Hi, I had the same issue several times. Forced to create new character upon load for no reason - no tombstone - no loot remains. Now, that I placed and activated the protective barrier, I can't even continue to build my base as it's "in someone elses protective area". The other guy was my previous me, but obviously the game didn't notice my death either. Pretty annoying not being able to continue progressing the own base! Please find it and fix it fast.
