  1. Evidence, in case more was needed... Killed while offline (after being ambushed and killed at my base the first time) (I had only dropped in to see the condition of my base. Seems he killed me, took what I was carrying, and buggered off. Not that I'm interested in playing there any more.) edit: And I'm inclined to agree with kimbuck. We just need to give BI any info they need, and trust they'll do what needs to be done. I'm going to go play on my private islands now.
  2. So, "Jay"... Which one are you? Adolf or Conan? By the way, if a server is called "Explore" then it's PVE. Period. The PVP servers are named accordingly. Explore NA 9 is a PVE server.
  3. Probably also a good idea for those with PVTE servers to carefully screen the players requesting access. I know their ruse wouldn't last long, but they might try to "Trojan Horse" their way onto a private server, and there's no telling what level of power their hack/exploit gives them once they're in.
  4. From what everyone's describing, it sounds like a hack or a mod of some kind. If that's the case, then none of the public servers are safe, PVE or otherwise. To be able to unlock a door within someone else's PB, seemingly without a key? They would need to be able to view the door's properties, get the code, and make a key to exactly that code. It's a mod, or they have access to the server itself in the Editor. When I visited their base, the PB behaved exactly as it should have and I wasn't able to do anything except look around.
  5. After cooling down for a few hours, I've decided I'm done with NA 9. With my base compromised, and no good way to really secure it again, I can't do anything with it. I haven't been back, but I can only assume the trees and such are all gone, and the area around the base has been disfigured in some way. BOHEMIA: How about a wipe and complete reset on Explore NA 9? And we all need to seriously discuss what kind of moderation measures BI has in mind for the future. If it doesn't change, Online MP will be completely unplayable, and BI will lose players in droves. I'm going to fall back to SP for a while to clear my head, maybe try a couple huge builds.
  6. On NA 9, Conan is also a hostile. Found my base. Everything's locked, but I have to start over with my weapons and armor. Edit: I got a screenshot of their full ID, if anyone needs it. Another edit: Conan now has a GUN, by the way. It's mine. I'd like it back.
  7. Do you know where his base is? I'm on there, managed to get off spawn and build up a bit, and I'm feeling slightly sadistic today. Regarding moderating: If BI were to allow it, I would have suggested all moderators band together, exchanging offenders and evidence, and deciding on consistent and fair repercussions for repeat offenders. Maybe even in a locked subforum right here.

    For the past couple days (right up until right now) I have not been able to access it at all. I would always get the white page or the error.
  9. I have not tried all the various colors, but when I dyed some items white, it consumed the black pigment instead. (Online MP, Explore NA 10) There was also a momentary glitch where it only displayed the contents of my key ring as items that could be dyed. Edit: It might or might not be relevant that I was using the _White, _Black, _Red, etc pigments found on the color golem. I have not yet crafted my own pigments. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  10. I mentioned this in the update thread, but I figure this bug is worth its own since it affects exploration so much. After starting a new game after the update, I built my Large Ship as usual. When I grabbed the helm to sail it, the compass widget is missing from the upper right of the screen, and the Ylander does not animate as if he is grabbing the wheel. I have logged off the server several times, and restarted the game several times (including to sleep last night). There is no change. The compass is present when sailing the Boat, which I used to get off the spawn island. The issue is present for me on both online MP, and offline SP. (I tried it in Creative mode last night.) I've attached the logs from my brief online session this morning. I have figured out a temporary workaround, so navigation is not completely dead for now. I look at my map to see what direction I'm facing, unlock the ship's camera and point it the direction I want to go, then start moving and line up the ship with the camera. It's clumsy, but it will serve the purpose until this is fixed. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt

    Enough is an enough!

    This is exactly why I'd suggested BI somehow allowing volunteer moderators on the public servers. They have their hands full with development. Meanwhile new players just trying the game see this kind of behavior and it affects how they view the game. It's not a good introduction to such a fun game, and it's inevitably going to turn a few away. The coverage might be hit-or-miss with volunteers, but it would at least be something.

    Can we bring horses on ships yet?

    Out of curiosity, since I haven't tried it yet myself... Does it glitch out the ship, or does the horse just not travel well? I have it in mind to try transporting some of the various predator animals (in a cage on the ship) for my private zoo that I'm building, and I'm not even sure it will work yet. I have been able to coax a couple pumas to the base from the island it's next to, Pied Piper style, but this is a little bit more ambitious than that.

    Yeah I wasn't really prepared for it. Didn't even realize it wasn't their boat until they started hitting it. I might have to start recording my visits back to spawn.

    Yeah, starting to see the griefers flood back into the public servers. I just ran into one while visiting back near Spawn on NA 10. The person (username Channis? or something like that) was stealing a boat to smash it at sea. I offered them a couple bullets. One of them hit before they sank into the water and went offline. The boat didn't make it. This is why I make it a point to get off of Spawn island ASAP. Just wish I could do more to help the other legit players without giving up my entire game.

    It varies, like every other resource. But it is less than the others. There is usually some that can be found deep in the caves on some islands. If you find one of those, you can end up with tons of it. If you're not patient enough to search (like me) you can collect valuable items and trade with NPC's to get it. There's usually at least one NPC who will have 400 gold pebbles available, which can smelt into 4 gold ingot, enough for a full set of Guardian Armor.

    Regarding the numbering: Going from 0.9 to 0.10 is actually pretty standard. Remember those numbers don't represent a numeric amount. They represent a version code. The "." does not separate a whole number value from a decimal value. It separates a full major update from relatively minor updates. It's not unusual for software to have version numbers like 2.12.3 or something like that, where 2 is the full version, 12 is a smaller update, and 3 is a patch. It varies with every developer and every project, but there is always a numbering system.

    How to share blueprints?

    A "simple" fix for that limitation would be to disallow blueprinting if it contains an object that can't be crafted in Explore. Creative and Editor would need to be able to distinguish them, but once they can, it could be as direct as a message saying "This construction contains items that cannot be included in a blueprint" and just not allowing the blueprint to be created as-is. Or maybe it blueprints everything except those items. Custom skins would be blueprinted as the default version.

    It's still an early version of the feature. As much as people are liking it already, I'm sure it will expand as they get it stabilized.
  23. I took a break and restarted the game, and checked it again. This time I noticed that the issue is entirely the interface. On the main menu screen for the Dyeing stand, it is displaying my pigment amounts incorrectly. The number for black pigment and the number for white pigment are switched. Red, green, and blue appear to be right. (They consumed correctly, just not showing correct numbers on screen.)
  24. For me it has always happened when I right-click an item in my inventory to place it in the empty slot (#0) and activate it (such as selecting a stack of stone blocks to build, for example). It will put the stack in the empty slot, and it will be the active item for a split second, then the game will select the hand (#1) as the active item. I have not been paying attention to which slot is active before the selection is made.

    I normally just search for "door" and it reduces the list enough to find the one I need.
