i think this horse is showing its dislike of being a test for sailing!

    Horses

update ...transporting a failure... got horse easily onto ship, but after dismount it continued walking anim ..on the spot. doors closed and ramp raised... and when i raised anchor ...horse simply waked through the closed huge doors! .. and then jumped over the ramp door onto the loading dock ! Guess theres more work to be done there, folks! heres hoping (?) for o.15 and beyond ???

    Horses

Pictures of ss Nagalot ... horse capable (?) transporter The rear door acts as a loading ramp .. and additional doors at rear assist in resisting horses escape attempts. The area is walled off from the control / cabin areas. Horses have a tendency ( like goats) to levitate through roofs ! .. so it pays to avoid making a cover for them ... but then they can also climb over walls! Will be testing transporting a horse later today ... will post the results .. successful or otherwise

also red, those glowing rock things ..people dig around and under them as there is no explanation of what they are for ...a lot are now partly buried in deep holes....

New server: Tutorial for new players!

I have established ( along with 2 others) a base there, and we found the tutorial area clever, and helpful. Unfortunately we still get the ones who log in and sit at the beach ...and also some who prefer to steal and plunder ...but then, thats normal for all worlds ...including real ones!

    Horses

Red..i have built a horse transport ship on your new eu server...it has a stern loading ramp ... later today ( when i can get online) you might want to drop by and we test it out ;0 We can post pics of the outcome and design here
  7. I tried a few other mp servers other than P1 gaming .. and the experience was similar. Arrived at spawn ...if you are not the first, then there's hardly any resources left, also piles of corpses, and lag due to useless huge buildings that have gobbled up all the resources and are now empty. ---Why would someone build a huge walled structure with 10 of each spinning wheels, weaving looms, smelters, forges and kilns? And its locked. They are not playig the game, so its obviously soem form of passive griefing. You have to find berries or corn or stuff, to survive and most likely someone will arrive and attack you. pve or not! You find an abandoned dinghy and try to move to somewhere else , hoping your supply of berries and fruit last. You are lucky to find land ..and its already been plundered but still some things left. A base has to be built ...if you don't set up and switch on your barrier promptly , someone will destroy your base...( and you .)... should you log out or get logged out by a game crash ! ( and thats often!!!!!) When off line , your base will be raided .. doors left open after they leave,.... players will go through every storage container, take what you crafted and leave behind their rubbish. if not protected, they will destroy it. If you have a tamed horse..it will be killed ..i have seen players working together going around killing all the animals ...including tame horses .. for the " lol's" You explore caves .. they already have been plundered ...same with all the buildings and stuff that's part of the game. So with nothing more to do you log out , hoping to come back and continue collecting stuff to build a ship and explore more You try to return to the game ... and sometimes you wait ages to get in , if at all.!!!! ..... when you do , you are alone on the server. Lag builds .. the game then falls over and thats it !. you try to get back... that game is offline ..never comes back! so you choose another game on another server... go back to the first line of this post and start reading again... So now you know why Ylands is giving a lot of players the feeling its not going anywhere..
  8. Ever woken up and found you fell out of bed onto the floor? ..well in ylands you cam fall into the floor! and why catch a subway train to get somewhere when in ylands you can walk / fall and fly through mountains! Just some of the persistent features of the game, i guess

    In Game Mailboxes

the only issue would be allowing only the recipient to view / collect mail etc intended for them . ... currently when others visit your place its a " help yourself" to anything unlocked attitude
  10. @bojo2736 yes .. the same island with the wonky hilltop where people can fall/ fly through ... that's the hill near spawn with the tower of about 12 offline bodies stacked on top of each other ( some are duplicates!)

What other games do you play?

I been dabbling in Outlaws of the wild west lately, a game there lasts way longer than the games here. Also, if you don't log in after 7 actual days your buildings will decay and eventually free up space (and reduce lag) .. a great idea Ylands could adopt , ----except currently a Ylands mp game cannot last more than a few days before becoming unplayable ... Also looking into "the dawn of man" as single player game that has not only promise , but possible expansion. it also works .!

    Dev Diary #96

persistent avatars ... a typical "funeral pyre" forming on P1 Eu server. There are also other bodies scattered around..
  13. No logs as i couldn't get in! Took 3 minutes on the P1 na1 server to get to recalling buildings... then waited for 4 minutes as the wheel of misfortune staggered around ,,, eventually a connection time out. Not going to bother wasting more time trying ..off to do something else more productive, like watching silly cats or car crashes on youtube.

Ylands is broken & something needs to be said

From what i hear about the changes to explore, ( smaller maps etc ) the further away from the initial concept of the game, ylands is headed. I am no one of the battle and "shoot em up" types... I. prefer creative co operation with others Sadly, whats proposed is no longer what i really expected from the trailer and initial concept. But that's just me I guess i will spend less time in game and possibly join the other score of friends who i no longer see in game. A shame, ... but to those friends i have in the game i will still be around, just not so active. Unless something happens to make the game playable, interesting, and less like a gameboy/donkey kong / derivative.
  15. after 3 tries on a 4 hour old new map, i cannot get back into the game on NA1 P1 gaming server. The game goes into an apparent loop at recalling building 100% ..and hangs there ...so far i have endured 6 and a half minutes watching the wheel of misfortune stagger and stop and going nowhere, I have spent nerly 20 minutes trying to get in.. just today Personally, i am not going to bother posting any more bug re[ports. I spend more time doing that than playing the game. Log files attached going to let others post reports instead... i just do not have the time anymore. output_log_clean.txt output_log.txt
  16. cannot tell ..its taking me over 6 minutes of waiting to get into a game ...i have to task manager out... tried several times ... giving up for the day
  17. First of all, i ave checked my internet ..its running OK no issues there I have run malwarenytes, Crapcleaner, Bitdefender optimizer to clean out any rubbish. I have heaps of os space and 2 TB external drive so plenty of space... And Ylands used to work .....reasonably Yesterday the game lagged badly . building blocks took over 3 minutes to harden ... you used a hammer to remove something and nothing happened .....3 minutes later over half of what you built disappeared with the hammer destruct sound ..often soem doistance away from where you were working Another player started complaining in chat that work stations were not working.. and cooked food or processed ores were only available form a workstaion after it extinguished Moving around was like a old 1920 Charlie Chaplin movie with the camera operated by someone suffering an epileptic fit ... stop start ...whizz stop s-l-o-w- stop wizzz... Building became impossible. Today ... 5 attempts at logging in .... all failed at either loading buildings or building water after 4 minutes ... So a restart took place .... after 2 more attempts at 6 minutes of watching that pie thing move a pixel at a time .. then have a fit ...then stop ... with a time out message i gave up! Tried to log out and got the log out screen for about 90 seconds as it wondered what to do with Ylands That's it for today! So frustrated after 4 days of hard work that i am going off to play something else until game improves . Logs attached ...seems to be a mp/server issue and not my system as others have the same experience but apparently gave up on reporting. output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  18. Since this game first appeared, have spent 3015 hours playing it .. and that's not a lot compared to the efforts others have done. Yes early access...with flying sharks that would emerge through ships keels and attack you whilst sailing... Horses that disappeared when you mounted them, then behaved the same way as vehicles did in diving underground and never been seen again. and many more eccentricities.. but it was early access. And we stuck with it. And there were hot-fixes appearing to correct the serious issues that we reported. We looked forward to the future.. Then came the dark ages...... We sent in reports ..and nothing came back ..it was like being part of SETI, sending off into space messages and waiting for intelligent life to respond ... we got zilch most of the time. Occasionally we got a response ( after a lot of prodding) that something was being done ...we didn't know what, but it was being done, we were assured. Then there was a disastrous update with ships disappearing, eaten by an invisible ship-worm, and a myriad of other "enhancements" that sounded good but we wondered if they had ever been tested before release. Meanwhile a lot of the old bug reports were never acknowledged or fixed . The game was rife with griefers, and lag, and the problem seemed to be that the spawn area was a target for griefing, and also the source of much of the lag, with dead bodies from one-off players stacking up. So some clever people looked into the scripting functions and found they could modify games and maps to provide Admin tools so that a game's host could control the game, purge out the bodies and bring in ideas that reduced the lag and made the game more enjoyable. But what happened? Again we had an issue where non BI servers would not connect, and we are now used to this as we grew to know it was an indication there is an update coming through...unannounced. or something changed back end unannounced. Finally - there's a major update -.(0.14).. whoopee! with lots of new stuff to test to see if its broken, ( some of it apparently has not been tested!) ..but there's still old issues not attended to .... were the developers ever told about them? But whats so annoying is that months and months of scripting enhancements that made the game playable have been ignored, and literally tossed into the bin, .. these scripting enhancements really should have been available in game by default. Also a lot of the scriptwriters used these enhancements to create mini games within Ylands... but the incentive has now gone from a lot i know of. - Especially as in one case a game was created by Bojo, and someone got in, removed a lot of the admin stuff and then locked her out of the game . She doesn't want to bother anymore, i gather - and i understand why. ..its a waste of time to have others profit from your hard work or destroy it for "lol" 's So now we have a group of scripting players who are wondering why they wasted so many months doing something for the game that really should have been part of the game, but now is "ignored and not wanted" It sounds from the discussions in these forums that BI developers were not aware of these desired enhancements... and i feel they were surprised to actually see them in effect. So what happens now? Will BI reverse and look at these improvements and take them on board for future updates? Will they do a U-turn and incorporate into the game these necessary admin tools and allow games to be hosted on Non BI servers without the current problems? or has BI /Ylands reached a Dead end? To answer the last question, i suggest perhaps BI people read the steam reviews of Ylands ..and see why people are leaving, The Steam community is where you get your player base..and that support is falling away. Meanwhile some of us ( a declining few) are sticking with the current maps /games but when the latest one falls over ( as is customary within a week), i gather that we will be moving to non public accessible private mp games ...and that means less promotion of Ylands. -----Or to other games.
  19. Hi Adam .. the 0.14 seems to have corrected it for me ... but its a 3 to 5 minute wait while it logs in from the game menu... and also sometimes its a 4 minute wait to get back to the games screen when logging out.
  20. Ok 2 sets of logs attached .. 1) ship sailing lag ... the ship would stop dead in the water although wake and other graphics were moving .. just no froward movement of ship ..its intermittent , more so near land. 2) Crazy sails! The ship has 4 sets ... in mid ocean suddenly 3 of them furled up with no input fro the sailor ...ships speed didn't change... selecting s furled the remaining unfurled one up and the other 3 unfurled to half setting!... s again furled them all up ... w then reset them all unfurled .. 3) sometimes the above happened when ship was moored in bay with anchor down ... could it be the ghost of Davey Jones trying to steal my ship ? ( there was no one else on line) 4) i was overtaken by another ship at full speed ... the player was offline!..yet ship sailing on...luckily it beached itself on a nearby island .. I saw another ship had suffered the same fate.. the player scanning the horizon while beached ..and offline 5) Assembly of ship ... pressed E and the bang thump bang went on for 5 minutes .. with yellow lines indicating it was doing something. I logged out to menu screen 3 times and back ... 3rd time seemed to break the loop and it worked. 6) digging ... was ineffective ... Snow whites 7 dwarfs would have more luck! A server restart fixed it 7) unable to place objects ... they simply did not appear .. or refused to be placed ...again a server restart fixed it. 8 ) Rubber banding ... both in flight and running and especially in caves. It was intermittent and te no. on line made no difference logs for 2 sessions attached ... 1st ia older session .. 2nd is the latest. Overall the game has had a great improvement... ? output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  21. All my blueprinted buildings etc do no align with the others items on the grid ... Screenshots attached. No big deal, but fyi ? otherwise enjoying the update ... note in last pic the structure is 'floating'

    Ylands...Crossroads, U-turn or Dead End?

The clever scripters of P1 gaming added the "clean up" facility where bodies would not pile up on spawn creating lag. They have had this operating for a while and despite sending in game logs/maps its apparently not been noticed by BI. This scripting idea should be in the game by default. Why? well after about 3 days the current NA1 game has bloated to over 50 mb because of the stack of bodies on spawn... so many in fact that if a player dies, due to the game crashing and hes at sea, or wearing a prop pack , or gets dumped through the floor / earth by the usual unfixed ylands bugs, they cannot respawn as the spawn point just cannot cope. So they get a time out error again and again... and decide to go somewhere else instead of ylands. Please, take note, and support those P1 (and other) scripters, that have put into the game controls to make it playable.

    General Weirdness ..

All today ...when i managed to log on ...it takes a minimum time of 5 and a half minutes --- and after logging in 3 times now i find myself underwater under the place i logged out from. There also have been several reports in game of players falling through the earth ( again?) ..i asked them in chat to send feedback, but its apparent they do not bother anymore....just accept it as part of the way Ylands works, After spending another 5 and a half minutes of logging in, 1 minute retrieving data ....2 minutes unpacking data , and the other 2 and a half minutes recalling buildings etc, i once again found myself under water under the building i logged out inside. game was still jerky with intermittent lag ...only one other person on line in the game. This was so predictable now i took a screenshot before i logged out ( and experienced a 4 minute log out cycle) ... and a screenshot on after i logged back in. ( after a 5 and a half minute wait) Log files included should you care to look at them output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
  24. i was asked by steam to install ylands ..although it showed me as playing 3017 hours... anyway after a 4 minute log in torture,,i got back in I dunno.
  25. i can agree...its like running into an invisible wall ... or you stop for a couple of seconds ... watching water....its normal then there's a quick movement like a catch up ... then normal. i do not have logs as i am currently trying to put things back together after Ylands hung up on me ... after 2 attempted log ins lasting 6 minutes .. the last one got me in but then a serious crash where i had the log out wheel over the games menu screen ..and hung for 6 minutes until my computer fell over. I am now trying to get back, but steam is not co operating, i clicked play to get back into ylands and it too fell over Not happy.
