Ability to change crafting recipes

I would love to be able to set a custom crafting recipe for any item in game (including stuff that you cant craft, example sea urchin).

I would also love to be able to weld items together and then setup a crafting recipe for that newly created item. 

I would love to be able to set properties for these new items such as edible, unique etc. or copy attributes from other items such as a key. 

I would love to set some of these welded entities as craft benches or required items to craft other items.

Neat idea.

I wonder if they could implement it almost like the Entity Template, but extended to be able to specify ingredients and needed tools, and make it show up in the crafting screen, maybe under a custom crafting group.  Kind of a Crafting Template.

If it's a good idea, it would save a lot of work.
I have my little machine to create toys and some other things, but the programming is long?
