Suggestion: More challenging biomes and fun themes
spiritchaser28 replied to zarwil's question in Suggestions & Feedback
This is everything I want to hear. I know some people just like building and relaxing in a safe sandbox....but I thrive on the challenges and look forward to those NPC bullets zinging past my head....explore now has many options, for the casual and for the diehard survivalists. I know its hard to balance but you guys are on the right path -
So I have been playing 1.5 for a while now and here are my suggestions for the next update. First I would like to commend the devs for making explore feel like an exploration game again. The world feels bigger now.....but there's some issues. Goats and sheep....everybody wants them but good luck finding them anywhere except temperate climates....In reality you can find them on almost every climate. Some people don't want to live in temperate climates but like milk and wool. This leads me to my next suggestion. Tamed animals......let them be transported to other regions....I would like a pet wolf in my tropical home...but it's not something that can be done now. Many people would like to have a goat to milk or a sheep to gather wool....not do-able at the moment. Resources....since when did copper become rarer to find than gold and iron and ( zirconium)? I will give you devs props for allowing all resources to be "findable" ....but for some reason copper is rarer than diamonds now. Atlanteans, elves, crab people, wendigos, wood golems, etc.... where are they in 1.5 explore? I found 3 encounters with elves (different islands but same encounters) but none of the other stuff. No Atlanteans, no crab monsters...nada. Editor...it's high time you allow people to make blueprints directly from editor.....now the only way is go to editor, then go to legacy, then set up a barrier, then get a blueprint camera, then get screwed because you cannot place the blueprint table in the actual game....I mean really????!!?? WTF??!? FIX THAT. Blueprints...well I just said my gripe. Cannot place the table now. Thanks for making it a pain in the arse. Chat.....wow...I cannot even express how broken that became since the last update....People like to talk...you devs seem to think it's better to get your messages 3 to 7 days late?....I mean dang...it's broke. Why did you screw it up? it worked fine before Bohemia decided to allow missed messages.....now you are typing and it changes who you are chatting with....so an old friend messages you back asking what the fark you are asking??? All because you were typing to another person A few other suggestions that are probably low on the list...toolbox needs to accept screwdrivers chisels, knives and axes...although you claim you are working on it. Sharks, seagulls, catapults, and all those lost traps...need to come back. How about a lunchbox? we got tool boxes now. Also I am pretty sure people want cows and chickens (dogs and cats can come later) That all leads me to my final suggestion....random encounters. Make it more random. Every Yland does not need 8 random encounters. My main complaint about the random encounters is they are not random at all. If I see the bamboo lean-to one more time or the campfire with aloe and pink fur boots I am going to scream! I have seen those well over 200 times since 1.5 was released a few weeks ago...I am enclosing photos of other "random" encounters I have seen over a hundred times so far. I don't call them random anymore...I call them "expected" ....what I mean is you don't have to have all these encounters on every dang island....you don't even need to have caves on every island either.....just make it actually....random...and rare. There is no challenge to the game if everything is handed to you and you can expect 8 random encounters to give you everything....now I leave with with random encounters that make me want to scream "not again"!!!!...Keep in mind I have seen all these random encounters over 200 times each.....not so random.

You have no need for self doubt. You have an active imagination...and honestly that is all a person needs. -
Can people chop down trees inside of protective barrier
spiritchaser28 replied to Butifnot's topic in General Discussion
They can pick your cotton, and pick anything that is pickable...but technically they cannot chop down trees or modify the land or structures if it's within your barrier...if you leave your doors unlocked they can come in your house and loot, but they cannot damage your structure or dig anywhere around it. -
Suggestion: More challenging biomes and fun themes
spiritchaser28 replied to zarwil's question in Suggestions & Feedback
I absolutely love the idea of more challenges. I talked to Adam briefly about the idea of having propeller packs needing batteries....he seemed keen on the idea. I am hoping they use this in the future. It would balance out the use of propeller packs....also it would be awesome if NPCs could use ranged attacks....it would be another great equalizer to propeller pack usage. I also wish for higher tier levels beyond level 3. And bring back sharks....yeah I know the old system had buggy flying sharks....so just add wings to them....no need to explain why. You got stone golems, tree golems, giant crab people, wendigos, bigfoot, egyptian gods, atlanteans, elves, and soon Jotunn.....flying sharks isn't that much of a stretch -

@IEuphe don't be shocked. You made an awesome game!!! Lochford Horror is full of suspense and mystery. ...and to be honest I love the suspense and dialogue for the clues....plus the overall ambiance...dark and stormy ...it just fits perfectly within the game. I want to see more! Most importantly, you had a storyline and narrative...something that isn't included in many games but it definitely adds a richness an depth to the game that is sometimes lacking in others. Mello won second place not just because he had some awesome creations, but because the game had puzzles and a story to tell. You won deservedly because you also had a story and puzzles, and some quests. You deserve the win. I am not shocked at all. -
Transporting vehicles in 1.5 explore.

Well That answers the question. We all hate losing things when we experiment, but it happens to the best of us. Fingers crossed that in future updates this will be a feature as well as transporting animals. -

Great competition! Awesome entries from everyone involved! Congratulations! Everybody here is a winner in my book, but the true winners are the players who now have several fantastic fun games to choose from! -
Finding Pivot Point for creating curved wall

I'm a big fan of the matchstick method. -
I notice some people commenting on lights being too bright or too dim in certain areas, and other people commenting that with electric heaters you have to be extremely close to them to stay warm. How about a craftable "adjustment knob" that could be used for lights to dim or brighten and for heaters could be used to increase or decrease the radius of heat? It could have 3 settings, low medium, high. Just an idea for the future. it could connect in the same fashion as street lamps, with the energy stream flowing through it to the sources.

Awesome stuff!! Like what you did with the back end of the steam ship flipping over the rear part. Also you got a lot of patience laying out all those stone chunks along your roads. Bravo! -

RESOLVED [YLD-28147] Game unresponsive after exiting exploration
spiritchaser28 replied to spiritchaser28's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Twice today. This time going from one random map to another. Wheel stops spinning....wait 15 minutes....nothing. unresponsive. Restart ylands at same island I was trying to leave. That reminds me...is there any way we can just go to a point on the world map if the game just starts and you know your character is at the edge of the map? What I mean is. I hate loading that map just to load another. It would be nice if when you load the world map you could just choose a region and go there instead of having to be at the edge each time. Especially handy if you are on a laggy map and want to go immediately or when you just fire up the exploration game. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt -

RESOLVED [YLD-28218] No cave on Yland?
spiritchaser28 replied to handofthesly's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Most the Islands I hae been on do have caves. If you are ever in doubt you can always use /freecamera in the chat to look below the surface. It's kind of cheating but sometimes if you are certain there is no cave after exploring it all, you can do that as a last effort to find it. -
Is the anchor up? If you can't drive it you can try unsummoning it by pressing Q and summoning it in a different place by pressing Q again

New 1.5 Savegame unable to open in the editor
spiritchaser28 replied to thundarcrash's topic in Editor Help
I think it would require a lot of programming for devs. They would have to disable special weapons, armor, all sorts of things for it to be fair for the multiplayer experience. The way they have it set up currently makes sense to me. Everybody starts out the same way. No special advantages allowed. a lot of people would like to place their compositions, but that would also give unfair adantages. Best be it to make blueprints of your builds and set them up accordingly. It takes a lot of time if you are thinking of making a city or something like that, but with a few friends it can be done. We have been doing it and it's a lot of work but it's rewarding. -
All I know is now every composition is available in the editor. If you click compositions, then click downloaded and click "get more" they are all listed. Searching for specific tags though still needs work.
-
I can't seem to find things in workshop now. Mainly compositions. Might I suggest tags such as ship, car, house, building, furniture ...etc? Or an option to browse all creations? If I type any of those tags I come up with an empty search. Thanks.

Happened again. Left exploration to go to main menu. Saw the wheel spinning, it froze then game became unresponsive. No crash logs because windows shut it down. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt -

My friend Jrock noticed that a few weeks ago. He uses it for small spotlights in builds. Wish they could change colors like the spotlights.
