invisible birds

created new default explore world and can't see birds, but i clearly hear different bird noises around me

i tried reloading save, game, pc and checking integrity of game, nothing helps

i have the same issue on all new and old saves as well

Bird sound effects are part of the general sounds of the game when you're on an island.

For now, the only birds visible in the game are the ones in the sky that lead you to islands, and the personal pets that are available.

i don't see any high flying birds either, even looking from high places or making trips around starting yland, can't find islands as a result

They seem to spawn in the air above the center of spawn. I find them better looking inland to see if you can see any flying out. looking out to sea is harder.  I also feel like sometimes on a new map they wait for you to start sailing to spawn, but that may be my imagination.
