0 kimbuck 746 Posted August 15, 2018 Yes..it can be depressing. Even on pvte servers there has to be a shut down so you "can bring out your dead" and remove them otherwise they pile up and lag the game badly. What is strange is sometimes they levitate and compete with the flying sharks.. I often drop in to some official servers for a look , and the view at the arrival area is post apocalyptic.... from natural deaths due to disinterest, or victims of the "kill everything" griefers , and its so depressing that there's virtually no life anywhere ... and if i decide not to stay i prefer to craft a wooden shovel , dig a hole in a mountainside and bury myself. Its a feature of all mp games when someone whose a non serious player and "there for the lolz" arrives .. they run around the spawn area...and then log out and die! Some prefer to commit this suicide on someones doorstep or moored ship or in the middle of a place where building is underway, effectively blocking it. It seems to be a passive form of deliberate griefing for some and its not uncommon to see the same person do the same thing each time a new game/map is started.. Well jellyfish have been around for millions of years and they don't have a brain too .. so there is help for these types... You have several options ... if its not in PB protected area, and they are in the way and not moved for several days, bury them, but place a stone panel over the top to stop them re-surfacing! I often get people "infesting" the sleeping areas on my welcome places, where they lay there for days on end and never return to the game and clutter the place up .. so now i build elevated structures with sleeping accommodation... over water, if i can ... so if someone occupies a bed, or dies there, after a couple of days i can deconstruct the bed, floor and let them drop into oblivion underneath ----- If there's sharks around and the resting place is out over the water, there's some rather neat shark-feeding sound effects courtesy of BI What needs to be done is that if a body is on the ground in a designated spawn area and not logged in for at least 2 real time days, it then "decomposes" ... or bring in modified vultures ...... 0 Indomitus 388 Posted August 15, 2018 I believe they did mention they were working on making the game "self-clean" dead Ylanders and general clutter over time. Hopefully that will be ready soon. It will improve things by a lot.
