The money had been transferred a week ago. Should be with you for some time now. -
What happened to this great game?
Adam Snellgrove replied to Brett1234's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Well I have tried to address this in a few of the latest Dev Diaries: Explore isn't going anywhere. In fact all the big features now being added before final release and with final release will be especially Explore orientated. We have added other aspects to the game, because we have greater plans for Ylands than just being another survival game, but Explore will stay at the core of Ylands with all other features first being tested and implemented into Explore. We have decided not to add Explore into the Mobile version, because we didn't want to compromise Explore for the sake of the Mobile platform. We want it to be the big sprawling map with many secrets and enemies to fight instead something watered down for the Mobile community at the expense of our PC community. As with bugs, I have mentioned before, that there was a communication problem in the past, but I hope with me coming on board this has disappeared, since I try and answer all questions and feedback and follow up on bugs. Bugs are another big aspect we're concentrating now before release, as we are cleaning up and fixing everything up before release. There's more info here about Bugs and Explore: https://ylands.com/community/topic/25354-dev-diary-93/ https://ylands.com/community/topic/25565-dev-diary-95/ https://ylands.com/community/topic/25672-dev-diary-96/ Also look out for tomorrows Dev Diary, where we'll discuss other new features coming into Explore. Hope this has answered some of your worries and that you'll give us your vote of confidence in the future. And thank you for writing in, because we do care about any Feedback and Ylands thrives on feedback from our loyal players. Without it Ylands wouldn't be the game it is today ? -

RESOLVED [YLD-11416] Servers grow in lag, crash, freeze, require wipe
Adam Snellgrove replied to RedEagle_P1.'s question in Bugs & Technical Issues
@bojo2736 I actually have some news on this! So the team found out (and this will sound bizarre), that the nr. 1 reason the servers grew slower and slower was, that animals fell through the ground sometimes and tried to find a way back up, but they couldn't. And the more animals fell through, the more animals were trying to find their way up again, which put considerable strain on the servers. Now we are fixing it and it should be part of the next bigger update. Hopefully, this will increase server survivability considerably, but it'll be a case of looking for the next big thing, that slows down servers when this gets fixed. -
RESOLVED [YLD-18675] Stuck on the "Recalling Buildings 100%" element
Adam Snellgrove replied to Adam Snellgrove's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
output_log file and output_log_clean, you can find them in the directory \Program Files(86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ylands\Ylands_Data But they have to be extracted after the unsuccessful login, because every time you restart the game, the output_logs start from the beginning. Let me know if you found them. -
And I am following up on this (but it'll probably just be another 'working on optimalization' answer ? but I heard they are making quite some progress in this, so hopefully soon we'll see a lot of these problems falling away).

I am already planning a competition for this, but maybe in a couple of weeks, we have our hands quite full right now ? -
Contest Mobile Game Creation Drive
Adam Snellgrove replied to Adam Snellgrove's topic in General Discussion
We are working on that and should be fixed in a couple of weeks. We are working on long term solutions, that will serve us even after release. -

Adam Snellgrove replied to Harry Pines's question in Suggestions & Feedback
I updated the name with all the issues reported here and I am following it up to see, what has been done about it. -
Oh okay. I'll make a forum post about it anyway, so we can track it better ? EDIT: I have updated a previous topic with all the relevant bug codes, so you can remind me there again, if it takes too long (but I have reminded the team about this and hopefully something will get done in the coming weeks/months).

RESOLVED [YLD-18675] Stuck on the "Recalling Buildings 100%" element
Adam Snellgrove replied to Adam Snellgrove's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Great stuff. As soon as we get the output_logs, we'll get right on it, because this is a very disturbing bug that we can't replicate ? -
RESOLVED [YLD-18675] Stuck on the "Recalling Buildings 100%" element
Adam Snellgrove replied to Adam Snellgrove's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
So I asked @Berzeger and we really do need those logs from the server itself. So when it doesn't let you in, could you please ask your mate to then send in the output_logs? Because it is not about the player who can't get in, but an issue with the server, so we'd need to get output_logs from the 'inside' when it happens. This would help us incredibly. -
RESOLVED [YLD-19181] Funky Comps

Looking into it ? -
Sorry, which issue specifically was this? Ideally the forum link and I'll find out, what the progress is on this ?

Contest Building Contest #1 - Winners
Adam Snellgrove replied to Adam Snellgrove's topic in General Discussion
Sure thing, if it's not too drastic ? -
True, but I was more thinking of cases, where someone makes a spectacular castle (or something similar) for other players, but then it disappears because he doesn't log in. Or when you build something together (which usually I guess wouldn't go in the barrier) half of it would then potentially decay. But we're not ruling it out completely, just have to figure out the best way to make our servers survive as long as possible ?
-
I've talked to Aleš about it and the problem would be, if two players collaborated on something, but then one stopped playing, parts of the building or construction would decay while others would not, which wouldn't seem fair and also if a Creator made something magnificent for other players and then left, It'd be a shame, if it got destroyed over time. But it has gotten our brain juices running and we'll try and think of an alternative, that could help in this regard ?

Any news on mini-updates?
Adam Snellgrove replied to RedEagle_P1.'s question in Suggestions & Feedback
There will hopefully be a small update later this week with some fixes ? -
That's a great idea! I'll pitch it to Aleš ?
-
So we are going to redo the whole website in the run-up to the release, so it might take some time, but it should be there after release ?
-
I'll look into this. It'd be good to get better results.

Every week we'll bring you an Ynterview with a member of our Ylands team. In this week's Ynterview we have approached our Gameplay Programmer: Filip Vondrášek. First off, what do you do here at the Ylands team and what’d you do before you joined? I’m officially a gameplay programmer, although my area for the past year or two has mostly been collaborating with our backend guys to bring all of their online services (such as the in-game chat and friends system) to Ylands. I also share some responsibilities for our mastering process, i.e. building new versions, both public and internal, pushing them to Steam etc. But first and foremost, I’m a programmer. Before joining Bohemia Interactive and Ylands in 2015, I was studying Czech Technical University and working in a company that creates and supplies hardware and software for gas stations. As a programmer, of course. How long have you worked on Ylands? What was the 1st thing you worked on when you joined? I’ve been here for 4 years. The first thing I worked on, if my memory serves me well, was Energy. What do you find most exciting on Ylands in general? Since we released our in-game editor, I’ve been nothing but amazed by all the creations that players make. Some of them leave me scratching my head and wondering: “Wait, is that even possible?” And what is for you the most exciting feature coming in the near future? I’m most excited for the Explore improvements. For me, it was one of the two main game modes when I joined Ylands and it’s still dear to my heart. What are you working on right now? Right now I’m working on some armour and blueprint improvements. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk about specific changes, so let’s leave it at that! What was the most difficult thing to implement to date and what will be in the future? For me personally, the most difficult thing to implement was probably Blueprints. It took a surprising amount of time to wire it in and there were a lot of unexpected problems, even things that are seemingly simple, such as GUI previews. But I think the most complicated thing to implement is AI. Three programmers gradually tried to implement their version of AI, but we still weren’t getting satisfying results (until the last update). Implementing pathfinding in a dynamic world where everything can change is especially difficult. In the future, for me personally improving blueprints will be the most difficult thing. I always remember how much fun I had with the initial implementation. I also can’t forget how I accidentally deleted about 4 hours of my Blueprints work before sending it to our code repository. I had to leave the office for half an hour and breathe it out. What do you do in your free time? I am an avid gamer and I really enjoy programming. So, usually, when I’m not playing something, I program stuff that I find enjoyable at the moment. Last month, I implemented a simple raytracer in C++, because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Is there a better way to get to know something than to try to create it? What Ice-cream flavour do you like most? Vanilla, chocolate, lemon, chicken, wasabi or tears of your enemies? I’d say mint, but since there isn’t mint in that list, then I’d say lemon and I would love to try a wasabi flavour. Spiced with the tears of my enemies.

And how far we are now ? So close to release! And also hope you're doing well Smootheynos and come back soon ?

Sorry for the delay, but we are trying to figure out some details for a potential surprise, so the announcement of the winners will come tomorrow. Just building the tension a bit ? But hopefully, It'll be worth it!
