  1. Yes please, would be great if you can give us some numbers! Maybe also discuss the cost of the individual weapons to find out which ones are better or more economical :)

Maybe you could do it in a youtube video format?

  2. Sounds good, I'm looking forward to test this :) What is the size of the plot going to be, and is it 2d (all the way from the bottom of the earth to the moon) or 3d with height dimensions as well?

It could be an option or mod. Multiplayer game is still about killing and many minigames are about it too. Why not let people choose? We have mod workshop already? Where is a problem? :(

If the devs were to add it as an option I believe that that raises the age category as well unfortunately. I hope that with the modding people can bring it back :)

Can you please send us (via PM or here) the save file where you're having this issue? Thanks!

I've actually made a quick, plain test map that shows the problem rather well! I've made 3 gates:

    20171214221925_1.thumb.jpg.cae340df7ce1aef1922419d47f648f38.jpg

Gate 1, you can not go through. There is still roughly half a block space, but the game won't let you walk under it. Next to it is the exact same gate, but this time with slopes in front of it. For some reason, even though the height is 100% similar and you still walk under the exact same stone cubes, you can walk under this. But because the slopes are only in 1 direction you can only get through it in this one direction. Next to it is a 6 high gate which you can pass through normally.

On my ships I have been able to get through the left most gate. The reason I can get through is because due to the waves, the ship rocks from left to right. The character stays upright, so relative to the gate is in a diagonal position. This gives (when you're lucky) enough space to pass through, but it can be quite tricky. Also this triggers the other bug that when you push into your ship in first person the ship goes crazy.

Attached is the map, it's an editor scenario so be sure to change the extension :)

  5. The game already logs what blocks are placed by who I believe. I think that every player should have the ability to pick up/destroy the blocks they placed themselves, all over the world. All blocks not being placed on a ship or car, or within a shield generator should be destroyable.

The only thing that I'm still doubting is what happens if people place blocks around your shield generator, or make ugly crappy things all over the island in general, and then leave the server. Should all blocks placed outside generators, cars and ships be able for pick up by anyone? I think this is a discussion that's ongoing with the developers as well as it's hard to work out.

There's already a crowbar in the game, by the way. :P

Sadly I don't think its currently being used for that.

Apparently, in the next few updates we'll get a barrier system that will act as a sort of land claim, where the owner can break hardened blocks quickly (or pick 'em back up, I suppose) while keeping it harder to break by other people (for multiplayer situations). From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, the devs' intent is to keep the system relatively realistic (its a lot of trouble to demolish a house completely, and the faster you do it, the less useful stuff you can salvage from it) which is a fair enough design decision, and helps differentiate this game from other crafty-buildy-survivalish-sandboxy games in the market. I'm all for that, actually.

But I think a compromise is possible. Perhaps its a bit more complex, but a potentially interesting way to get around the difficulty of building things (but not breaking them apart) could be something along the lines of using the editor (or creative mode) to save blueprints of structures, houses, or whatever else you want to make in a survival or multiplayer game, that you could then place as a single unit in the game and then fill with the building materials that it needs, like you would fuel a furnace for example, until the structure is fully built. That way remodeling a house would still take work, but it would eliminate the problem of things hardening WHILE you are building, so it would take a lot less time (and trial-and-error) to get things just right. Depending on how this is handled you could even possibly upload the blueprints of your creations to the steam workshop (or a dropbox or something) and share it with other players if you wanted. If I recall, Space Engineers had something along those lines, and I think its a very cool system that would work well for Ylands.

The creation of a blueprint could even take some pencil and paper and such, keeping with the realistic approach.

What if players/griefers harden a massive stone wall right in front of your door? Or just ugly stone piles all over the island?

  6. Hello,

Already posted this in the 0.6 bugs thread, but this is apparently still persistent. I thought it had to do with my old map being from a few patches ago so I started from scratch on a new map.

What happens: I'm building a ship. Save the game, close the entire game, start the game, load up my map, and certain blocks are moved/clipped into eachother, others have lost their paint. This happens mainly to blocks whose movement/placement I have undone (using ctrl+z), which i have deleted or which I have moved using the move tool. This all happens in the editor by the way.

The end result is again a lot of lost time :(

    Here's my savegame + logs:

  7. Heya! To get hay you should pick up dried/withered plants. Bird nests also give hay but since they constantly respawn eggs and feathers I wouldn't pick those up!

You could always load your game up in the editor, double click your boat, and set the rotation values to 0 :) And then go back to your games and continue your game with your boat now being upright again.

@Aleš Ulm  Has the walking height recently changed? I'm quite convinced that this used to be different. Previous to 0.6 I could normally walk around on my ships with a 5 block high ceiling, now I can only sometimes force myself in. In first person this makes my boat go completely crazy.

  8. At first when reading the title I thought "no, this game needs one massive world". Then I realized that say after a month, if a new player joins, he will have to sail over 2 hours just to find an unmolested island for himself to settle. This could actually be a solution to that, some form of teleporting/warping to different worlds. This could greatly decrease distances (although I feel that some sailing should still be necessary!), and make it possible to have loads of islands and resources. Another intermediate solution would be to have an infinite world with some kind of teleporters.

    Thank you so much :)

Interior is still empty... Spent so much time on those damned poles that I needed to take a break :D Will get back with picture when it's decorated :)

Sweet, can't wait! Also be sure to share some more exterior pictures, the door area looks interesting but I can't really see it now. And some pictures a little bit further away to get a good global view is always nice as well :D

Do you know if adding extra blocks/storage/items to a ship will give it weight that will skew those percentages?

Weight doesn't impact the ship speed at all! I also tested this and it will be in the video :D Other things that don't matter are for example the direction of the sails. You can place the sails upside down, sideways, flat etc., it all won't matter!

Looking forward to  my first  cannon...     interested to see if  it is effective against   sharks, bears  and those other structures. Wondering if its possible to  mount a cannon on the  back of a vehicle..:)  ( evil  mind at work, here! B| )

I can confirm all of this, yes you can mount it on vehicles (I highly recommend putting it on a car as it's a mobile destruction device :)) and it does fix all your problems in general, including animals.

Not wrong about those Tesla coils. All of my stuff is now sitting at the top of the cube ?

They are rather unforgiving yeah :D How did you get there? By building a stairs or did you fly up there?

I usually make a cannon to get rid of the coils :) But be careful not to destroy the rest.

Cool, thanks! I did not know that! ^^

    For a quick preview:

Each large mast gives 100% speed, each small mast gives 60% speed. The maximum amount on a large ship is 550%, the maximum amount on a small ship is 450% :) So on a large ship, 5 large masts + 1 small masts (560% total) is the max, on the small ship 4 large masts + 1 small mast (460%) is the maximum! The direction of placement doesn't matter.

I dont know about you guys, but I feel like the ship/boat speed on the ocean is a bit low. I feel like it could have been uped a little bit. Or maybe its just something wrong with my ship that makes it go slower than it should be, idk.

Heya! I'm almost done recording my first youtube video on ship speed! The ship speed is based on the amount of sails you put on the ship :) In my video I will explain how much masts will give you how much speed.

  15. Heya! These are fairly common, or at least easy to find :D The things on top are pretty dangerous, and will kill you if you get near! There's usually some treasure inside :) There's multiple ways to get to it, and there's multiple ways to get the treasure out. If you need any more hints feel free to ask!
