I've seen the new cars! And are we gonna get weather/storms? Also, the cars give the impression they might be modular, like the ships.

I'm watching! Let's see what it's gonna be like!

RESOLVED Some more dedicated server issues
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Regarding the "less than every 12 hours" - the more people are online the more it happens, when I was playing it happened about every 45-60 minutes. -
The server is back up with a new map and double the CPU speed! Loading times are already at least 10x faster and the CPU doesn't seem to struggle as much. If there is any problem with the server please send me a private message on the forums and I will check it a few times during the day while at work to fix it for you Because there is now a new map there is no designated PVP island yet, I will pick one as soon as the savefile corruption problem is fixed and we can start building a nice server! Enjoy all! Adrie

Great to hear this! Enjoy at E3 When will we be able to see the video? Is it the time/date in the picture? Also, a Steam release date changes absolutely nothing to me, we can play without it and the later the better as it means people will have a better experience and thus will bring more players to the game Adrie

The server wasn't powerful enough so I'm currently awaiting a CPU upgrade to make things more smooth! Will be back on ASAP! Also, nothing in this world will stay for the moment since saves will go corrupt every few hours/days, so we will be changing worlds regularly. Please tell me if the server crashed and you can't log back on, that means we're gonna have to start a new world. Adrie

RESOLVED Dedicated Server Issues
WijkagentAdrie replied to John - NEXFER's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
We've encountered an issue where the client will freeze after sinking a ship using TNT. The first time both our clients froze upon dynamite blast. We blew up the ship because it was grounded. It was a bunch of dynamite attached to the ship, triggered by a frag grenade. Second time we tested it more on open see, the crash only occured after the ship had hit the bottom of the ocean. In both cases the crash happened while the ship was on the bottom, although the first time the moment of explosion + ship on bottom were the same moment (if you get me ). All this happened in a dedicated server! output_log.txt -
I know people have asked for a submarine but I believe the raft shouldn't be one When placing the raft on a dedicated server it immediately went to the bottom like a stone. EDIT: Further analysis has shown that the floating capabilities of boats and ships are also not what they used to be.

Another issue: On both the UK ylands and on my server after a while the server freezes. You're still able to look around but you are stuck in place and can't use the hotbar etc. Happened to other people on my server as well unfortunately. -

I'm currently hosting on a shitty VPS I was renting and wasn't using at the moment, I've made a forum post for it with the password. Despite the very low specs I didn't notice any lag yet, which seems ok. You mind if I add you on Steam if you have it? -
RESOLVED Dedicated Server Issues
WijkagentAdrie replied to John - NEXFER's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
My server seems to work, I am able to connect to it and play around. Because it's on a VPS the startup times are long yet when playing everything seems alright! -
Do animals, both hostile/friendly respawn currently? If not I'll keep a few alive
-
By using admin commands you can always manually respawn animals, but it would be nice if they would respawn eventually.
-
Bird nests do respawn eggs and feathers, so I rarely run short on them. Just be sure to check them often to maximise the amount

Regarding point 1: It prevents griefing by destruction, but it also enables griefing by blocking off doors/windows/entire buildings which will take hours to uncover again. I can already see this happen in multiplayer
-
On doors: Currently they are non symmetrical in any direction, and only open in 1 direction with no option to change this. Also the door isn't on the centre of the grid, depth wise. It's impossible to make any double doors without placing the 2nd door upside down, and in this case it doesn't look bad but doors with windows in them usually look funny upside down Also having doors just 1 block wider and maybe 2 higher would be an additional welcome for use as exterior doors or bigger garages! I think I've said this already somewhere else but I couldn't find it with the search so I guess I must've dreamed Thanks for noting everything all the time! Adrie

Oh yes! Doors can be locked but in this setup it requires 4 keys. If you delete the bottom doors it looks worse but you can put some more fencing there so people can't swim in and it will only require 2 keys. I'll be hosting a Explore mode server ASAP to see how this will work out. And that's a clever idea, maybe make a narrow passage where your large ship fits right through and then use the doors to make it just too narrow. Or maybe put a few of those on the bottom of the gate like the poles you see in the street Energydoors would make this work even better, then hide the lever behind a door which requires a key
-
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! You can dive under the foundations when you are inside but you can't dive under the doors, I've placed the same metal bars as in the windows. Also keeps the sharks out The doors are stacked on top of eachother and the right ones are upside down to get the rotation and alignment right. And indeed we could do with some larger size doors
-
Ofcourse we do! And therefore I can't just leave my boats outside, so I decided to make a small boat pen to test the whole concept. What's better to do when you come back from some trading, fishing or exploring then docking your boat ofcourse I've placed a seagull totem over the main boat door. Hope they help me discover some new places Doors open, ready to dock! Below the doors is a net to keep sharks out. And it's in! It's a really tight fit height wise, in fact the top of the mast even clips the doorway. Enough of the fancy night pictures, let's have a look by daylight: As you can see it's a fairly small and easy construction and shouldn't be too hard to build in multiplayer As always, thanks for watching, commenting and upvoting! Does the world end at farlands?
WijkagentAdrie replied to h2stipandav's question in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm curious to see how the bottom of the ocean looks after you go "off the map". Would we still be able to find stuff there and dig it up? Dig up massive amounts of sand just to create more islands? -
Be sure to put the middle of the boat on the middle of ONE of the beams, not right in between two of them, because it will tip over and fall straight in the water. Alternatively you can use panels or straight beams instead I tried to make it more realistic looking but by trying they never rested 100% flat unfortunately. There's a small ylandium generator in the front at the moment. If necessary I could place a windmill in between the sails without it looking too odd
