Hi guys. Just want to say first off that I have streamed the game on Twitch for the last week or so and had a lot of fun doing so. I think this game has a big future ahead of it. Once it hits Steam Early Access I feel like it could be huge. Anyone that has come into the stream already knowing about the game has been really positive, thanks for that! Anyone I have introduced to the game has also been really impressed by it even if it's not something they want to play themselves it seems to be fun to watch.
I'm just going to list a few things here that have been discussed in chat or I have experienced while playing.
Bugs:
- While other players are fishing I am receiving the 'no luck this time' message on my screen with the sound effect to go with it. This happens when I am not personally fishing. We were playing in a locally hosted multiplayer game.
- Items/Textures were disappearing for some players after a while. For example people were unable to see our ship or items in front of them on the floor. The ship for example was still there for the player as I could direct them to the ladder to get on the ship but they were unable to see it. This was fixed by a relog into the game.
- We seem to get hungry very quickly at the moment. I feel like it happens waaaay more often after the recent patch.....but I could be imagining this.
- The map was only updating for myself while we were sailing. Other players reported only being able to see the spot we were in on the map, but not where we had already been.
- After killing some animals (both hostile and friendly) the corpse can be stuck in the ground making it impossible to gut the animal for skin, meat etc
- In multiplayer the weather seems to be different for each person. Quite often I find myself stuck with permanent fog but my viewers have clear skies. I have to rely on them to navigate the ship
- Upon exiting the game to the main menu I sometimes find the game hangs. The cog will turn as though it is perhaps saving the game but it does not progress any further. I have to use task manager to exit the game. It's not that big of a deal but I just worry about the game save becoming corrupt. I have been told this can happen in single player as well.
Suggestions:
Most of these suggestions are sailing related as we had a great deal of fun working towards crafting the ship and then building it into a floating home with all crafting tables etc. I feel the sailing to explore other areas of the world is incredibly fun.
- Random places to loot out on the open sea (Flotsam) would be great.
- Being able to go below deck on your ship would be great. I bigger pre-fab ship may be needed for this.
- Allowing us to edit the exploration mode is a massive thing for me personally. For example in creative you can edit the number of POI's on islands, island size etc.
- Fishing nets that give random loot could be interesting. As you are sailing you could lower your nets and after a set period of time or perhaps distance traveled you could check your nets for loot.
- Would love to be able to change the weather using a console command. When it's really foggy it's not 'stream friendly' so this a kind of selfish request
- Life at sea such as whales or dolphins would really add to the atmosphere when traveling between islands. As we were sailing I was really hoping to see a giant whale breach the surface water for example.
- NPC/AI Pirates to do combat with would be amazing. I feel like this could be great fun. I'm not much of an RP'er but the idea of me being able to play 'captain of the ship' sounds like a good laugh.
- I would love to see a telescope/spyglass added for use when sailing. I guess it might be useful on land as well.
Questions:
- We were wondering just how big the world is in 'exploration' mode? We set sail and went south but only found one island. We continued South for about 90 minutes without seeing any birds or other points of interest. Eventually we came to what appeared to be 'fog wall' that I assume is the 'edge of the world'.
- I was personally wondering if you guys had any plans to get involved with the streaming community? I tend to play a lot of Early Access games and many of them are putting together 'stream teams' these days.
EDIT: Added some more possible bugs and a suggestion!
