    Things You Didn't Know

First annual ship free fall competition to be hosted on "?????????" servers on ??/??/2018? Barrel rolls? Swan dives? Belly Slams? Closest to the water without hitting? I'm not doing it but someone should. LOL

    Things You Didn't Know

I might do that just for the "weee" factor. (roller coaster dip type fun)
  3. Another thing I wanted to mention as of last update is that the submarine sphere key has not been in the sphere with the mark (something) armor pants on any of the games ive attempted, the pants are there as well as some ingots I think but never a key as I have seen in a bunch of video playthroughs. I haven't played since my previous bug report so you guys already have the files you requested then. I'm not sure is this is a bug or intentional but thought I would mention it.
  4. Forgot I posted this but the last time I played a few weeks ago I did find the key as ane suggested it was on a wall behind the force field and that's what threw me off because in the vids I saw it was inside the sphere so I never thought about looking elsewhere. I find it odd that they changed the location though.

Interesting but hard to understand how you actually created the circle without a more detailed account of how you did it. Everything else seems clear to me.

    Official Item Suggestion Thread

@TheSparkPlug and @Baz Foobar Guys i wasn't trying to make an argument about right or wrong my only intent was to let players not as experienced at Ylands as you guys know they could possibly lose stacks of things if the bug gets fixed without warning. I am all for gamers playing games that they payed for enjoying them in the manner that they enjoy them the most. No need for apologies. I actually think both of you are great and respect your knowledge of the game and involvement.

    Official Item Suggestion Thread

As a bug I don't think they are going to give people advance notice when it gets fixed. Even though it's harmless, using the bug could lead to loss of everything that doesn't belong in it when the bug ultimately gets fixed. I would never presume to tell people how they should play a game but for me, i'm not willing to risk losing stacks of things.

It holds Gravel, (made from destroying stone and rocks) sand and dirt. I've never had anything else in there.
  9. I haven't seen many posts about the single player explore experience and I'd like to hear from folks as to how far they are actually able to get in single player explore mode recently. I've played over 300 hours in single player explore mode and only one game out of around 8 was I able to get close to exploring the whole map before the game became unplayable. That was the very first game I played and it was before the last update. So folks, how far have you been able to get and how recent was the experience? I'm asking because most of the recent posts have pertained to multiplayer problems. In my experience the game remains playable as long as I stay on the starter island which usually is only until I am in need of a material such as rubber, sulfur, saltpeter or copper. The more of the map that I explore the more unplayable the game becomes. I have also noticed that the longer I play per session the more unplayable the game becomes in that particular session. For instance my most recent game ( i decided to give it another shot after the recent hotfixes to see if they had any effect) I have discovered 4 islands and after about 40 minutes even if I stay on my home island the entire time the game becomes unplayable for me. The disk becomes 100% busy alternating between ylands.exe and system with windows antimalware service executable becoming more active than usual as well. At this point I'm forced to exit to the loading screen in order to save my progress and this takes approximately 5 minutes and up then after I am back at the loading screen fully exiting the game take another period of 5 or more minutes just to exit the game. I have never seen a piece of software act like this and it defies all logic. Also I'd like to ask the devs, what on earth do you have my hard drive doing for that long period of time? the save game file is not large enough to account for that amount of disk usage. I only ask because i'm not seeing many reviews on steam that have more than 8 or so hours of playtime. If i only played 8 hours of single player my review would have been positive as well.

    Why are there dead bodies?

If they start creeping along like the ships are doing is when i'll worry.
  11. This is all I'm really looking for as to fully playable. If you can discover all the islands then you can presumably do everything there is to do in the game. I'm glad to see it's not borked for everyone.
  12. I've tried multiple new games with the same result each time. I'm still not seeing any reports of successful completion of a game started after 0.7 and the hot fixes i.e. discovering all islands/underwater stuff, building ships and bases. When I start seeing reports from players that can accomplish that and they announce a fix then i'll give it another go. Sure i'd like to be able to play but i have tons of games that are less of a headache and that makes me not in a hurry about it. I came close to what I considered a finished explore game the first time I played and that was right before 0.7. I had all of the islands discovered I think I had 9 that time. So at least for me something changed with 0.7 and the hotfixes. I don't understand the lack of posts confirming the game is fully playable. Have you watched that guys entire season 2? was he able to explore all of the islands? Maybe it has to do with something silly like adding a ship from the editor i saved from a previous game? Who knows, that's why I wanted to discuss it.
  13. I hated looking at the video because it makes me want to play and I cant LOL but it does plainly show that his boat moved on it's own. Are poltergeists a thing in Ylands?

    Sneak Peek #48

I absolutely agree with you on this point it certainly isn't your job or any other customers job to troubleshoot a game in early access. Some people enjoy that but for the most part people buy games because they enjoy playing games and game developers that rely too heavily on free labor from their customers place themselves at great risk of alienating their customers before a game is even released ( I should say finished here because the game is already for sale and that is what constitutes release). I think so far the official dev posts have been respectful requests and Ane has never failed to say please. I hope they stay respectful and remember that it takes customers to make them successful. I think the majority of players think the concept of the game is great but we can't play a concept that is at present unplayable for a lot of people. I really miss the days when games devs gave out free copies of games in exchange for beta testing because now somehow gamers have been duped into paying for concepts instead of finished games and i find it even more amazing that we actually buy into it, only twice for me and the first was a total disaster for the dev. What used to be give and take between gamers and devs is now take and take. The one and only reason I have submitted any bug reports or helped at all was the game currency that came with the purchase which i'll hopefully be able to spend once the game is finished which basically is at present worth a little more than the purchase price of the game. I'd like to see the game succeed but not to the point i'm willing to invest hours of my time helping them. In the end it's up to them as I said earlier to succeed or to fail. I think it's a terrible idea for players to pressure other players into working for free and an even worse idea for devs to pressure players. Just to be clear I haven't seen the devs here try to pressure players and i think they know they are the ones solely responsible for the outcome of this project. I think within 5 years only the most predatory game devs will still be using early access without any kind of real compensation and only the most uninformed gamers will still be buying into the insanity of buying a product on what is promised.
  15. Also I think he is referring to when chunks load and unload. By moving to the opposite side of the island the ship unloads from memory and reloads into memory when he moves back in range of the ship. I don't want to speak for him I am just relating how I interpreted what he wrote. I also must warn that I have been wrong about things a few times in the past Ships moving unintentionally is one problem I have never noticed.

    Sneak Peek #48

While I agree that playability should be the main focus I'd like to share some insight and correlations I have gained from 15 years as an industrial electrician / electronic technician. Different people have different natural talents and any kind of company has to put the talents to the best use if they want to be successful. Some people are more analytical and therefore make great troubleshooters. Some people are more creative and therefore make great designers. Some people are at their best when they are given a plan to follow. It makes no sense to take your followers and designers and throw them at troubleshooting when they can be more effective doing other jobs. As a sidebar I realize this is an oversimplification. I'm frustrated as well at not being able to play Ylands right now but as consumers there is nothing we can do besides make suggestions because they control what and how much talent is available to them and how they use it, not us. I watch the forums for news and make suggestions and report the bugs that affect me the most and then I go and be happy playing games that already work. At some point the will either succeed with Ylands or fail and we as consumers can't control that. Personally I hope they prevail.
  18. yes I believe it is part of the 0.7 update along with a few other new random sets.
  19. Let me ask you this. Please play a full single player exploration game all the way until you discover all of the possible islands, build ships, build a base do all the things associated with playing the single player explore as the game exists in its current iteration. Come back in a next week and If you can say you have done that and had no problems at all I would suggest uploading your save game to the devs as well so that they can maybe compare mine to yours and maybe find out what is different. I know the game worked in the past because I watched keralis' whole let's play in fact it's the only reason I bought an early access game (note that playthrough was before 0.7). My main point of this particular thread was not to report a problem that I already reported in the appropriate forum but to discuss other people's experience in playing it recently, after updates and hotfixes. Why? To see if there is a common thread, a commonality between playstyles or things we have done in the game that may be at the root of the problem. If if five or ten people posted here "yeah I just finished a total playthrough in single player explore mode after the last update and hotfixes and had no problems at all." I would say yeah I must be doing something wrong, but that hasn't happened. Myself and 1 other person related a recent experience and both experiences were similar. I'd love to hear positive ones as well. Assuming that I checked the wrong drive is not helpful at all. Even in MP mode which most posts have been about people are saying the experience is becoming worse after the latest update and hotfixes. The only thing i'm not seeing huge issues with is the Edit mode.
  20. Just because it doesn't hurt to check I did and chkdsk found no bad sectors. But I do disagree software that doesn't play nice can most certainly harm your system by overuse which causes wear on moving parts mainly hard drives when it comes to moving parts. Also software can harm electronics as well, not so much by heat in and of itself from overuse. The harm comes from repeated heating and cooling because of the expansion and contraction the differences in temperature cause. The more times you stress things the more likely they are to malfunction. Basically what i'm saying is that things wear out and if they are overused they will wear out faster and im not willing to let my HD die faster than it needs to. If you were to say Well behaved software won't destroy you're hardware faster than the normal life expectancy of the hardware I'd agree 100%. But this is getting out of the context of YLands so I won't bore people with examples.
  21. I was able to restore the last save game out of my trash bin but you guys don't allow drag and drop of save game files so i added .txt at the end. And just to add some perspective here the time it took to upload the file to you guys was considerably shorter than it was to actually save and exit the game. DUNHAM.ylandsgame.txt
  22. The issue is exactly the same as the one I previously reported and you guys already have the log files. As far as save games go, i've deleted ylands for the time being, as well as all related files so I don't get tempted into destroying my hard drive by continuing to play until i see that the issues have been resolved.

More uses for resin, sticks, etc

I use gravel to make piers. works best facing north. Nice cause it shows up on the map but it may not show up after the next update when they change the map for MP.
