I enjoy a lot of older games. Age Of Empires, Starcraft, Chuzzle, Bejewled, Guild Wars 2....and If I just want brainless aggression I play Saint's Row 4. I have been currently also playing a little game that's free on Steam called Planet Explorers. It's a survival crafting type game, that used to have multiplayer functionality but somehow the company screwed up and lost it. It then became free to play, but the bad news is there won't be any updates for it. It's still quite fun as a single player game, but has a few little bugs here and there. I am hoping they decide to make a part 2 and bring the multiplayer back and updates. It's obvious to me they put a lot of love and thought into the game, and it's a shame they decided to not fix the major problem that occurred when the multiplayer got somehow deleted, but the company explained that it would be easier to make a new game from scratch than try to spend the time fixing it.

At least that is what I believe it means. I have been known to take credit for my mistakes. -
Error 502: trying to load the game
spiritchaser28 replied to Valour4Eva's topic in Editor Bugs & Technical Issues
Those types of error codes usually refer to the server itself having the error in question. It's basically the same sort of codes as HTTP status codes. This link explains what the numbers generally mean. https://kinsta.com/blog/http-status-codes/ -
Thank you

In my country, there is a big purple dinosaur that teaches children the "Please and Thank you" song. I encourage your big dreams. We all enjoy this game as much as you enjoy it. You are obviously a smart kid. You know enough about using proxy servers to continually change your name and get banned on discord channels several times. Here is the only advice I can give you. Try to learn some things from people here,... and instead of ordering people to do things for you learn the words please and thank you. It will most likely help you achieve your big dreams in a more constructive way. ......Manners. Fix It.....Please and thank you

I get what you are saying. Right now the only possible way to do this (sort of) is ctrl-d the structure (let's say half an archway for example) then ctrl v and rotating the object 180 degrees and moving it to line up. so the angles are mirrored. The only problem with this is it's not really a mirror because the blocks vary in colors on some sides, and if you were trying to do that to a building with 4 sides, you end up with the back side of the building instead of the opposite desired effect. It would be a pretty awesome feature to Ctrl-D and instead of actually having only the 1 option of pasting the duplicate, have 2 options of pasting the mirror duplicate as well.

Message Window During Loading Screen
spiritchaser28 replied to ocnoglittle's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Also wanted to add this question. Is it possible to add a feature during the loading screen where if you press "esc" it can take you back to the main menu? Sometimes if the game takes too long to load the screen will freeze or the game becomes unresponsive. Adding this would help me from closing the game entirely with task manager. -
Message Window During Loading Screen
spiritchaser28 replied to ocnoglittle's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Here's an example. I keep sending these random letters (and i mean just actual letters, not words) to xafael...a friend of mine that has not played in a while, but I will be typing a message to somebody else and suddenly the last letter will be sent to him....When this happens...the rest of the message to the intended recipient is gone....deleted It's frustrating if you type for 3 minutes to give a long reply to somebody....only to find that the last letter of the entire reply was sent elsewhere, and the original reply is gone -

Well for one thing, real time chat is a thing of the past with this new model. Sometimes I will hover my mouse above social and have to wait 4 to 5 minutes before I am allowed to click it to find my friends and send a message....in game it is even worse...people don't want to type /g to talk to everybody....most people liked the tabs above to chat with clan/everybody/ and whisper.....but the worse part about the new chat is you can be typing and it will suddenly switch who you are typing to or it will just remove everything you typed and only type the last few letters and send it to somebody randomly I can send you an example of the random sent messages if you want to see. -

That would be a nice feature AFTER they fix real time chat....I don't know why they decided to break it. -
Want Ylands to load faster? Here is the solution
spiritchaser28 posted a question in Suggestions & Feedback
I have been playing the game now for over a year. I have logged close to 3000 hours playing. Using both Steam and Microsoft installations. Over the past year I have noticed most of the complaints about the game involves the time it takes to load. Unity is a slow engine, and honestly it takes a lot of time waiting on response time from servers that are far away from the location you are playing.....this is an example of what I mean. Below is a picture of images being loaded from a German nitrado server....you will notice all the images in the cube displaying a "loading" icon image. I had to wait 5 minutes for all the images to load because of my distance to the server. The simple fix to this problem is quite simple. Make the Ylands installation package larger so to include the image files to be stored locally on the people's computers that play the game. If these simple image files were included in the installation package, it would greatly reduce the amount of actual time a person spends loading the game. Also include the sound effects/weather sound files and music files in the installation packages....I know from experience that including these files in the installation would probably require people a few extra gigabytes of storage space.....however it would greatly reduce the lag created by waiting on servers to download and extract these basic files, therefore making the game a "fast loading game". On that note....I also understand the need to protect the files from being tampered with and worrying about images and files that are not kid friendly...it may take a little bit more programming to protect the files from being tampered with...but in the long run the ultimate solution for people playing the game, and to increase their enjoyment of the game is to allow the local storage of these files...the game will load faster for every player, there will be no waiting for downloads of image files and sound files....if Bohemia is determined to stick with Unity as it's Ylands Engine....then a larger installation package is necessary for the people playing the game to enjoy it without staring at loading screens for several minutes/hours a day. The bottom line is...if you want people to play the game....then the larger installation would allow people to "Play" the game. -
Want Ylands to load faster? Here is the solution
spiritchaser28 replied to spiritchaser28's question in Suggestions & Feedback
That all being said...I want you folks at Bohemia to know you invented a fine game, one of the finer games I have played in many years...I am not here to criticize the amount of work, love and sweat you have put into it. I am just an old gamer that grew up in the era that invented the internet. I spent a good portion of my youth writing DOS codes on those big ol' cassette drive commodore 64s and Texas Instruments/HP computers to help you young'uns make the whole dang internet thing faster. Smartphones came from us old folks...so gather round the campfire and listen to us ramble on. -

I guess I dug too far into the log archive. Will snap a screen shot if it happens again....sometimes it is so fast it is hard to think about a screenshot but will be vigilant. -

RESOLVED Multiple server maintenance shutdowns destroying this game
spiritchaser28 replied to kimbuck's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
This is all exactly what has been happening to me. All the time outs, and long load times. Also getting weird Unity error messages in editor that suddenly close the game. Have been forced to use task manager a few times to close the game also....only when the unity error or task manager closes the game, I have no output logs. -
Belrathius I have adjusted the white a few times using the glow to match....but at night it still glows a bit. I guess because I am tetrachromat I am also overly particular about color.

I have a few suggestions. I made this first suggestion to Adam on discord, but I think many will agree. It is about colors. I am sure many of you have noticed that the colors can vary on certain entities. For instance if you paint a stone block white versus a baroque block using the same variables in colors, they turn out to be completely different shades. Red, Green and blue set at 250 in each color ends up with bright white on baroque blocks, and a light grey on stone. I realize this is to make things seem more organic, but from an artistic point of view it becomes difficult trying to match colors. So I suggest they allow 2 settings in paintgun and in editor for color shading. One as organic color and another as absolute color (so the colors match regardless of the entity used). Extending this train of thought I think it would be grand to randomize the colors in slight shades for selected items in editor in much the same fashion as they randomize using the basic shapes tool. The second suggestion is about items I would like to see return. The painting kit and dye vials, the paddle, the catapult. They do not need to be functioning items as some of them once were, but as decoration they add to the ambience of certain builds. I am sure some of you can think of other items you would like to see return....let's not mention sharks....everybody wants those back. The 3rd suggestion would be expanding the crafting menu to include items that should be available to craft. Things you can find in the game like pitchforks, teapots, dishes, books( Adam mentioned they were working on that one) , paintings, a few chairs and sofas that are only available in editor....ok I get that we can't craft elven armor and swords, but bronze and steel armor and weapons and other things that were crafted by humans in history should be added to the crafting menu. Who wants craftable plastic blocks? Final suggestion would be a little more variety in a few common sense items that should be added. Things like Flare guns, functioning telescopes, etc. (thumbs up on the personal compass being added finally). That's my short list. I don't know how much some of these things would complicate or cause errors with Unity (see my other post about suggesting switching engines to Unreal). Anyhow if anybody can think of items they would like to see return or have ideas for certain things that should be allowed in crafting, feel free to add to the list.

I was not playing the game when they had bones, but it makes sense to bring them back. You already got bones sticking out of the meat from the animals and certain monsters you kill. You have animal skinned hides, crab carapace shells, so I don't see much of a difference. I do understand not wanting blood and too much gore because kids play this, but plenty of kid oriented games have bones and skeletons. Look at dry bones from Mario Brothers, or the skeletons in Legend of Zelda, Cubone from Pokemon....there are plenty of examples. Expanding on things that should be brought back....the bear trap and spike trap. If it is too many errors with the programming, at least as a decorative item. Looks cool in the hunter's lodge buildings, etc. Also all animal trophies not just a few added to the crafting menu.
