    Things You Didn't Know

Would you like your lanterns to be a little brighter? Dye them white.
  2. Letting the avatars persist in the world makes a lot of sense with a game like this, and I kind of like it. It allows for a little harmless fun (I found one person on the shore of the starting island, and planted a bunch of carrots around them last night.... for no reason) and even allows you to know the other players a little better just by seeing them and their name. One change I would make is this: Allow the environment to harm us, which makes sense in the game, but don't allow other players to directly harm us while we are offline. Maybe even have other limits, such as having a small "protective barrier" around the spawn point that applies to everyone, including not allowing them to build over it. One thing that needs to be fixed, though, is the dead bodies that remain. I returned to my original base last night to move some supplies to my new home, and found 4 or 5 of them scattered around the beach near my outside workstations. They are not disappearing, and apparently my attempt to be nice to other players (leaving stations and basic supplies outside my old base) has become a griefer camp.
  3. I know it has already been suggested to allow us to turn off and move our PB. I agree with this. If we decide to change homes to avoid griefers or if we just found a better island, we lose our PB and the new home will never be protected. Just have a rule that one PB can not be placed inside another or overlap them (if the rule doesn't already exist) to avoid griefers using their PB to cause problems inside someone's home. I think the PB should also become our spawn point when it is active.

    Protective Barriers, online multiplayer

Maybe it could change which island becomes our spawn, if not that specific location. If something goes wrong, I'd like to be able to get started recovering quickly, and not worry about having to sail to another island where I put my base. And I like the idea of it being visible on our map.

    ladder theft

It's very creative, even if it is wrong. I have seen a similar glitch on my own ship in SP. I had a rope ladder in place, then added blocks in front of it to make a roof. It was closed off but I was still able to climb it. Maybe the collision box for the rope ladder needs to be 1 full block wide or more, so it can not be mounted where something already exists.
  6. Same. It usually takes me 3 or 4 tries to get up the ladder, then I'm swimming across the deck. I got in the habit of doing a quick jump to test where the server thinks I am, before I start walking. And I stop my ship before doing anything too. It's just too dangerous to let go of the wheel when you're moving. If I wasn't glitched it probably would have killed me by now. I've lost count of how many sharks I've had to punch to death.

    Breeding

I would really love to "tame" a few bears to defend my home.
  8. I don't understand how they find that fun. To me it's way more fun to leave offline players pleasant or strange surprises. Not anything that would get them killed or hurt their game. For example, I returned to my home base to find someone offline just in front of my door, so I planted a ton of grass and ferns around them. Why?... Why not. (If I'd thought they were a griefer, I would have surrounded them with trees instead.) And I made a point of leaving items I didn't need in baskets outside for other players to use if they needed them. It took me hours to get resources to build a ship because I was going out of my way to not strip the island clean.
  9. This is happening right now on NA Explore 4. I am one with one other player, they requested to sleep. When we woke up, the clock advanced to about 6:14. Then it said 6:15, then 6:14, 6:15, 6:14, 6:16, 6:14, and right now it's stuck at about 6:15. Very strange. I'm still playing, but I could send logs later if you need.

    Invincible in MP

Take your time fixing this bug. I logged on to MP for my first time today. After getting myself set up in a sweet underground bunker, I did a little anti-griefing (leaving presents for players who are AFK) but that's a different story. I had to log out to get my dinner. When I came back, the FPS immediately dropped very low then the whole game crashed. I started it again and logged back into the server... And I'm invincible. The hearts are orange instead of red. I have since faced a bunch of pumas and wolves, and never lost any health at all. I even got the joy of knocking out a bear with my bare hands. That was fun. I closed the game and restarted, and I was still invincible. I expect it could change any time I log in... but I hope not. Update this morning: Now he doesn't get hungry. This just keeps getting better.

It looks similar. I'm on NA Explore 4, just FYI.

    Invincible in MP

I hope it doesn't come to that. If I lose my keys, I might as well start over on a different server. I have everything locked: cabinets, iron doors, stone chests, and even a cage around the helm of my ship. If I lose the keys, it's all gone. I'm not too worried about losing my barrier. I placed it on the first island, and I'm already at a third one. I'll have that server mapped by this weekend. But if I lose my keys... Ah well... It will be fun until then. I understand the official servers get wiped sometimes anyway, so it's only a matter of time.

    Another funny screenshot thread...

The sharks have learned to fly. We're doomed. This is in online MP, by the way. See the hearts? I glitched somehow to become invincible. No idea how it happened. Maybe I was exposed to some Ylandium ray burst that has turned me into a superhero. Or a supervillain. I haven't decided yet.
  14. If they need more information, it happened to me again tonight. I started a new Creative Mode game, 3 size-4 islands. It is the only game I have played tonight. I mapped the shores of one all the way around, then decided to start building a large ship. At the start of the game, the time was working perfectly, and continued to work fine until I decided to sleep through a night. When I woke at 6:00 the time stopped and stayed at 6:00 for a half hour before I saved and exited the game. The Logs: output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  15. For me, it seemed like only the time was slow. Weather did change for me, but this could possibly be because I was moving on my ship, and I simply found weather where it was stopped. I am on Steam. Windows 8.1 64-bit, 12GB RAM, Intel i7-4710HQ CPU, Nvidia Geforce GTX (It's a "gaming laptop") The current game was started just after the previous update, and is very far along (5 or 6 islands found and fully explored, elaborate ship built, most recipes unlocked). I did see a couple other glitches before I noticed the slow time, but because they did not repeat, I did not worry about them. For example, I was briefly not able to access any cabinets on my ship, it said they were in use by someone else. Thinking back, I do remember planting some bearberries that seemed like they would never grow (I finally gave up and sailed away). edit: I loaded my game again, just now, and the time seems to be working again. Strange. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  16. I did sleep eventually, just to get through a storm. But the time problem started before and continued after sleeping. I will try to remember to get the log when I get home this evening.
  17. When using the Creator Cube, items are grouped by type or theme (such as Wooden Blocks, Stone Blocks, etc). This is very useful. Would we be able to have something similar in the normal crafting menu? Of course it would only show what we have unlocked, but I think the grouping would be helpful there too. Also, has anyone suggested being able to search by ingredients, not just the name of the items? Such as typing "iron" to see anything that uses iron in the recipe.

    0.8: Meaningful Music (28/03/2018)

On a more positive note, I like the way the map works now. It's great being able to zoom all the way out to see all the islands at once. And nice to know it's been set up for more features later.
  19. It's not just MP. My SP clock went from 1 minute in game every 2 real seconds, to 1 minute in game every 10 or 15 minutes I think. I have not done the math, but when I sailed around re-mapping my current Explore mode game, I started at 6:00 and was able to re-map all the islands plus find a new one before 10:00. Meanwhile, the rest of the timing seemed to work. He was getting hungry every once in a while. It's just that according to the in-game clock, he was getting hungry every few minutes.

    0.8: Meaningful Music (28/03/2018)

Is anyone else seeing time run slowly? My current explore is 48min duration days. I've been sailing for about 1/2 hour real time, looking for new islands, and the game time went from 6:10 to 6:20.
  21. Just wanted to post a quick message about these before going to bed. 1. The "You Are moving Away from the Area Containing Ylands" message is just wrong. I'm not sure what the game is using to calculate this, but it needs to be rewritten. I have received this message while sailing directly at islands I already know exist. 2. On my current ship, I built a cabin. It is completely enclosed, 100%. But when it storms, I get this: During one storm, it would not let me light my brazier, even though I'm inside a building.

    Things You Didn't Know

The answer is no. As soon as you hit forward, the physics turn on and the ship drops like a stone. The work platform in the air still works, though.

    Things You Didn't Know

I know, right? I haven't tried yet, but I'm kind of curious whether the sails will work while you're floating down. Can a ship (sort of) fly? And if you drop the anchor again, will it stop in mid-air?

    Things You Didn't Know

I did a little work on exactly how big Vehicle Bounds are for the different vehicles, so I could plot out the exact grid. Here's the results: For both ships, you can build 50 blocks up from the deck, and 12 blocks down (about 8 below water level). Be careful, though, as you get farther away from the ship itself, the grid gets less accurate for some reason. Also, be very careful adding pieces under the water level, because it can make it very hard to move near islands. Masts can be placed on any level you want, even if it's on the roof of the second or third floor of your ship. You can even make a platform at the max height for the ship, and place the mast on top of that (for now). They can also be placed directly in front of each other, and you will still get the extra speed. I like to put mine all the way at the back, and the helm all the way at the front so I can see where I'm going. LARGE SHIP: The bounds for the large ship are 40 squares wide and 88 squares long. download full size image here: https://lensdump.com/i/8TPKbc REGULAR SHIP: The bounds for the smaller ship are 40 squares wide and 68 squares long. download the full size image here: https://lensdump.com/i/8TP7tK BOTH CARS: The cars do not allow as much to go over the sides. Both will allow about 9 blocks up from the body. download full size image here: https://lensdump.com/i/8TPmax QUICK TIP: One cool thing I discovered while doing this... If you're in Creative mode and you're having trouble working on your ship in the water, you can build a "dry dock" in the air! Place a Floating Platform way above the water, and extend a bunch of 4x4 blocks from it in a line about as long as the ship. Place your boat on top of it, going in the same direction as the blocks. (Use "Q" to raise it a little and allow it to sit on top of the blocks.) It will balance on your platform and you can work in the air! When you're finished, use the Annihilator to destroy the platform, and your boat will drop gently down to the water. (It might go nose first, but don't worry, it will be fine.) You can even build another platform under it so you can walk around while you create the bottom of your ship, just remember to destroy it too so your ship can fall. EDIT: If you "drop anchor" while your ship is in the air, it will stay there even if you remove the platform. So you can destroy the blocks, then get on your ship, raise the anchor, and ride it down the water.
