Crowbar for removing blocks after they've hardened/ been placed
WijkagentAdrie replied to Seraphaestus's question in Suggestions & Feedback
The game already logs what blocks are placed by who I believe. I think that every player should have the ability to pick up/destroy the blocks they placed themselves, all over the world. All blocks not being placed on a ship or car, or within a shield generator should be destroyable. The only thing that I'm still doubting is what happens if people place blocks around your shield generator, or make ugly crappy things all over the island in general, and then leave the server. Should all blocks placed outside generators, cars and ships be able for pick up by anyone? I think this is a discussion that's ongoing with the developers as well as it's hard to work out. What if players/griefers harden a massive stone wall right in front of your door? Or just ugly stone piles all over the island? -
RESOLVED Bugs - stucking into walls, levitating objects, problems with aiming and plants/trees NOT BEING THERE.
WijkagentAdrie replied to ComR's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Heya! To get hay you should pick up dried/withered plants. Bird nests also give hay but since they constantly respawn eggs and feathers I wouldn't pick those up! You could always load your game up in the editor, double click your boat, and set the rotation values to 0 And then go back to your games and continue your game with your boat now being upright again. @Aleš Ulm Has the walking height recently changed? I'm quite convinced that this used to be different. Previous to 0.6 I could normally walk around on my ships with a 5 block high ceiling, now I can only sometimes force myself in. In first person this makes my boat go completely crazy. -
She's beautiful! Well done

This would be a nice central topic on building in general I've made a short guide on examples how to use freeplace mode which can be useful as well: I didn't know about the ctrl+WASD yet, sounds like it's very useful! Adrie

Skeletons, skulls, bones, dead bodies, gutting and death animations...
WijkagentAdrie replied to ComR's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Heya! Up until 2 updates ago there used to be corpses, bones and skulls! However this causes the age rating of Ylands to be significantly higher in certain markets/countries. As the game is meant to be family friendly those have been taken out. I do agree that they were nice to have, I'd usually make a "vanitas" corner somewhere in my house -
[Suggestion] Alternative to Endless World : Devil's Triangle & World Compass
WijkagentAdrie replied to Quimerse's question in Suggestions & Feedback
At first when reading the title I thought "no, this game needs one massive world". Then I realized that say after a month, if a new player joins, he will have to sail over 2 hours just to find an unmolested island for himself to settle. This could actually be a solution to that, some form of teleporting/warping to different worlds. This could greatly decrease distances (although I feel that some sailing should still be necessary!), and make it possible to have loads of islands and resources. Another intermediate solution would be to have an infinite world with some kind of teleporters. -

Sweet, can't wait! Also be sure to share some more exterior pictures, the door area looks interesting but I can't really see it now. And some pictures a little bit further away to get a good global view is always nice as well -
Ships build able on dry land.
WijkagentAdrie replied to Silwercastle's question in Suggestions & Feedback
In the first post you can see a trick I use with small boats to work around the problem of moving boats! I place it on freeplaced beams over the water, and after I'm done building I simply pick up the beams Larger ships have anchor levers and don't really need this trick. -
Large Ship Width OCD (DEV/Design Team)
WijkagentAdrie replied to SpartanLand's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah sails could be 3x3 and 5x3 as well. Although I also like to have 4 wide doors since my windows are usually 4 wide as well. Also fix the way the default ladders are attached, they are not symmetrical. (The small ship ladders are actually even worse) -
Weight doesn't impact the ship speed at all! I also tested this and it will be in the video Other things that don't matter are for example the direction of the sails. You can place the sails upside down, sideways, flat etc., it all won't matter!
-
You can switch between normal placing and freeplacing with the V button There's no grid/snapping so it's quite tedious to make large structures that way!

I can confirm all of this, yes you can mount it on vehicles (I highly recommend putting it on a car as it's a mobile destruction device ) and it does fix all your problems in general, including animals.
-
They are rather unforgiving yeah How did you get there? By building a stairs or did you fly up there? I usually make a cannon to get rid of the coils But be careful not to destroy the rest.
-
To be fair there's no real need to go crazy! I noticed that with about 240-320% the speeds are already very decent and usable
-
For a quick preview: Each large mast gives 100% speed, each small mast gives 60% speed. The maximum amount on a large ship is 550%, the maximum amount on a small ship is 450% So on a large ship, 5 large masts + 1 small masts (560% total) is the max, on the small ship 4 large masts + 1 small mast (460%) is the maximum! The direction of placement doesn't matter.
-
Heya! I'm almost done recording my first youtube video on ship speed! The ship speed is based on the amount of sails you put on the ship In my video I will explain how much masts will give you how much speed.

Looks cool! Have you got any interior pictures screenshots? -
Heya! These are fairly common, or at least easy to find The things on top are pretty dangerous, and will kill you if you get near! There's usually some treasure inside There's multiple ways to get to it, and there's multiple ways to get the treasure out. If you need any more hints feel free to ask!

RESOLVED [YLD-7979] Ship not moving forward
WijkagentAdrie replied to Silwercastle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Currently ships have more "power" when sailing backwards, since you usually get stuck when sailing it forward. You can try to sail it backwards with a large turn to get it out to the open sea. Another option is to dig it out which could take you some time unfortunately. A 3rd option you could try is to make another ship hull and try to ram/push it out backwards (that is, sail backwards in the shallow waters with the new ship). I recommend using a small ship as I believe it's not only smaller but also not as deep as the large hull, but I'm not entirely sure. At least it's cheaper to use. And finally my last option would be to use more sails on your ship. 1 sail is incredibly slow. Maybe adding 2 large sails could give you enough power to get it going -
RESOLVED URGENT: Ylands.exe logs privacy sensitive information
WijkagentAdrie replied to Skully71's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Should/can we take our old logs we uploaded offline? As in, have you guys got a backup of them so you can fix the problems? -
This idea has got my attention as well, I never used linux but all I know is I pay quite a few € a month now just to have windows, so if Linux is cheaper/free then that would be more than welcome!

How many islands can you find in a single game?
WijkagentAdrie replied to marcosgijon's topic in General Discussion
More like that as soon as you go to the edge of the map, new islands will be generated. This for example happens in minecraft world generation, where the world is generated as you go, not the first time you create the world. This way minecraft maps can be nearly infinite big, solving the problem of running out of certain resources. -
Heya! Have you had a good look around the coast? I usually find loads of them! Sometimes they even look like sand or dirt, just try to dig them If the spawn island is indeed empty be sure to move to another island! I recommend this anyway as griefers rarely take the time to go there. The easiest way to go there is to make a wooden or a bamboo raft (some logs or pieces of bamboo + ropes) and take some food for your trip! Adrie

I believe it's already hinted/confirmed that players will spawn with a semi complete barrier, which only needs a few parts to become operational. Any additional barriers are quite expensive to craft to limit the amount everyone will have.
