Could we build ships on dry land. We could then build a dry dock and not have the ship move around. Upon completing we could blow the barrier between the water and the boat and lift it out of the dock and sail it out. Would that be possible ?

I am stuck, have all the benches (think so) and parts for the generator. Can craft lights , but can not find the generator to build and power them. What am i missing ?
-
The glass sphere was something i thought i crafted but did probably in a previous map. The energy converter was also something i missed. Now everything is appearing. Thanks. Just one more thing , it says the steam engine can be used on a boat, does it need to connect to a propeller or something ?
-
It did not show on mine and i constantly check that i have everything in that section made, but am going to check now.

Ships build able on dry land.
Silwercastle replied to Silwercastle's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Or a mechanism that the boat is build on move into the water till the boat float and then retract from under the boat. That is how they offload motorboats from trailers at a dam. -
Again the screwdriver.. i made all the tools as far as i now but this one as nothing needed it. Bad if you don't know you need to make something to unlock something you do not know exist. My first trip deep into the caves was in fact to get the crystals (50) i needed for the armor.
-
Have not made a screwdriver so maybe that is why i have not seen this either. Will go and check later when i get home from work.
-
Will give it a try later. Have unlocked a lot of tech and just got my guardian armor, man that headlamp is just fantastic when exploring and fighting at night. Once i have a idea of how the ylandium tech (generators and engines) work i will start building my base.
-
Steam engine ?..... will have a look for that, but i do have the tube and the sphere already. Just build the ylandium refinery which needed the tube.

Added another large mast as advised, ship did not move. Moved to front of ship and ship moved suddenly forward, ran back to helm to take control. Ship stopped moving on taking hold of helm. Released helm and moved to front of ship to shoot sharks and ship moved again out to sea. Did not go back to helm and left ship to move away from beach. Went back to helm and this time on taking controle i had full control of all ship movement.

RESOLVED Update: Ship not moving forward.
Silwercastle replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Nope again. The ship was moving on its own as long as i did not touch the helm. I also looked under the ship and it was clear from the bottom, i have the shark bite marks on my but to prove it. -

Well i was thinking of testing a cargo load full of tnt on it. As i stated it is working now after going through a lot of hoops, but there is a bug there sum where that they might like to look at. -
RESOLVED Update: Ship not moving forward.
Silwercastle replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Nope i moved it all over the ship and the helm works for the sails up and down as well as reversing. Like i said the moment the ship got to open water on its own (me not at the helm) i could take full contole of the ship from then on. -
RESOLVED Update: Ship not moving forward.

It is on the actual deck, both of them. I added one now even furter forward. The ship here moved even here with one mast on its own, but stopped when i took control. -
RESOLVED Update: Ship not moving forward.
Silwercastle replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Here is my first post with the output, before i got the ship moving. Andre told me to add more sails and left it there. -
Ship masts must be placed directly on top of a hull, this was something I did not realise before building my first ship. Would it be possible to allow for a mast that is higher so we can build more on the ship ?

RESOLVED [YLD-7979] Ship not moving forward
Silwercastle replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
No it is not stranded. It does go forward when I am not on board and the wind blow. It used to be stuck but as I dug it free the ship moved forward on its own. -
Have crafted everything from a needle to a chem station in the important items column (tables and tings that will let you progress further), but nothing opens up the drivebelt and that make the table uncraftable.
-
Thank you,but i already deleted the old files ... one by one. My current task in the game though makes this very easy compared to it .... sailing across the sea looking for land
-
I only had paper and did not even made a pencil. When making the map it said I had writables and made the map, not sure what that was as it showed no image of the writeables.
-
Wow this removes the saves from the first to the last file.... do you know how long it takes to remove 4.5hrs plays saves. lol
-
No sulphur = no slab = not shown drive belt ... but table drive belt is used for does get shown ? I will have to restart from the beginning now anyway as my whole save has been lost.
-
So if you do not have sulphur in your inventory nothing is going to tell you there is something like that out there you need to go look for even if you have a chemstation and rubber in your hands ? I will leave it like that but I think this is broken, having rubber should then show you the slab recipe and that should show you you need sulphur.
-
I have rubber. Thought that if you find part of a recipe you will be shown what more you need to progress. It works for everything but the drivebelt.
-
Right thanks, but should finding rubber not tell open a new possibility ? There is absolutely nothing that indicate you also need sulphur ? Chemstation show no recipes even if you have found rubber
