UNDER REVIEW [YLD-18643] Too many friend requests?

The output_logs would be greatly appreciated if this happens again, because we can't replicate it (and we keep sending each other Friend Requests ?)
  2. Great stuff. As soon as we get the output_logs, we'll get right on it, because this is a very disturbing bug that we can't replicate ?
  3. So I asked @Berzeger and we really do need those logs from the server itself. So when it doesn't let you in, could you please ask your mate to then send in the output_logs? Because it is not about the player who can't get in, but an issue with the server, so we'd need to get output_logs from the 'inside' when it happens. This would help us incredibly.

Sorry, which issue specifically was this? Ideally the forum link and I'll find out, what the progress is on this ?

Contest Building Contest #1 - Winners

Sure thing, if it's not too drastic ?

    Building optimization

True, but I was more thinking of cases, where someone makes a spectacular castle (or something similar) for other players, but then it disappears because he doesn't log in. Or when you build something together (which usually I guess wouldn't go in the barrier) half of it would then potentially decay. But we're not ruling it out completely, just have to figure out the best way to make our servers survive as long as possible ?

What other games do you play?

I've talked to Aleš about it and the problem would be, if two players collaborated on something, but then one stopped playing, parts of the building or construction would decay while others would not, which wouldn't seem fair and also if a Creator made something magnificent for other players and then left, It'd be a shame, if it got destroyed over time. But it has gotten our brain juices running and we'll try and think of an alternative, that could help in this regard ?

    Any news on mini-updates?

There will hopefully be a small update later this week with some fixes ?

So we are going to redo the whole website in the run-up to the release, so it might take some time, but it should be there after release ?

I'll look into this. It'd be good to get better results.

UNDER REVIEW [YLD-19169] Video freeze and only audio

@Aven Da Vinci I am having the following issue: when specifically in multiplayer, I can play for some time, even perhaps an hour or two, then the game seems to corrupt. The game video freezes while the audio continues, I can even hear other players walking around me. After this happens it is often the case that when I try to relaunch the game and load into that game (as the host or not) I can look around a bit, then it freezes or crashes. output_log_clean.txt output_log.txt
  15. I am merging this bug into a separate topic.
  16. I'm sorry you didn't get a response before, but I'd definitely respond to you ? If you ever feel like sending in the output_logs anyway, we'd greatly appreciate it and it'd help us get this crashing business sorted. And I'm not quite sure about the poly change, but there hasn't been a drastic change in graphics in months. Or is it low performance, that is the problem? I didn't quite catch that part. In the next few weeks we'll be making a lot of improvements and additions to Explore (as discussed in last three Dev Diaries) and I'm sure Creators will be making a ton of games for Single Players too ? So stay tuned for that, maybe you'll come to like Ylands once more. I definitely hope so ? And don't ever hesitate to send in your questions, bugs and concerns. That's how we make this game better and people like you helped us a lot in the and will again in the future ?

    Interview Ynterview #6 - Filip

Every week we'll bring you an Ynterview with a member of our Ylands team. In this week's Ynterview we have approached our Gameplay Programmer: Filip Vondrášek. First off, what do you do here at the Ylands team and what’d you do before you joined? I’m officially a gameplay programmer, although my area for the past year or two has mostly been collaborating with our backend guys to bring all of their online services (such as the in-game chat and friends system) to Ylands. I also share some responsibilities for our mastering process, i.e. building new versions, both public and internal, pushing them to Steam etc. But first and foremost, I’m a programmer. Before joining Bohemia Interactive and Ylands in 2015, I was studying Czech Technical University and working in a company that creates and supplies hardware and software for gas stations. As a programmer, of course. How long have you worked on Ylands? What was the 1st thing you worked on when you joined? I’ve been here for 4 years. The first thing I worked on, if my memory serves me well, was Energy. What do you find most exciting on Ylands in general? Since we released our in-game editor, I’ve been nothing but amazed by all the creations that players make. Some of them leave me scratching my head and wondering: “Wait, is that even possible?” And what is for you the most exciting feature coming in the near future? I’m most excited for the Explore improvements. For me, it was one of the two main game modes when I joined Ylands and it’s still dear to my heart. What are you working on right now? Right now I’m working on some armour and blueprint improvements. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk about specific changes, so let’s leave it at that! What was the most difficult thing to implement to date and what will be in the future? For me personally, the most difficult thing to implement was probably Blueprints. It took a surprising amount of time to wire it in and there were a lot of unexpected problems, even things that are seemingly simple, such as GUI previews. But I think the most complicated thing to implement is AI. Three programmers gradually tried to implement their version of AI, but we still weren’t getting satisfying results (until the last update). Implementing pathfinding in a dynamic world where everything can change is especially difficult. In the future, for me personally improving blueprints will be the most difficult thing. I always remember how much fun I had with the initial implementation. I also can’t forget how I accidentally deleted about 4 hours of my Blueprints work before sending it to our code repository. I had to leave the office for half an hour and breathe it out. What do you do in your free time? I am an avid gamer and I really enjoy programming. So, usually, when I’m not playing something, I program stuff that I find enjoyable at the moment. Last month, I implemented a simple raytracer in C++, because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Is there a better way to get to know something than to try to create it? What Ice-cream flavour do you like most? Vanilla, chocolate, lemon, chicken, wasabi or tears of your enemies? I’d say mint, but since there isn’t mint in that list, then I’d say lemon and I would love to try a wasabi flavour. Spiced with the tears of my enemies.

    Contest Building Contest #1

Hey there Ylanders! This week we have a very special contest for you ? This week won't be about screenshotting, but about building! Every one of you can send in one screenshot of your creation. And what creation you might ask? Well we would like you to make a nice decoration for Playlands ? Nothing huge, max size a statue of a normal-sized man. It can be anything. A small cat, an interesting art piece, statue, creature etc. And the first three? Well, they'll get a lot of Coyns (1st 6600, 2nd 4400 and 3rd 2200 Coyns) and their creations will be put permanently into Playlands with a little plaque commemorating their contribution for all eternity ? The deadline will be on Friday next week (27.09) at 10am CET. So in short: building contest to be featured in Playlands. Small (Ylander sized). Anything you can come up with. Everyone can submit one creation. Deadline 27.09. And that's it! We are really looking forward to your creations and hope you'll really let your imagination fly ? So good luck and stay classy Ylanders.

UNDER REVIEW [YLD-18313] DS can't load a savegame

So the problem seems to be (and I'm only parroting what I was told ?) that you're running the Dedicated server on a several month old version. So while our QA tester has this: [IN] [01/10 08:22:55.48] RuntimeId: 0.14.0.77918 branch=0_14_0 w env=bi:prod <no_platform>In the logs it is this: [IN] [29/09 17:27:06.70] RuntimeId: 0.13.1.73949 branch=0_13_0 env=bi:prod <no_platform> So updating the Dedicated server would be the first step. Using this command: steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir "path to your DS folder" +app_update 710560 -beta public_alpha -betapassword YlandsDsPublicAlpha651 validate +quit

Can we has a Ylands video contest?

Sure stuff, that would be great! But now we'll go back to doing screenshots for a while and keep this as another "big" contest ?
