    Dev Diary #35

Starting over is a main feature of the game. But when we have blueprints, maybe that will expidite things. Nah, I like that they are all different. I just don't know how much effort I want to put into building my own home.

    A new beginning

That picture made me wonder if a functioning bunkbed could be made. I did get one that my avatar could sleep on either level, but I'd have to try it in MP to see if it could be used by two. Interesting.

    Welcome Stations

@kimbuck and I built a couple of welcome stations on two different biomes. These are basic shelters and resources available to anyone in our game. We planted useful things and stocked baskets with needed items. I really like how they turned out.

    Welcome Stations

I went on to another random server (Explore NA 45 and built a welcome station near spawn. It's a fun little project that can be completed in an evening. Because I don't intend on playing this server, I set it all up with my barrier so the items can't be griefed. I suppose the plants could but that wouldn't be the end of the world.

    Playing the game fairly

I was going to go back to spawn, but there is an extensive base set up there that the owner has left available to other players. So I probly won't.
  6. Hammocks. Seriously, why isn't this a thing already? And more things crafted from coconuts. Did the devs never see Gilligan's Island?

You Know What This Game Really Needs?

Coconut cream pie. I mean, it was MaryAnne's specialty. And sequined gowns.

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

Looks like it needs 10 cloth. Not so bad if you are a sisel farmer.

If you don't need to, don't kill all the mutants. If we leave a few there will be more for all.

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

If you want a fun group to play with, @kimbuck and a few others and I all play cooperatively. It is fun and not as much issues with PVP.

    Teepees are craftable?

I wish barriers where moveable. We get given a broken one, then have to craft to repair. How about another crafting effort that would make it moveable. Even if it was pretty expensive/ hard to do.

    Another funny screenshot thread...

I am magic, what can I say?

What are your Early Game construction priorities?

I don't know about others, but I die a lot in early game due to predators. First I start gathering grass, sticks, rocks, flint (you need at least three) and food. I tend to head to the high ground first to get a good look. I craft stone ax, stone pic, grass clothing. After I look at the island from the hills, I will try to get down to the shore and work my way around. I think it's important to get a map as soon as you can. I gather clay, iron, flint, grass. I will look for other bases set up. If I can craft better weapons I will do so. And I don't spend a ton of time on spawn island. As soon as I can I will build a raft with a couple of wicker baskets. If I am able to upgrade my weapons and tools at a borrowed workstation, I will craft herb pouch, seed box, soil box and coal bucket. And I generally always carry those always. I don't mess about with flax or cotton in the beginning. Trying to build your boat with those takes for.ev.er... I am the sisel queen. I try to get sisel agave as soon as possible. I tend to like to build on the arid biome. But in any place I build, I am looking for someplace I can dig into. I also want deep water for my ship. I tend to make hobbit holes for my work stations. I dig deep in the protected area, this allows me to be safe from griefers. And it is quick. I build my ship and THEN worry about a house. Once you have your ship, it opens up the whole world for adventuring and getting resources.

So will there be dedicated servers that are specifically PvE? This will be a welcome addition.

    a couple map-related thoughts

Also a mark at your loot when you die.

Combination Locks work better than Keys, get rid of keys

If combo worked on doors I would use it. Glitches do happen with keys. Also combo locks are useful in cooperative play.

    a couple map-related thoughts

I would like to have the compass available in regular screens. It could be a crafted item?
  21. The cursor only seems to loosely indicate where your avatar is looking.
  22. This. Planting nicely is difficult / imposssible. The cursor in general is basically useless as is.
  23. bojo2736

    How did the barrier worked?

Stealing is possible inside barriers if not secured in some way. They shouldn't be able to kill your avatar when you are offline. You can still die. Starvation is one way. The barrier does not protect you against attack when you are online.
