Then you build a raft and can see the next island you need to go to without a map. You get on your raft and go to that island you saw. The point is, sailing doesn't feel very exciting anymore. You use to have to look for birds as you sailed through the roaring sea in a storm. Now you don't even need to make a map or look for anything. You just see the next island you want to go to. It just isn't the same. I hope you can consider these suggestions: 1. Make it so you have to craft a map again. - I remember one time I got lost at sea because I didn't have a map. It was irritating but it made the game fun. It made sense too. 2. Make the view distance lower. - If I'm correct this is the reason you can see the islands next to you. Its because you guys increased the view distance. So you should lower it again so there is more exploration to the ocean. Thank you for reading this!

    This community has fallen

First of all, when I first got this game, the community was all about sharing creations and reporting bugs and suggesting features. I come back after a month and there is a civil war eating this community from the inside out. I honestly don't understand what happened. I did however look over some posts and have seen how all this fuss was worked up. It started because players are getting irritated about how the devs are doing things and then there are people defending the devs. I completely understand both arguments. Some of you are complaining about how the game is being developed and others are defending the devs. So really I am just curious as to how this community has so quickly been divided like this. My take is that the devs released the 2017 trailer and it was advertising an exploration game. Then the devs started making this an editor instead of exploration. This irritated me since it feels like the devs were trying to cover up the 2017 trailer. Like they never even had an exploration game. But then again it is the devs' game and they decide want they want to do with it. Maybe there are more editor players...Maybe not...All I can say is that the reason there are more editor players is because the exploration players have stopped playing since this game took a turn. I just wanted to voice my opinion on matters, thats all. tl;dr - Community is divided; Devs falsely advertised the course of this game (2017 trailers says it exploration, new trailer says mainly editor); devs have right to decide what they do with their game

    The faces

This is exactly what I thought, I suggested this and they said they won't be returning to the old faces, but I agree: Add a way to choose which faces you want, the old ones or newer ones!

    Suggestions on exploration

I can never seem to find iron on the spawn island. I can also hardly ever find coal. The only thing I can find is clay. Now maybe you guys did this on purpose to make the game harder but it seems to really rush progression in the game. In my opinion I like to take it slow and make a nice house and make some iron tools before I explore, but I can't do that since there are not many resources on the spawn island. I suggest adding more resources to the spawn island. Stay classy.
