Trying to play multiplayer in Ylands......
bojo2736 replied to kimbuck's topic in General Discussion
I think I have figured out at least a part of my boat glitching. I generally steer in first person because it's easier to see the birds. I think the first person cam fubars the boat. Also, I dont built the front helm piece because it impedes firsy person view. So now I have been trying to do just third person cam, and it's somewhat better. -
Sleeping makes time stop, but getting chucked out of the game while sailing? Nope. You will either die at sea, crash into some unknown island. Or both.

I wish they have shark hide that you could craft for swimming. Yes, you can do the nepoprene, but not every biome has rubber trees and sulfer. Every biome has sharks.

Who gave @RedEagle_MGN a paint gun?

@Baz Foobar says that the sharks are attracted by fish in your inventory or stored on the ship. -
Trying to play multiplayer in Ylands......

I just spent more than 15 minutes trying to get back in after my boat glitched and I got dumped out. MP is mostly unplayable. Please please address this. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt -
Suggest Ability To Flatten Water In Editor
bojo2736 replied to Pharaun Mizzrym's question in Suggestions & Feedback
You got that right. I tried to make a pool in both SP and MP. It sort of works. But it is not great. -

What if I don't want to sleep at night?
bojo2736 replied to Pharaun Mizzrym's topic in General Discussion
You can have all of those things in SP. Or you can host a dedicated server and set up your rules. I do agree, in games where sleep is expected, they really should supply beds that stay with your character even after death. -
What if I don't want to sleep at night?
bojo2736 replied to Pharaun Mizzrym's topic in General Discussion
Offensive? Wow. Here's the main point. Multiplayer is about interacting with other players. If you don't want to do that, then play single player. If you are playing with others, don't be a jerk. If they need to sleep and you reasonably can, then you should. When messaging in game works better, a quick "sorry guys, I can't sleep now" will go a long ways in the not being a jerk dept. Grass mats are, I think, grass, rope and a knife. Not that hard to come by. In a server that asks for coordination of sleep, I try to keep one in inventory. It isn't much to ask. -

RIP to a truly awesome work. I'm sorry I didn't get to play it

After four hours trying to get ships and people back where they should be, I ventured bravely this morning. More ship glitching. My partner died and we are still trying to locate her body. I ended up on a far island but with my ship intact so i can get home. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt error.log output_log.txt

Looking for an active Ylands community to play games with?
bojo2736 replied to RedEagle_P1.'s topic in General Discussion
I can find the discord. I don't have mic, it seems like I can't text. I can't find the actual game on the server. If you want this to be used, you really need to make it more user friendly. I am not a dummy, but I can't figure out how to get there. -
I think foobar's is 12.

Goats eat grass. I had some goats in a pen and planted grass for decoration. They kept eating it. I don't think they will die without it, but I dont know.

I wasn't going to reply to your personal insults, but since it's become part of the discussion here, I will. As others have pointed out, YOU brought up textures. I didn't reply to the other parts of your "questions" because I was interested in what the discussion would be. It seemed to me that both topics were started in a very defensive and obnoxious way by you. Then you invited me to wait for you outside. Twice. I don't know where you are from. I am in the USA. That is an invitation to phyisically fight here. Is that how you meant it? I can only guess. But it set you up as being overly aggressive and in fact the "butthurt" one. My "insults" were not all that bad, but they were in response to your overly aggressive response. I don't care if you criticize the game. Or make suggestions. That's largely what this forum is for. But your complaints about the colors and the textures at this stage of development is just... It's like you don't want to deal with reality. Like complaining that the sky is blue when you think it should be pink. When I said that what you were suggesting would be a ground up redesign, you blew that off with "modders do it all the time." To which I responded, that mods and CC don't really work all that well, in my experience. The just paste of the top of original content. They look and act like they are pasted on the top, which is what they are. To change the color scheme and texture scheme would require reworking lighting and shadows, and animations. You know... a redesign. Also it gets into branding and overall feel. I can understand it being an issue. There are games I don't play because I don't like the feel of them. Minecraft is one. I love building. It's what drives my interest in most games. I can't get past blocky pixels. So I don't play. You never commented on my assertion that mods generally don't do what you claimed. You just started bashing my response. If you want to have a discussion, that's groovy. But do it. YOU are the one who came in being rather obnoxious from the get go.

Overly simplistic graphics and textures has definitely hurt minecraft. Clearly.

I was trying to rescue a player who was not online, but on a raft drifting. I tried pushing them toward the shore. It was really impossible. We can craft ropes, why not allow towing as an option?

That has always happened to me in placing items on my ship. It's always either crystals or lanterns.

When you are the designated driver...

As predicted, the lag coming in is worse. But things seem a bit more stable. One thing I do notice is that my character has to try several time to pick up items. It's not quite the thing where they just keep stooping down, it's actually picking up, it just seems... sluggish? Everything else seemed better to me.
