    Hi,

I am trying to run a Ylands server using the latest server file V2.5 and the server instantly closes when it goes to boot it after installing.

What is this 2.5? Ylands version is 0.8 and the server is the same.

I am wondering if you used a script by someone... if thats the case, better let them know.

anyway here is the error: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path "C:\ylands\SaveGames\ONYX-1.ylandsgame"

Simply put it's looking for the save file, but can't find the file or directory, double check to see if it's there, since it can't find it, it quits.

  2. Interesting, yet annoying when someone steals other peoples work...

Looking at the picture, the health bars look like they have been copied pasted in, or a very bad design job..

the Directional touch stick on the right, should be on the left, unless you're left handed.. this would be difficult to play..

the buttons seem to be ripped from a xbox layout... bleh

Last update: December 26, 2017 < this one is not listed on google play, but might have different name

And on an unofficial site which i would not trust to touch or download... however, just a brief search on play store brings up this

"Your lands of dreams" which was last updated 22nd Dec 17 < also a direct rip off, listed

Both haven't been updated since last year, which would mean lots of issues unresolved...

Advice for anyone curious about these "apps" that are not on google play, do not download or attempt to play them, you do not know what they are doing

in the background, collecting data or possibly infecting the phone in some way. Its not worth the risk.  Same applies if they are on google play or apple equivalent don't support them by not downloading them.

  3. Hmm

I believe that due to the 0.7 MP/DS issues it hurt the community quite a bit, now that 0.8 is out, and is running really nicely, its what we should of had in 0.7.

It will take some time to get people back in the game, however people need to be informed of such fixes in order for them to come back and try it out,

they won't come back by themselves, unless they have stuck it out like the active people here have.

I'm no PR/HR/marketing person, but if the team wants more players playing their game, they need to promote/spread the game through various channels, however

you don't to do that if you have a game with game breaking bugs, which 0.7 introduced... hopefully with 0.8 they can turn that around.

naturally if you're a supporter of the game you can chose to spread the news about the game through social networks and forums, every bit helps.

Also  I've seen many "dying" threads in many games before, where the active/playing community shrugs it off, and and any new potential players on the forums and

see's this and thinks "whoa... maybe i should rethink about this game" a better title would have a good choice, but no human is perfect.

  4. Well done team, nice set of fixes you have there! im impressed.

Been running the DS for 30mins now and i have been playing, the gameplay is smooth and great, no hickups/stuttering/micro lagg/pauses (yet), 0.8 seems to be MP's savoir for now.

will have to test for longer, but so far no problems.

@kimbuck Steam was down before i logged on today 30mins ago.. update was there for me, might have something to do with steam being down.

  5. Why do i get the feeling they are trying to phase out the DS? all i could see is back peddling.. but that's my opinion. (yes I'm salty over 0.7 MP/DS issues.. deal with it)

hmm i have a few opinions on this..

As a DS operator, cloud save system is basically just a locked DS Server essentially... lock it up and basically you have the same system, except its available 24/7, doesn't rely on p2p systems, and lagg from p2p is a non issue.. (p2p = peer to peer), because not everyone has a stable internet connection... and this cloud system would run on this system.

from my perspective, MP/DS systems need to be worked on first, then aux systems... this just creates more work in my opinion is redundant.

sure it provides more ways to play, but the DS system in place can already do this with a bit of config, which then comes into, fixing the original systems in place in the first place so that these extra systems would not be needed..

such as working on a linux distro, cutting down costs of running a DS.. significantly.. not saying you can't do this already with hosted services.. but cost/config seems to be factor here currently, fixing these would solve the need for the above.

  6. Great idea in theory, would crash the game in practice.

Might work for SP, however in MP/DS Games this would cause untold amounts of lagg.. as a DS Operator i don't want to deal with that nightmare, not until everything is fixed MP side.

Coming from MP side, since the game is ideally wanting to be tuned for 8~10 players, having seamless worlds doesn't make sense, if you went exploring, you probably never see anyone again..making it effectively a SP game..

having 8~10 players with around 12 islands is probably the sweet spot in this case.

There has been talk making the edges of world teleport you to the opposite end of the map when you cross them, which would work quite well i think

  7. This comes back to what i originally said to the devs.. but was brushed off..

The save file cannot hold everything.. this in turn will cause lagg.. shoving everyone's characters, items spawn, world data, in a file will cause issues...

From experience running servers any file that goes over the 20MB mark tends to start slowing down servers and lagg starts at regular intervals..

I personally think not having shoved into a single save will solve some lagg issues... having separate files for characters and accounts and world data, would probably improve things.

lessen the size of the save file overall, probably to only a few MB's.. thus making it a non issue..  also less need for using the editor for changing things, less server downtime..

But I'll get brushed off again by the dev's... they wont even trial it...

  8. As a DS operator, I also agree, this game is not ready for EA > Release. I can only really speak from a DS/MP perspective, as 99% my time is spent on it, 1% in editor for "maintenance".

There is far too many problems with the DS/MP still, i do not believe, based on the release cycle currently (~1month between patches) that all these bugs will be squashed by the projected 1.0 release.

From what i heard 1.0 was slated for August, however it's march now around ~5months, and based on whats in the releases forum, this make releases approx 1.5~2month cycles currently

  9. As far as i know EA (Early Access) i supposed to be the MP testing and fixing phase.. sure 0.7 hasn't been the best patch (probably the worst so far for mp),  but hopefully by 1.0 this will be a non issue.

I also have my doubts at this rate that everything will be fleshed out by 1.0 ... the game seems soo... SP focused... more bias for SP.... even though SP is technically done.
