A lot could be helped by "tidy" players... I for example remove tree stumps after chopping a tree down and replace it with one of the seeds dropped. Also when mining i collect all my dirt and any small unused stones... and do not leave them "floating" around the quarry site. If i see a dropped older tool eg wooden spade axe pick ...in the middle of nowhere, i will collect it and dismantle it .. the wooden pieces help fire kilns stoves and steam engines Also if i "clean out" a small ore body i often fill the hole with gravel or dirt. I guess it depends a lot on the attitude of the player... its obvious that some are there to chop dig and shoot....

Also the australian internet is not the best ..i am in a country area linked to the nearest high capacity line via fence wire! we have little choice ... its between Bad, very bad, awful and not so awful And don't mention the NBN ..i probably will not see it at my place in my lifetime ...which could be a good thing from what i hear about its current users ! My current progress on the Aus server stalled after i died on a moored ship and cannot get back in. Connection fell out and i fell through the ship, it seems ... Oh well lets see if the 0.7 release helps .. will play around on another oseas one until then.

Well. the same just happened to me except i fell through the ship and froze to death! The dreaded "host unreachable" message had displayed and this poor parasite rejoined only to get the message that death had occurred! Got the fal;ling through earth image then snap etc.. situation is i cannot rejoin that game ..all attempts result in a black screen with the obituary message... Guess all i can do is wait until 0.7 arrives and restart there and then, or meanwhile find another mp game thats not infested with griefers..

Discovered that someone availed themselves of my help station during the last 12 hours well that's what it is there for! I replenished the stove and added some worn but useful tools, and also a sign. Then whilst wandering around i discovered a similar new help place established on a hill ... it had a similar sign and bamboo chests containing tools and some ores etc ..and cotton.. Hope this keeps up! co-operation is more welcome than griefing! Screenshots attached top show that it is actually happening!

Oh snap! Looks like time to move on? I traveled to another Yland, landed and after a brief scout around t returned to my ship to unload some stuff i found. The got dumped out. When i returned i get the "oh snap ..etc message, died due to unusual circumstances. No matter what i try i cannot get back to that game... even to respawn. the best i see is a black screen with my current inventory items in the hotbar.. Such is life!

@ handsofthesly ... I went on a cruise and brought back some flax ... i planted a lot around my camp and planted a few near your help base. For the un-initiated, flax is an alternative to cotton I also discovered a new arrival . offline and standing near a flint deposit holding a stone pick. Being the good natured person i am ( snort! ) i placed nearby some iron tools, ie shovel spade axe and knife. There is a ship moored nearby, and on the shore was a small sail boat...but when i returned on a fishing trip i saw it had turned turtle ...ie upside down. screenshot included so the owner can commiserate.. Spotted a few people hiding n holes in the ground.. but i did not enter or trespass... Hopefully they will awaken some time before the 0.7 event And for anyone who would try griefing my base... here is an archery target opposite my doorway ...i use it to keep my crossbow skills honed and to adjust its range.

would be an idea to establish a temporary base on the closest inhabitable yland to the polar area first .. with some stuff for survival, including a small boat , and hope you respawn there...and thus be able to retrieve your stuff from the polar one you expired on..

@ Handsofthesly ... did you visit mine? ... its further along surrounded by palm trees and and bamboo ... a small shelter with a light outside, a stove inside and a couple of wicker baskets with a flint and torch etc. Ideal to weather out a storm and have a snack. Its also a good fishing spot ..i pause there to catch about 6 and top up the stove with fuel as well. By the way, roasted fish is a longer lasting meal! And yes, i will also be doing the same when the 0.7 update arrives

I decided to try mp in peperation for the 0.7 update. I wont reveal which server to protect the innocent . Spawned, and no one to be seen ... I explored one direction and found a mansion protected by a PB .. so retraced steps gathering grass and sticks ... ran into another player who was obviously startled by a female in whitey tight undies and he bolted away.... I never saw him again Eventually found a place to set up as a trial base...and went exploring... saw some ships moored, obviously with sleeping ( offline) people aboard. I did no approach to disturb them ...i was not there to grief! While looking around i heard strange noises coming from the ground.. a search discovered a cleverly disguised opening to an underground digging with a someone offline sitting there ..... hiding. The noise i could hear was coming from his chemistry workstation I discovered later others hiding underground or places i will not reveal ..apparently they had not repaired their PB 's ..and i found out why ... there was no clay to be seen to make a smelter for iron ingots, although there were iron deposits that had some mining done scattered around. I found some location where clay had been but only got about 3 pieces. I then started to search for some flint ...at least to make a fire starter..and bolts for a defensive wooden crossbow and discovered a deposit someone started but abandoned ..obviously looking for clay. After digging up a decent supply of flint i was about to move on...when i struck underneath it ...clay! I managed to find enough for the smelter and blacksmith station and kiln! Sooo Peeps... there's stuff there if you are prepared to work hard to find it. i also found coal and iron side by side. Hopefully those hiding underground will find the remains of my working and mine soiree so they can get clay to smelt ingots to fix their PB and come to the surface I did NOT take all the clay! If its gone now, someone else would have most likely plundered it

Wow! that was easy to do locked both entrance doors so at least the base contents are safer. I can sleep tonight and shop tomorrow feeling easier Need to go exploring for sulphur now to make the locksmith table etc ...already found a yland with saltpeter...and wolves guarding several tombstones. Looks like they were attacked from the rear whilst busy digging the saltpeter

Ok so you press enter open a chat line and then type. Does anyone see this ? The reason why i ask is i have met 3 castaways in bedraggled grass clothing and bark shoes standing in the rain who never responded. Anyway , if you happen to run into my base, ( you cannot miss it...look for the 2 seagull statues) you will find nearby a bamboo shelter containing a stove , some coked food a fishing line and surplus items of use for a starter in the wicker baskets. ( ie shovel flint knife fishing rod... etc) Avail yourself of them ... consider them to be a " loan" and when you are established and have spare stuff, bring it back to replenish the help hut. Please do not grief ... co-operation achieves a lot

Perhaps for mp players as well as the PB, there could be a Password protective door? That way you can start a base and lock the front door early on in the game prior to getting a locksmith table crafted As there will be a new game/server etc after the 0.7 arrival .. griefing attacks , and robbers plundering your base are really a moot point. Its only temporary ... and what they gain from stealing will not help in the new update Mottro .. " smile sweetly, and a lot, but carry behind your back a BIG club!

Something strange ...one of the ' off-liners" was found deceased few minutes ago .. and another couple of tombstones and deposited loot indicate that a battle of some sort took place between several active avatars, and this other one was " collateral" damage. Also i blundered into a PB wall in a hillside ..i am sure theres a base hidden in the mountain. I bet its entrance is from a branch in a cave Can others pass through the PB wall into your base? --- and can they remove stuff from containers inside the barrier?

I have already encountered the mummy ... twice ... it gives you a shock when it suddenly jumps out of the ground .. As to the update ...? Patience, little grasshoppers! we just have to sit tight with our legs crossed... it will arrive on the 3rd hour of the anniversary of the ascending half moon of the planet xynox.. which is around the next partial eclipse of the cheesburger

I took the S S Chugalong for a spin around the Yland... It has 3 steam engines plus back up sails.. it can really move fast... and leans when turning...like a speedboat. I passed by several moored ships and some really neat looking homes ... but alas No one was home. Nearly time to look for other life on other lands..

With palm trees you get 3 seeds when you chop them down ... however if you gather the seeds first... you get 3, then another 3 after the trees chopped

Someone had chopped down a mess of palm trees and left the stumps and seeds... so i removed the stumps to clear the land collected the seeds and went on a plant-fest....over 80 seeds ! Was originally a sandy stretch but behind those trees are planted rain forest trees and rubber trees and bamboo.. A good idea is as soon as you start, harvest wood and plant groves of trees ... by the time you need wood to build a ship, you don't have to go far to get it!

As you can see, my isp connection is typical for my country/area! ...wet knotted string and corroded copper wire Tomorrow my time i shall be steaming around the Yland in my just finished S S Chugalong ..... Give me a wave... If it goes missing... i will use these screenshots to identify any cases of GTS ( Grand theft Ship! ) I do have a crossbow, and reluctantly will use it to defend myself and my property... but otherwise peaceful - lets keep it that way!

In Ylands....no one can see you scream.... Here is a screenshot of the small help hut near my base, It has some basic starter items ... the theory is that new starters can borrow them to get established, and later on replenish the hut ... or create their own. Hopefully we will not get any imbecile griefers wrecking the idea..

@ Ane ...it seems to be linked to the same issue where seagulls can lodge in parts of ships and make them un-steerable ...or in one case i experienced my ship doing ballet and unable to move because a rabbit had somehow managed to board my ship .. Normality returned when the miscreant animal was located and converted to meat Basically any animal ( non human ) apparently causes this to happen ..
