The other survival games you see have conflict and although some have nifty graphics, the 1st person view is offputting...i want to see more than just my hand. Ok, there are predators and such in Ylands but you dont have to scorch burn and strip an island ...you can live with and around them ... and the weather is rather realistic ...thunderstorms are actually scary! You can be creative , you have to learn, and also organize priorities.... to me ahead. You can also interact with other players in MP and thats cool! And although the graphics are low poly, they are actually quite neat and attractive and some scenes are very beautiful and you can capture some very artistic moments. yes there are glitches, and stuff, but its getting better... and its got to be worth sticking with it to see what the future holds..

As i said, there were more but i didnt consider discussing them as they are beyond my daily usage requirements! ... hubby spouts off a lot of terms ... inverters, comparators , timers etc etc etc ...i just pour the coffee, nod and nom nom nom on a donut! All electrical components contain smoke ...if you let the smoke escape, they stop working!

Boolean might not be the correct term,... after all we do lose grey matter with age.. and sometimes life is just plain confusing when standing outside the bathroom doo,r pondering... " have i been or do i need to go? " But i am thinking along the terms of electronics, and IC chips ... "And" gates ...require both inputs to receive a signal to produce an output .. they can combine inputs of energy but if one input stops/fails , the output stops "Nand" gates ( negative and) require both inputs active to turn off the output " Or" gates require an signal at either input ( or both ) to produce an output They can combine signals , as in Ylands energy cases..... they can channel energy from different generators into a single energy stream to power multiple devices " nor" ( negative or gates) require a signal at either or both inputs to turn off the output. There are other ones too, but to bring them into this discussion simply adds complexity and useless information ..which I can excel in This comes from living with someone who builds electronic controllers for a model railroad and leaves burn marks on the carpet and kitchen table from dropped hot soldering irons! But he is a handyman ... he's handy when you need him ( will not elaborate any further....)

@clinter ..if you are after a dedicated server where they don't tolerate the destructive kiddies and feeble minded shoot-em-up idiots, and you like to create and explore and co-operate.....contact baz foobar...or look for his server when it comes up on line after 0.8 update. -

A lot of the servers need a reset as they have been allowed to deteriorate gamewise due to the expected update and its necessary fixes/promises. Its like owning a car ... if you are about to sell it or trade it in on a new car, you don't spend money on unnecessary repairs on it as you will not get any benefits... wait for the new car. Same with gamers .. its no use creating something and spending a lot of time and data usage only to know it will be useless and wiped in a few days. Whats worrying at the moment is that where i am its approaching the Easter holiday season, with useless boring TV programs about rabbits and other cartoon characters "saving Easter", or long sessions of religious leaders parading around in fancy clothing .... or sport replays. Computer games are a way of maintaining sanity, especially if the weekend weather is predicted to be wet and nasty. If theres no update before then, well, expect the servers to deteriorate more quickly .. and frustrated gamers go elsewhere, meaning even more servers going offline. So until the update, don't expect to find anything decent to play on. If theres no update, expect the servers to get fewer players, mope dedicated ones to disappear opting to go elsewhere. I have been enjoying playing on the same server as bojo, and a group of us have formed a co-operative community ...we work together, no griefing, and when there is a disaster/glitch...rally to rescue the unfortunate player. Sadly, with the 0.7 version there's more rescue than explore/create. We look forward to 0.8 restoring the explore/gamers experience. The sooner the better, as gamers are an impatient breed and will move on if they cannot enjoy what they seek. Our dedicated server operator has wisely decided to keep his server down and prepare for the update .. so we will start with a "brave new exciting world". if the update takes too long ...well ...? there goes the community ... Hopefully this will not happen and you would be welcome to join our fun group on a server run by an admin who doesn't put up with kiddies who go around destroying things ...like the one we had last night. It actually provided us with fun, as this persistent griefer was trying to board boats, set them in motion then jump of and do the same to others. the admin solved the issue by placing Guard mutant bears on the boats and filling the water around them with sharks to deter un-welcome boarders. We enjoyed watching from a distance the sharks and bears having a feast of griefers.... nether the less , we dont expect this to happen on this server when 0.8 starts up.. but it was fun ti watch -
well, its obvious we are not there yet....... ( said in jest ..and not as a criticism.... if it fixes MP issues, its needed, as MP can get quite unplayable at the moment... more time is spent rescuing players who lose things through disconnects, lag and ship glitches than in explore off to sit in a corner and sulk as there's no use playing the current version .......)

Maffs... adding wun plus wun and getting something more .. it was probably called something else... these days they have to have simpler names so the young uns unnerstand We used to do skipping in my days ..now its called " jump rope" ...

"or" is either or both inputs to combine into one output. connect 2 turbines through one "or" ..then the same with another 2 turbines.... then connect the output of those "or" gates to the inputs of another. " or" gate ..prestop ...you final output from this "or" is the total of the 4 turbines! an "and" gate means bothits inputs must have a "on" to produce an output. Its that boolean thing we learned in maths..

With the advent of 0.8, we have decided there will be a new game etc so all building has stopped. We have been testing on Baz Foobars DS and had fun, noted issues and worked out whats the best in 0.8 restart So i am sharing with you here some pictures of my experimantal base constructed on a small island off the mainland. Pic 1 is of the causeway built to link the island to the mainland....its wide enough ( just) for vehicles to navigate Pic 2 is of the building, dock and the navigation lighthouse... necessary as there are shoals nearby Pic 3 is a view of the base .. its 4 storys tall and the top floor pouts your avatars head about 2 blocks under the height of the protection barrier limit . great view, but scary in thunderstorms Pic 4 is overlooking the gardens and orchards etc from a nearby grassy knoll pic 5 is of the same area, different direction and from the 2nd highest ballcony Overall i gleaned some great ideas for the main build when 0.8 rolls out.

when i harvest trees i do the following housekeeping a) pick up everything, logs bark seeds resin pieces and sticks b) destroy the tree stump c) pant the seeds ..one where the stump was the other 2 were you think it would help ...ie closer t your base or on a open bare spot. d) wood pieces are useful for engines, smelters forges stoves.... if you already have too many sticks, break them into wood pieces and store in a container near your base ... doesn't have to be secure or lockable as they are just common wood pieces! e) resin... if you have already too much, destroy it Mining : after depleting a shallow deposit, fill it in with dirt and use a shovel to smooth it over If a deep deposit ..place a cover over the pit near the surface, ie a stone panel, cover it with soil and plant grass/or other flora It also pays to cull wild animals such as boars ... they get to stages where they just sit there using up memory ... and creating lag . They make good food :-) Piles of dirt : use to fill holes or to place in shallow water and smooth over to make a great accessible resource area ... for cotton agave, rubber bananas corn etc plantation or you can build a small island off your base, plant it with several humongous trees close together and use it as a navigation reference point. Beached or sharkanado sharks .... if possible covert them to food ..otherwise they sit there using memory etc and increase lag. Build simply to avoid lag .. the more components used the greater the lag generated.... use large single blocks or stone panels rather than a mess of smaller ones.

yes ane, in MP .... I resorted to building a huge glass cage around the control area .... and if i don't put a roof on it i can bounce over the sides ... ( 6 window units high!) and into the water. I Can aim for the helm and move and end up near the front on the other side of the boat ... this is on the small ship hull - i haven't tried it on a large hull yet. A couple of time i have tried to jump onto my boat from a side platform and i end up bouncing back where i started ..! ------ Also climbing the ladders after swimming back from being tossed out of the ship, i get stuck in the swimming animation on the deck ... a tap on the space key fixes it ...it can also happen some times when swimming onto land ... you swim up the beach! Again a tap on the space key fixes it. -
A different range of hulls would be great .... some lower or with flatter keels ... and maybe a bit wider. The current curved shape that bows out in the middle is not really conducive to building on... perhaps straighter sides ?

Having been the victim of a griefer, i now keep everything worthwhile under lock and key I had just crafted a small sail boat for "close shore" inspection... and was inside my base crafting some back up tools ( they don't make hammers like they used too! ) ..suddenly i saw this guy at the side of my base, near where the previous griefer had found a way to gain access. He must have seen me through the window and he took off running around the outside of my base. I ran to my front door and prepared to confront this person, if necessary, but to my amazement he headed straight to my new sailboat and jumped in, and took off with it! By the time i unlocked the door and got outside he was too far away. Ok so thats the rub of the green they say, but this person is now on my list of the untrustworthy. The thing is , if he had knocked and asked for help, i most likely would have offered him some form of help and perhaps given him a few things. Now he is on the list of people who, should i see them being mauled by a bear, i will simply craft a chair and popcorn, and sit and watch!
