Ahoy Ylanders, The heat wave is peaking, and the Crimson Shores are in serious trouble. You know how it is when an actual crisis strikes. Every single senior adventurer in Classy Adventurers Guild is pretending to work as hard as possible, writing complaints about exceeding heat regulations in the workplace just to avoid dealing with the actual emergency. But not me! Horatio Reginald Elmwood - Adventurer Extraordinaire is the full package! Sadly, not even I can handle this situation alone. That's when a promising adventurer like yourself is needed! Luckily, the C.A.G. is bringing several very classy improvements to help deal with the new challenges. Let's see what we've got! What's New in Update 2.1 Inventory sorting Every neat freak's dream is coming true. Test the sorting by hitting a single button, adventurer! Clay in Tropical caves is up for grabs The constant righteous complaints that I, Horatio, was making for several months finally persuaded Ylands' nature to rethink its rules. Splendid! Whole new set of bronze tools Because there are never enough tools. Every Ylander knows that. New animals - Alpacas, Jackals and Coyotes What's more to add? Animals and tools have this one thing in common. Pause the Ylands The pause was paused for a while but now it is finally on! Hit ESC to pause the singleplayer game. Retain some items after death Sometimes it can be very frustrating to sail close to the wind. So, some of the most crucial items earned a well-deserved don't-fall-out-of-an-inventory protection. Recipe definitions improvements Unlocking new recipes should be way less overwhelming and will make so much more sense now. Finally! Camera improvements (interpolation) Let's skip the technicalities and put it like this: Great performance improvement on high-end setups. And a lot of other classy stuff including many fixes, quality-of-life improvements and Editor enhancements. You can read all the details in our changelog HERE. Crimson Shores Need Your Help! You thought that the first task C.A.G. gave you was exciting? Well, trust me, adventurer, you have seen nothing yet. The sands of Crimson Shores await a true hero and they will get... YOU! This task won't be easy but don't worry, what's the worst that could happen if you fail? Crimson Shores will get fully consumed by war and hatred and you will become a laughing stock at C.A.G. So, stay calm and classy, adventurer, and meet me on Elmwood's Outpost's ancient library where we parted last time. Once you succeed, the Arid region is a better place to live and C.A.G. adventurers are drinking their favorite tea again (English Breakfast with a splash of whole milk, seriously you should try that) then it will be the time to flood the room #screenshots-ylands on our Discord with beautiful Crimson Shores pictures. Until that time, adventurer, Stay Classy! - Horatio Reginald Elmwood, the Adventurer Extraordinaire

Ahoy Ylanders! We are getting seriously hyped for the 2.1 Update. You have no idea how hard it is not to announce the biggest features before the update is out! What can you do... the answer is obvious; we can let you know about all the other things! Last time we featured 2 features that you wanted the most and we also announced the clay changes and new tier of tools in the diary here. Today will be all about the quality-of-life, and by that we mean your Ylands life. Let's get to it! Automatic Anchor Lifting Have you ever tried to set sail and instead saw a pop up saying: "anchor is down."? Well, enjoy these signature moments while they last, since their time is coming to an end very soon. Ship Deconstruction Getting your resources back? Duh! The sentimental loss of changing a ship for a new model is already tough, so now you can atleast salvage what's left from the old one. The only limitation is that there can't by anything placed on the ship. There were a few interesting things we had to deal with while creating this feature. For example, it was quite easy to generate decent amounts of resources just by repeatedly building and deconstruction the ship again. 😅 Camera Interpolation Ok, don't get scared by the name of the feature. We had a bit of an issue with changing the camera position in every frame. Insert a sentence explaining programming magic that sorted it all up, or if you can't make yourself to understand it act as this is some kind of very intentional meta joke. - Done ✅. Voila, and that's how Ylands programmers dealt with the issue. Clever, right? The result? On high-end devices you should notice great improvement in the visual performance. This is all dear adventurers! Ok, it is definitely not all, but everything else was forbidden to share until the actual release of the update. 😁 What do you think about these quality-of-life improvements? Let us know in the comments and have a great summer weekend! Stay Hydrated and Classy!

Ahoy Ylanders, The update release is closing into the finish line, and you can test what it will be about in the Experimental version! Available only to Steam users, the Experimental branch offers you guys a chance to: test upcoming features & changes test your games & scripts report any bugs & provide early feedback (#experimental_build room on our Discord server is a great way to do that) How to try the Experimental Build BACK UP YOUR GAME DATA (see below) go to your Steam library and right-click Ylands select Properties, click the "Betas" tab and enter "YlandsExperimentalStaging" as the password (excluding the double quotes) this will unlock the "i_will_back_up_my_saves" branch after selecting the branch and confirming it, Steam will begin downloading the new experimental branch Important Info - Backup Your Game Data Now is a good time to very strongly urge everyone trying the experimental branch to back up all your game data (saves, scenarios, etc.). You can do that by: browsing to "/userdata/" copying the whole "298610" folder. Keep in mind that the experimental environment uses a completely new user database, meaning that the game will require either playing as a guest or creating a new BI account (available through a link in the game) and then creating a new Ylands character. If you leave your saves folder intact, you will be able to load your older saves and scenarios with these caveats: Loading older saves will create a new character for you Editing scenarios will result in the scenario having more contributors - the user from the live version and the user from the experimental version For these reasons, we very heavily WARN AGAINST using any data created/modified in the experimental branch in the live version. Also keep in mind that since experimental and live environments are completely separate, you won't be able to see your friends playing the live version in the Social tab. With that out of the way...onto the good stuff! Please note: not all features that will be released in the full release are available in the Experimental build, also it is possible that some features might be changed or balanced before the full release. HIGHLIGHTS The story continues! When the 2.0 update was released you seemed pretty psyched about Elmwood's Outpost. So, it seems pretty clear now, that the story is quite interesting direction for Ylands. The Story now continues in the Arid region, we don't wanna spoil it so let's just say that politics is a complicated matter. In real life, in Ylands, on the sandy beach of Arid ylands or even under the sea. Recipes Definitions Improvements This is something we already addressed in 2.0 and now the recipes are moving to yet another level. Unlocking recipes should now make much more sense and be way less overwhelming than it used to be. Let us know what you think! New Bronze Tools, Clay and Obsidian in Tropical Speaking of overwhelming, how long have you been looking for clay the first time you played? Now you simply go to one of the tropical caves. Finally, right?! This was one of the feedbacks that we simply couldn't ignore anymore. There were more possible solutions, but the winner is copper vein and bronze tier of tools. Wanna know more details? See the dev diary HERE. Inventory sorting One of the most wanted features is finally here. We went through several suggestions that Ylanders from over the world have made, and we are presenting the sorting button. Right now, it has only one way of sorting and we are looking forward to see your feedback on this new feature. If you want to know how exactly the new button will sort your rucksack you can check recent dev diary HERE. Quality-of-Life Improvements Some items earned death-protection and not even the worst dreams can persuade you to drop them. Fog shouldn't be that thick anymore as we received a lot of feedback in this direction, you can deconstruct ships now, don't need to raise anchor before hitting the waves and some more. New animals Alpacas, coyotes and jackals are ready for taming. Sadly, coyotes and jackals are too small to be your new ride, alpacas on the other hand... Pause for singleplayer Yeah. No, it is not a joke. It is here. Any singleplayer game can be stopped simply by pressing ESC. Along with several more UX improvements, let's see if you can spot what are those! Critical Blocking Issues: DO NOT DIE in Elmwood's Outpost arena or else you will be stuck DO NOT DIE OR RECONNECT in trapped room with mummies on Crimson Shores Known visible issues which will be fixed in 2.1: 1. Broken button in the local map 2. Broken health bar when you travel from Crimson Shores 3. Difficult to find some mythical animals in adventure (especially new jackal) 4. Cutscenes in the new story yland will be tweaked more 5. Holes in the pyramid on Crimson Shores 6. Many texts are not translated and have some typos in the new story yland

Ahoy Ylanders! Let's make this diary a bit different. Every two weeks we have a meeting where we go over all your feedbacks and reports. We have made some major changes in the crafting UI in the past and we are happy that you seemed to like it. Still, we are getting a lot of comments and suggestions towards additional crafting improvements you'd like to see. Which is magnificent! We've already implemented some of those ideas with the last patch 2.0.5, but when it comes to feedback we are never satisfied. That's why we want to ask all of you to let us know what you would like to see added and what you dislike or like when it comes to crafting and/or its UI. Hints for your feedback Here are just some quick suggestions to get those feedbacking masterminds of yours started. ♥️ How do you like the crafting interface? Does the crafting menu feel intuitive in all stages of the game? Have you ever experienced frustration while crafting, do you remember why? Do you have some cool ideas? Don't hold back and feed us with it! Thank you in advance for any feedback loot that you decide to drop for us, and we can't wait to start reading! Wanna know what we already implemented from based on the community feedback? Read our recent Community Corner HERE! Thank you for being here for us and driving us forward Ylanders! Stay Classy!

Ahoy Ylanders! You might have noticed that we have a great community. You also might have noticed that we love sharing our community's screenshots. Whether it's Twitter, Instagram or even TikTok we always find a way to feature your cool builds and beautiful sceneries. Today we want to encourage you to join to share your own share of screenshots! AAAFrom How to create a screenshot While you are in the game you simply press F11 and the screenshot will save to: "This PC → Pictures → Ylands → Screenshots". Also, it is nice to know that you can hide your UI. This is done by the "Home" button by default. Lona (Sofie72) How to share your screenshot Again, easy sleazy. Join our Discord and head to the #screenshots_ylands room. Then just drop it like it's hot and enjoy the chit chat with your fellow ylanders! 💜𝕿𝖊𝖉𝖉𝖎𝖊💜 How to get featured There is only 1 rule here. Make it good looking. Screenshots love some nice aesthetic background. If you are taking a picture of your ship for example, use the sunset, nice clouds or some gorgeous generated yland. When taking images in Editor, place your creation on an yland. That is, if you want us to share the creation further. We have seen enough of the Editor staple green grass. 😅 Whether you are posting something beautiful you've encountered, something epic you've built or basically anything, if it can catch our eye in the screenshot room, we will feature it in one of our Sunday community screenshots posts. ❤️ JB That's it! Create beautiful screenshots, join our Discord server and get inevitably featured on our socials. Of course, while you wait... Stay Classy!

Ahoy Ylanders! The 2.1 update is incoming, and we still haven't show you so many of those new features! In this diary we will feature two features that you asked for the most. Right at the end of this diary you will also learn what new animals we are adding in the upcoming update. Let's get to it! Overwhelming Fog Blindness Soon to be gone! At least to a certain degree. The realism was the original idea, but when you can't see your own hand in a fog, well, that's rare irl too, maybe even epic or legendary! Also, you made it quite clear that the impenetrable fog can be quite a nuisance. This is why we are tuning down the intensity of the fog in most of the weather types. Finally, you will be able to see the sea again! Get Your Inventory Sorted No, we don't mean make your own system and then move everything to the appropriate slots. We are bringing you a button to do it all for you! We must admit that we are quite excited and curious to see what you will think about it. Let's check how exactly it works. The sorting system going from the top is following: Containers Tools Weapons Armor Clothes Food Materials, resources, plants and so on Of course, it is even more detailed, and we are looking forward to seeing your feedback about this when you get the chance to try it out. Just before we say "stay classy" to you let's check out the new fauna as we promised! We've already wrote about jackals in the diary here, and since we don't want them to be lonely there will be coyotes and alpacas coming along with them to the world of Ylands. Hopefully, you are just as excited as we are about the 2.1 update and before the time comes, you know what to do... Stay Classy!

Dev Diary #278 How to Make Blueprints and Earn Coyns for Them!
rihapat posted a topic in Dev Diaries
Ahoy Ylanders! Who is here to get some moolah?! Probably no one, but that's not important and we won't let this silly fact to drive us away, right? For anyone new, experienced, old and young who might find it useful, here is some info regarding Blueprints. You can earn Coyns for selling Blueprints. Cool, right? All it takes is to create something nice and upload it to the shop! Set your price and hey, you can tell other adventurers about it on our Discord server. Whenever someone buys it, they can build their own version of your ship, house or whatever wonder you created. Creating a Blueprint step by step Creative and Adventure modes After you have built something remarkable get your Blueprint camera ready! In the Adventure mode you have to craft it. In the Creative mode you can access it through the Creator's Cube. Do you have the camera ready? Great! Hit the left mouse button and select the area of your Blueprint. Press it again and select the height of the selection area you've just selected. Then you just confirm the capture with the same button, and you are good to go to name and save your new Blueprint. The next step is uploading your new creation to the workshop. Head to the Blueprint menu, right next to costumes and pets menus. Select your captured Blueprint and hit "UPLOAD TO WORKSHOP". Then you just set its price tag, tags and anything else you want and tadaaaa! You are ready to serve your first customer. Editor It is probably even easier to create Blueprints in the Editor. You don't need a Blueprint camera, here you simply select whatever you've just build and click "SAVE AS A Blueprint" in the "SELECTION AND PROPERTIES" section. Then you have to select what kind of Blueprint you are making. The Game Blueprints can be used and built in the Adventure mode, where the Creator Blueprints can use special entities that are not banned from the realm of the Adventure mode. On the other hand, it allows them to be even more cool and unique! After this, you will again see the "UPLOAD TO WORKSHOP" screen that was shown at the start of the diary. You set the price of the Blueprint, name it and so on. Now you know how to create Blueprints! Wheeee. Let's recap! 1. Select a wonderful object, that you built 2. Save it as a Blueprint 3. Upload it to the Blueprint shop 4. Obey the Blueprint marketplace rules. Read them HERE. Do you find these informative dev diaries helpful, adventurers? Let us know in the comments, or feel free to ask for specific diaries or anything else you would like to know! Good luck in your building endeavors and Stay Classy! -
Dev Diary #277 The Cost of Progress? Lower than Before!
rihapat replied to rihapat's topic in Dev Diaries
Thanks for the question! It is quite complicated subject, and this is only my personal statement and view as one of the marketers. You can be sure that designers will hold different point of view and could potentially offer you completely different explanation. Yes and no. We don't expect the majority of players to spend any money in the game, that's the deal and it is fine. Still, having a lot of people playing is dealbreaker as we can get more feedback and in-game data to grow the game for better on some solid foundations. The balance that handofthesly is mentioning is exactly what we need, and this change should be in the right direction as it still should mean for casual player to play for at least several tens of hours in order to reach Arctic. That being said we have barely any data to support the guess. Also, there is so much to do instead of going straight for the progress, so playstyle of specific player is also changing that a lot. Good thing is that the wide range of playstyles among Ylands players also support that someone might be interested in the DLC more than someone else, an abstract change of the amount of grind probably shouldn't be a game changer here. On the other hand, people unlocking Arid fast can help new players to stay motivated, explore some more and hopefully come back for another game session. I mean, we will see about that. 😅 Hopefully, I managed to show you some angles of thinking behind this change. Just know that it is always a bit of educated guess and reacting to the received feedback and then evaluating it retrospectively and adjusting if needed. -
Ahoy Ylanders The grind is hard. That's the truth and every gamer knows it. Is grinding rewarding? Yea, maybe. Is that really what we want, tho? I doubt that. Nikki doubted that, Anna doubted that, and after the community have been doubting it for a while, everyone else in the office started to doubt it too! Eventually it became undoubtable that we will reduce the amounts of Exploration Points and Resource Packages needed to unlock next regions. I am happy to say that these changes are live already and it is thanks to you Adventurers! If it weren't for Ylands community grinding the feedback so hard, well, let's just say thank you! Your input is the main thing that helps us grow. Now, let's look into some details! Exploration Points Easy sleazy explory pointy decreasy by almost two thirdsy! Yea, that's all there is to reveal. Easy as that. Here are the exact numbers of Exploration Points that you need to unlock each region. Arid - 40 EP (used to be 100) Far East - 100 EP (used to be 250) Temperate - 250 (used to be 750) Tundra & Taiga - 500 (used to be 1500) Arctic - 850 (used to be 2500) This change is especially important for every adventurer that likes to progress together with their Classy Adventurer's Guild friends. You can earn most of the EP together by finishing the same diary tasks and exploring random encounters! Resource Packages If you are more of a gatherer than an explorer these changes are meant for you. Here are the exact numbers of Resource Packages that you need to unlock each region. Arid 2x Stone chunk package 2x Logs package Far East 2x Leather package 2x Sandstone chunk package 2x Clay package Temperate 4x Leather package 2x Magic dust package 4x Iron package Tundra & Taiga 4x Leather package 4x Coal package 6x Sulphur package Arctic 6x Leather package 4x Copper package 4x Zirconium package Oh, I almost forgot! On Mobile you need only 50% of all Resource Packages and EP. The outcome of these changes could potentially allow the fastest players to unlock Arid already 1 or 2 hours in game, but hey, I don't want to underestimate anyone! On the other hand, the estimates towards the Arctic unlock-time are quite a mystery, so I am genuinely thrilled to see the first speedrun! I hope you will like the changes as I am a big fan. Also, please keep sending your great feedback and ideas, our Discord #suggestions_and_ideas is the best room for that: https://discord.com/invite/ylands Thank You and Stay Classy Adventurers! - Patrik

Dev Diary #276 Big Change Incoming - Clay in Tropical and a Brand New Tier of Tools!
rihapat posted a topic in Dev Diaries
Ahoy Ylanders! First things first. The winners of the Space Rabbit costume from the last dev diary giveaway are: PieofHeaven, Degar! We will contact them directly soon. Yes, one of the words "host" (not hosts, not hosting etc...) was in the title. Savage, right?! Now to the big changes! It has been a while since we announced what we are working on as the 2.0 update was such a big deal. Finally, the time has come. Update 2.1 is shaping up nicely and we can announce one of its biggest features. The Bronze tool tier is coming to the world of Ylands! Clay in the Tropical Caves You asked and we hear you. Clay just screams out from the crafting menu: "Use me!" but it is nowhere to be found. This will be left in the past very soon. Look for clay in the Tropical caves from the next update and you can start melting some "first-glass" obsidian stuff right from the start! Bronze Tier of Tools The Arid is changing. Yes, there will be more than just bronze tools, but let's leave that out for now. You can look forward to a Bronze Pick, a Bronze Hammer, a Bronze Knife and a Bronze Saw. Watch out for the Bronze Pick in particular, as that will be the number one tool to mine iron from the next update. Copper and its processing With obsidian tools moving to the Tropical Region, we obviously need a new material. All hail copper! You can mine its ore from copper veins and deposits. As always, you need to smelt the ore into ingots using the Smelting Furnace. Then a new station is stepping into the spotlight: the Copper Caster! Combine copper ingots with the rest of the components, use the Copper Caster and tadaaaa! Your new bronze tools are ready for some tooling. That's it for today adventurers! Stay tuned for more news regarding the 2.1 update and congratulations to the winners of the giveaway, and as always... Stay Classy! -
Dev Diary #275 How to Host Ylands Multiplayer to Your Friends
rihapat replied to rihapat's topic in Dev Diaries
Thanks Yo HasLEGO, great point! :3 -
Ahoy Ylanders, Whether you are exploring with pals, your little ones, the significant other, cat on your lap or just a bunch of adventurers you've met on our Discord server we think that Ylands is really great when played together. New Ylanders are coming in every day, so we've decided to sum up all the multiplayer options. Btw. Can you guess how many times the word "host" is used in the diary? If you do you can win one of the 2 Space Rabbits costumes! Joining a game There are two options how to play Ylands multiplayer. Join a game or host one. You can find your friends' games (from your in-game friend list) in the social tab of the menu and simply join them. Hosting is a bit more ticklish, but it ain't rocket science either, let's explore it further. PC Multiplayer Options There are three ways to host an Ylands multiplayer game at the moment. You can see their differences in the screen above and we will go through them in more detail below. While they are different, they do have some things in common. By default, your session is always "Not visible to the public". You can enable this option so anyone can see your game and potentially join you there. If your game is not visible to the public only your friends can find it. Make sure to add your pals to your Ylands friend list. You can always set a maximum "Player Count" and the "Passphrase" for an additional control. 1. "Host a Game" Probably the easiest way to embark on an adventure together. It is free and easy to setup. All you need to do is to press Esc while in the Adventure mode, select switch to "Host Multiplayer" and click the "Update" button. Your game is now running in multiplayer and is visible to your friends. Up to 9 other players can join you! There is one little catchy catch tho. The host needs to be online. There is no hosting a game without a host. Someone could even say that it is a quite hostile multiplayer option. 2. "Sharegame" This Steam-only multiplayer option is also really easy to set up, and the host doesn't need to be online, yay! In other words, the host is whoever starts the Sharegame therefore, it requires a password (elsewhere it's optional). The possibility to swap the host might come in handy as someone with the top of the shelve setup can offer the best performance. You can host up to 3 games with the data capacity of 80 Mb each for free. Just to paint a picture, that is a lot of space unless you are building whole cities or gargantuan bus infrastructure for giant geese who live in those ordinary-human-size cities. Anyway, if you wish to build enormous structures, and cities together, you can rent more space on the steam cloud - up to 5 games with capacity of 500 Mb each. You can turn it on the same way as ordinary hosting, or you can set it up through a hosting tab in the menu. Then you can make all your weird giant geese dreams come true. 3. "Rent a Dedicated Server" The third option is renting your own server. As you can see on the first screenshot it has all the perks there can be, but for a cost since we need to pay to the server provider for that. There are two tiers of servers which you can find in the shop: Elementary servers and High Performance servers. Elementary servers can host universal (supports cross play) or mobile scenarios. High Performance servers can host any kind of scenario whatsoever (also supports cross play) and provide faster loading. If you choose to host a server, you can do it both ways. Find the "Hosting" tab in the menu and upload a game save or switch to the "Host on a Rented Server" while in the Adventure Mode in the "Multiplayer Settings". MOBILE Multiplayer and Cross-Platform Play Currently there is only one mobile multiplayer option, and it is the "Rent a dedicated server" - the same hosting process, the same joining process. In case you want to play cross-platform on PC and Mobile there is one thing to be mindful of. The mobile and PC platform maps/scenarios work differently. Putting it simply, PC maps are more complex and can't be run on a mobile platform. Because of that, make sure to set the "Platform" box onto "Universal" while setting the "Host on a Rented Server". Also, it is advisable to host the cross-platform multiplayer from a mobile device as on a PC your map will most likely be of the complex kind and therefore making you ineligible to host a universal game. Co-op and PvP Settings Just a quick last note! While playing together be mindful of your actions. The default PvP settings are enabling friendly fire! In case you don't want that or want to adjust your Co-op settings so no one destroys your sandcastles or geese bus stations you can do that in the "Game Settings" tab inside the in game "Multiplayer Settings". How do you play Ylands? All by yourself or do you prefer some company and what of these multiplayer options are you using? Share with us in the comments and Stay Classy! Also don't forget! This diary is a host to the counting giveaway, so post a comment with the answer. The winners will be picked randomly and announced in the next Dev Diary #276. Host, host, host!

YLD-44747 Tweaked: Changed random encounter with vendor who was selling paitings (many players have old paintings which can no longer be used in blueprints, now this vendor should change them for free for new working ones) YLD-44815 Tweaked: Players can use only Latin alphabet and numbers when uploading blueprint to our workshop. YLD-44824 Tweaked: We added special chests with loot to every mystery yland (there were already present in some but now they should be in all, there is always one big chest in the end and few hidden chests on every mystery yland (some of them locked so players need to find a key) YLD-44934 Tweaked: Ranged weapons were rebalanced - basically every ranged weapon was buffed significantly. YLD-45080 Tweaked: Reduced number of animals in the Tropical region so players would no longer be swarmed by honey badgers. YLD-45091 Tweaked: Lowered detection radius and combat radius of lower tier animals (honey badgers, terrorbirds and panthers) they should not run 300m after players anymore. Tweaked: Golden package so it cannot be traded for infinite gold. Tweaked: Some maps always started at night, now their starting time should be random as designed.

Ahoy Ylanders, It takes a bit of time to progress from crafting torches and grass ropes to building computers and meeting aliens. That applies for both Ylands and the real life. There are new players coming every day, so we thought it might be nice to show what awaits further in the game and how to get there. Regions First things first, there are 6 regions in Ylands. Every one with its own difficulty, temperature and unique resources that you can find there. Seriously, do not underestimate the difficulty and make sure you are prepared before you venture into the next level. You don't wanna die for a piece of iron, right? Stone and Glass These are the first main materials. The important thing here is, that you can make tools out of them! 🔨 Why is that important? Because they let you to gather other materials and progress in the game towards the next-level regions, materials and tools. Iron This is a real revolution that awaits Ylanders in the Far East Region, but be prepared, you need at least an obsidian pick to mine it! It is probably the largest "material tier" that there is in Ylands. You can create dozens of stuffs by processing iron! Since this diary is supposed to help you orient in the world of Ylands, today's featured item that is made from iron is accomplishing the very same thing: the Compass! Also, iron has its own set of tools! 🔨 Steel It shouldn't be that surprising, but you make steel out of iron. How to do it you ask? You need fuel. Go to the Temperate Region and get yourself some coal! Of course, you do need at least an iron pick to mine it. After you spend a few minutes in the heat of the Foundry you can really paint the lily! What do we mean? The featured item that is made from steel is: the Paintgun! Also, steel has its own set of tools! 🔨 Zirconium Okay, we are getting serious here. You probably already know your way around the world of Ylands while roaming the Tundra & Taiga in order to hoard a zirconium ore. Still, we have to say it. This is no country for the underprepared. The danger is one thing, but Zirconium requires a minimum of a Steel Pick or a Steel Hand Drill to be mined. Speaking of gear! Featured item which is made with Zirconium is the best firearm in Ylands! To be fair, you also need Orichalcum ingots to craft it, but the name says it all: the Zirconium Rifle! Also, zirconium has its own set of tools! 🔨 Ylandium and Cobalt Did anyone say computers? Alien tech?! In Ylands?! Yes. You can create these from resources like Ylandium or Cobalt. Tundra & Taiga and the Arctic Regions is where you need to go to retrieve these. It is no joke out there! So be careful not to encounter too many bad dreams. Surprisingly enough, a spaceship or any other alien tech is not what we will feature here today. The item that deserves this shout out is without any doubts the Propeller Pack! Also, neither Ylandium nor Cobalt have their own set of tools. Surprise! We hope that this week's very shallow materialistic diary will help you not to drown in the overwhelming amount of content you can find in Ylands. Progress with caution and Stay Classy!

Hi, thanks for reaching out and welcome to our forum! Sharegame is Steam-only feature (it runs on steam cloud), therefore it is not possible to connect there any other way. Renting a dedicated server is required to launch multiplayer on Mobile platforms. Also, in case you want to play cross platform, make sure to upload on the server maps that are "universal", there is a platform option for that. Let us know in case you need any further help.

Ahoy Ylanders! Have you ever wondered how Ylands visuals come to life? Here is your chance to peek behind the scenes. As you probably don't know, there are jackals coming into the game one day and we will use their visual production as today's example! Also, you might want to know that jackals are monogamist, as they mate for life. Step 1 - Game Design idea Here it all starts and ends. The game designers figure out that jackals are the way to go for the next content update and provide seemingly endless list of specification like: In which regions can you find jackals? How fast and aggressive are they? Can you tame them? Something like our community Ylands wiki! Step 2 - Art brainstorm and sketches It's art's turn! How to integrate a real jackal's visual into the low poly art style of Ylands and meet all of the game designers' conditions at the same time? That's what artists brainstorm together and create first sketches. Based on those sketches we can figure out the Ylands jackal's final look! Step 3 - 3D model and wireframe The next thing we need to do is to add one more dimension. No biggie! Once the 3D model is ready, we create its wireframe that connects parts of the jackal's body so they are influenced by each other's movement. Sounds easy and smooth, right? Well, just wait 'till it starts moving! Step 4 - Animation Let's play a game. What are all the kinds of movement that Ylands animals can do? Walking, running, several attack types, jumping, getting hit, getting petted, feeding on a bait, you get the point, there is a lot of them. Now, the animators animate animations for the jackal, and it comes to life! While it would be great to give you a sneak peak of a moving jackal, the animations are quite complex and usually take the longest time in animal creation. Instead, we will offer you this cool story: A long time ago, when it was the honey badger's time to be animated, we couldn't find any suitable reference of a real honey badger moving. It was a real struggle. We didn't expect this to happen, but luckily there was a family of honey badgers in the nearby zoo. We shot our own reference videos and now the Ylands honey badgers can happily roam the Tropical Region. Yay! Step 5 - Implement *Insert some very important, but very non-artsy and technical animation-controlling gibberish here.* When the technical necessities are done the game designers will add finished jackal to the game database and set their specifications like hit points, where you can find them, and so on. Voila! New doge good boys are ready to be let out. Woof woof woof woof woof! Btw. You might wanna know that each jackal family has their own yipping sound that only members of their own family respond to. Cool, right? The whole process usually takes several weeks, and it is quite similar for almost every entity that needs to be manifested in the game. Hopefully, you've enjoyed this little peek behind the scenes of Ylands art creation and we wish you a great weekend. Stay Classy Ylanders.

Ahoy Ylanders! We are back today with a really sentimental diary entry. We've known this for a long time, but today we are in a bit of a "touchy feely" mood, so we wanted to stop and appreciate the fact that our players form if not the greatest then definitely the friendliest gaming community ever! There are no cry messages like: (read in broken English) "WHY YOU DIDIN'T RUSH B AS I SAID YOU #$.@&^!%* YOU @#$%^&!!!" ever to be encountered. Just never. That is something beautiful and quite uncommon among gaming communities. Since you are all so classy, we want to express from the bottom of our hears the biggest THANK YOU! This was one of the most epic parties ever. You can find more screenshots and also videos from the party in #cag_stories room on our server. What can I do on Ylands Discord? 1. You can get in-game stuff for free - #announcements Here and there, there are some competitions and C.A.G. call to arms that helps us spread the word of the Guild and our beloved game. Right now, we are collecting beautiful screenshots, mainly from newborn adventurers and their Ylands adventures, which can earn them a Puffer Captain pet. So go and get yours! ❤️ 2. Show off your screenshots - #screenshots_ylands Whether it is something you built or great natural views you have encountered on your journey, share it! 3. Find new friends to play with - #looking_for_group Join someone who is looking for a party or feel free to reach out to others. Really, you have nothing to be nervous about, we are all super friendly here. 4. Let other knows you are streaming - #streamers_or_videos The game should be Ylands ofc, and this is the room to do it! 5. Solve your issues with game - #troubleshooting Need to ask something? Think you discovered a bug or weird glitch? Have a game suggestion of any kind? Choose one of the # rooms in the TROUBLESHOOTING section and get in touch with us and the community. 6. Meet the legends and become one of them There are few hardcore celebrity-Ylanders who are super active and have stayed with us for a while now. Helping everyone new on board, sharing epic ships and detailed interiors that only the most experienced of our artists could create. Seriously we are often astonished with your creations, and again, thank you for that. Honorable mention: Handofthesly is working on our wiki since 8th May 2017!!! We couldn't be more grateful as they are doing great job. Yet it is a lot of work for only one person, so get in touch with them in case you want to join on the wiki-duty, their Discord nick: "handofthesly #1492". Thank you so much for everything you do for the game Handofthesly! Anyway, we could go on like this for a while so, you better check the server on your own. How do I get to the Ylands Discord? Right here! Just click the link and start meeting people and let's grow the Ylanders community together. ❤️ https://discord.gg/ylands

Ahoy Ylanders! Today we want to ask you a BIG question. What is REALLY important in Ylands? "Crafting?" Nah. Not important. "Exploration?" Maybe. Let's say, nice to have. "Fighting?" Uh, of course NOT! "Ships! This must be it. For sure, what can be more important than ships?" Yes! Ships are cool. BUT! Surprisingly enough, we believe that the answer is stories. Memories that we experienced together with our friends and close ones. Just as in real life! "One time, when we were testing the game, one of our devs got lost at the sea at night, so others have made her a fire on an yland so she could find the rest of the team. It was scary but then our heroine finally saw a small light. Until the last moment she thought it's other devs, but it turned out it was a random player from Turkey who joined our testing session." - Aleš, story from our developer's Friday feedback playtime "I loved that one time when we were streaming with Spectrumnist and encountered even more mutated bears in an ice cave while chatting about Sims 4 challenges and Spec shot me in the head. By accident ofc... That was so funny." - Anna, and her "ouch" moment also on a video: Highlight: Ylands Update Stream w/ the DEVS! | Chill Stream | (Dec 9, 2022) - Twitch "Remember that time, when we ran into a terrorbird for the first time and you were so excited to tame it and name it Alyssa, but we couldn't find any bananas anywhere, so we sailed to another yland and got lost in the storm for like 2 hours? You went bananas! XD But you did befriend that terrorbird and now you have bunch of new stories with Alyssa!" - Patrik, and his could-be-true-if-my-wife-played-Ylands-with-me story as he did look for bananas to tame terrorbird and got lost in the storm just the other day all by himself. And this is just the tip of an iceberg. See for example the adventures of FluffDaSheep Gaming, there are so many stories in this single video: That is why we presented the handbook and lore in 2.0 update, and why we want to continue to improve and expand those aspects of Ylands. What about you and your stories? Share them with us right here in the comments! We can't wait to read them all and experience some more together. See ya and stay classy!

Ahoy, Ylanders! First Dev Diary in the renewed 2.0 Ylands is finally here, and it is quite arbitrary as you will soon see. The C.A.G. editorial team has made the executive decision to let the dice decide this diary's theme, and it's random encounters! What a coincidence, right? Disclaimer: As you go through today's diary you will encounter several very fun and very arbitrary facts about random encounters in Ylands. Random Random Encounters Fact N°1 The oldest, still accessible random encounter in Ylands is this friendly campfire. It stayed with us since Ylands 1.0. Cool, right? What are Random Encounters? Hmm... how to put this simply. There are encounters in Ylands and whether it's a native civilization, a shipwreck with a bunch of ghosts and loot, or some fancy monument, they are not easy to find. You kinda just have to wander around the world to randomly encounter them. Also, they are fun! Never forget to mention when something is fun, that is classy adventurer 101 stuff. Random Random Encounters Fact N°2 With update 2.0 we added 33 RE's! (Yeah, that's random encounters for short.) Also, can you guess why 33? The answer is super obvious and will be revealed by the end of this Diary. New 2.0 update RE's There are many new RE's in update 2.0! It would take hours to write and read about those. Luckily, we can't and don't want to spoil all the randomness there, but we can definitely show you at least some of those! Embalming Temple It seems that skin care business is having a hard time in Ylands, so we decided to give it a bit of a boost. In Arid you can now find a fella who is embalming the deceased. So, in case you need some skin care, you know where to go. Random Random Encounters Fact N°3 Did you know that there is a DayZ themed RE to be found? Well, now you do! Ancient Ruins Encounters New ancient ruins were discovered in the Tropical region with the update 2.0. They seem to be some kind of blend of eastern islands and Latin American culture. Also, it is said that when the weather is right, lucky explorers can get a glimpse of elemental spirits here! Random Random Encounters Fact N°4 Yup. That is the number of all active Random Encounters in the world of Ylands. Can you guess why 299? The answer is still obvious, and same as the one to the question before. It's RANDOM! Tadaa. I hope we all agree that this diary encounter got as arbitrary as it can get but feel free to let your inner randomness loose and post a totally stray comment below and as always, stay classy!
